Gavin has been sidelined while Sam has been developing this year as our featured back. I have no illusions that they’ll be the second coming of Pat White and Steve Slaton, but I would love to see what those two can do in the lineup together.
100% agree and we need to see what the future holds here as well. We have never really developed a QB and truly need to. To your point, the INTs were skewed a bit due to playcallingSame here. Would really like to see them together. The key question is how good is Wimsatt at reading the defense to be able to play more of an option offense? My guess is that he still has lots of work in that area since he still young and hasn't had much playing time.
I get that Schiano wants to win but he has to give significant opportunities to our young QBs so we can also win in the future and are able to attract good QBs. Playing an injured Vedral doesn't make much sense to me.
One last thing, using the interceptions/turnovers against Simon and even Wimsatt also make no sense since these mostly occured due to poor play calling and asking too much of two young QBs instead of running the ball with our big RB.

You are right, in 10-13 years Schiano developed Mike Teel and I will add another one, Ryan Hart. Both developed because they had an opportunity to play and make mistakes and it took lots of time, which is your point. QBs can only learn so much from the sidelines.Never really developed a QB?
Mike Teel- who I think was a 2 star recruit and was either drafted or UDFA and went to NFL?
Gary Nova, who, unfortunately, got his development in his senior year.
But to the point, how long did it take Harbaugh (a QB) to develop one at Michigan?
And Scott Frost (a QB) at Nebraska- how many did he develop?
The other important question is whether whoever the OC is capable of teaching Wimsatt the zone read if that's the offensive direction. Since Fridge left, we've seen OCs try to install an option based running game without really teaching the nuances and fundamentals. That needs to change.Same here. I completely agree. Wimsatt already had some valuable reps, so now he understands the speed of the game. No reason to rush his development and make him lose confidence. As long as a bowl is in play, Vedral should start
SG’s musical chairs at QB is what screwed the offensive line development. Consistency leads to chemistry. And the offensive side of the ball needs to develop — not just the QB
Gavin is still very very young. Let him keep learning, practicing, developing. Stay healthy, with confidence, for a big season next year. Especially when a 6th-year player-coach in Vedral has earned it
If Vedral gets hurt or really falters — Wimsatt goes in. If RU has no reasonable chance for 6-6, put him in
But against Indiana, in which we had 1 QB under center all game, was the most in-game development we’ve seen of the offensive unit all year. OL improved, TE improved, WR improved, and def RB
I have seen nothing of the sort from his mother. To the contrary, she seems all in:IMHO better get him in the game soon or he will be in the portal next yr. I understand his parents are getting impatient on Twitter
Where can he transfer to that would guarantee that he starts next season? He is guaranteed to start at RU next seasonIMHO better get him in the game soon or he will be in the portal next yr. I understand his parents are getting impatient on Twitter
Honestly he's not guaranteed anything. He hasn't shown yet that he can be a d1 starter. Maybe he will be next year but that's still TBD.Where can he transfer to that would guarantee that he starts next season? He is guaranteed to start at RU next season
Prolly a handful of schools not to mention potentially some NIL money to leave. There’s very little loyalty in players anymore and yes, Greg has to get him time to appease his growingly impatient family.Where can he transfer to that would guarantee that he starts next season? Maybe he has not shown you anything yet but the coaches see him in practice every day& they seem very confident about his ability to startHonestly he's not guaranteed anything. He hasn't shown yet that he can be a d1 starter. Maybe he will be next year but that's still TBD.
There are a lot of things I give GS 1.0 credit for and many things I did not like. We have to find ways to provide lots of opportunities to our young QBs since our senior QB can only take us so far right now and it takes time and snaps to develop young QBs.
And to be clear, I'm not saying bench Vedral and put Wimsatt for 100% of the snaps but Wimsatt or Simon need to have many snaps on all or most games.
Anyway, hoping everything works out and we can get 2 more wins!
Idk. It’s not like NV is setting such a high bar with his play at the position. As it stands now he might start by default since Simon is the only other scholarship QB on the roster.Maybe he has not shown you anything yet but the coaches see him in practice every day& they seem very confident about his ability to start
