Coming into this season, I thought Harsin would have been one of the hottest seats right next to Frost but so far he's outlasted 3 lol. I think his time will come though because there's a faction that wants him out and likely only a big season will save him. If he didn't have that miracle win against Mizzou yesterday I would've assumed he'd be out this week too alongside Collins.

A good friend is a Tech alum and fan. It was time.
I've read Deion mentioned for this job, ASU and Auburn (should it open up and likely will). He's interviewed for TCU and Arkansas in the past so his name will likely keep popping up for the flash and recruiting chops.

I think Jamey Chadwell, Alex Goresh would be decent names for GT too.

For who they are (a high end tech school), it's a tough job. Paul Johnson retired in 2018. They did and could do a lot worse than Paul Johnson. Coax him out of retirement. He's only 65.

I think they purposely wanted to go away from that style of offense for the next coach after PJ, although not sure why they went with Collins given that criteria.

Chadwell has an exciting offense at Coastal and Goresh has been the playcaller at Tenn and was with Heupel at UCF. I kind of thought those names would fit the profile of what they might be looking for as far as identity. Look how quickly Tenn has got an identity now on offense. The playcaller of that offense might be attractive. He's definitely an up and coming name. Jeff Lebby at OU isn't a bad name either.

What is the collective amount of money being paid to these guys to get rid of them? I don’t care whether the school or boosters are picking up the tab. We have become numb to such payouts.

Until there are greater repercussions or costs associated with making such moves, college athletics will continue down to drift towards being nothing more than the minor league for the NFL and have less and less attachment to primary educational mission of the university. As a result my interest continues to wane.

Frost's contract was about 15M since they fired him before that October day. I think Collins' contract was over 10M.

I rail about crazy and bad biz coaching contracts all the time here but my interest is the same as it has been. Only sport I watch regularly.

That's one name I haven't seen mentioned for Nebraska but wouldn't be a bad choice. I think he'd get them to solid footing.

If he does not get a coaching job, can we hire him to ride the Knight out for the game entrance? He's a Bronco after all. @koleszar , is a Bronco suitable for Knight riding?

2 years into a 6 year term? Where did this begin, MSNBC, Salon or Vox?
Wasn't he pretty mediocre at Cincy anyway?

Brian Kelly had Cincy humming. So does Luke Fickel.

Tuberville had a great run at Auburn, and after a single 5-7 season, they fired him. Auburn did the same thing to Malzahn after going 8-5, 9-4 and 5-4 (2020). And Auburn is already unhappy with Harsin. They don't suffer even a moderate amount of losing at Auburn.

Deion’s name pops up for that one too. The thinking is he can recruit on the level of Saban and Smart and Harsin isn’t up to the challenge.

I think ASU would be a good spot for Deion. Recruit like crazy there and barrier to entry for recruits is easier than say a GT and it’s easier competition than Auburn.

Bronco Mendenhall, Troy Calhoun, Eric Bienemy, Jeff Grimes, Bryan Harsin, Jim McElwain, Mark Helfrich are soem names I’ve seen pop up for it.

I think Bronco, Walters, Harsin and maybe Grimes and McElwain might be solid choices.

Bienemy has a lot of off the field skeletons in his closet. Nobody is going to hire him.

Maybe getting beat by Bielema in Camp Randall was the straw that broke the camel's back lol. I would've thought staff changes, didn't expect HC change. 15-10 since 2020 or so but the record before that was excellent. I'd have figured they would give him time to fix things a bit. 72% winning percentage.

Whoa, really surprised at the Chryst firing.
People always thought Leonhard would get the job but if he doesn't get the interim tag removed, I think he'll be a top DC for someone next year if he doesn't get a HC spot himself. If I'm one of those offensive minded HCs I'd seek him out after this year. I like Aranda as a defensive mind and he learned under him and has done well keeping it up since Aranda left Wisconsin.

Typical these days lol...give out a new contract and then eat said contract.

Pelini's record was good but I can understand personality clashes being an issue, don't see that with milquetoast Chryst. They better hope they don't fall into a Nebraska like hole that's difficult to dig out from.

No more Cousin Eddie from Vacation in the look alike threads for Wisconsin. He was boring, but

67-26/43-18 since 2015. Averaged 9.3 wins per season and just under 6 B1G wins per season (excluding this year).

9-4/6-3 last year, second in West not good enough.

Hey @NickRU714 , would you object to hiring Chryst as OC?

Same here. Not ready to join the RU1000, but the professionalization of college sports is a big turnoff to me. I completely understand the equity argument for players getting paid, given the revenue they generate, but that doesn't mean I have to like how it's being done, especially the ridiculous coaching salaries and facility arms races going on in our universities.
