Article on the PGA Tour creating their Super League (no cut). By having the have's / have's not, this may actually cause issues on tour with the have not's. Article also makes the point of guys like Tiger being a businessman (and suggests the tour paying them off to remain). As mentioned in this thread, the PGA Tour would have been better aligning with LIV for the good of golf.

+1
PGA reacting and playing catch-up after decades of giving their own members the middle finger.

So it’s good for LIV and golf unless the PGA does it. LOL. Keep spinning.

No complaints about how bad the leaderboard is this week? Guess you’ll have to skip nap time today.

It’s bad for the PGA Tour because they are losing good players and depth. They could have stifled all this early on but they had to be arrogant.

And you keep spouting the Monahan line that LIV is just an exhibition. However now Tiger and the players propose the same format and crickets. PGA Tour Super League is just an exhibition as well. Monahan needs to go.

Unlike you I watch all the golf I can get. I am glad we have a good leaderboard but it could have been better. Looking forward to the US Am final more anyway. You may see me on TV later.

There is a golf event this weekend? Sorry, but the next one is Boston on Labor Day weekend.
Should be a great weekend in Boston that weekend. RU/BC, Yankees/Red Sox and LIV tournament. I will be able to see a lot of events while I am there. Then back to NY where I’ll be at the US Open on Tuesday. Sucks Djoker not playing.

I like Will and was happy he won but that win pretty much describes his career. Been close in the past but never won. In the playoff's it was like both were trying to lose the tournament. Not sure what Will was thinking when he considered playing the ball on the par 3/last playoff hole. I saw a video on Monday of someone trying to hit the shot and it went back into the water as expected. Maybe this win gives him the confidence to win the Fed Ex Cup.
Career? The dude is like 24 lol.

You literally said you took a nap instead of watching St Jude. LOL. Have fun at the Am finals. Love the event even though it’s full of no name players and playing for no money 😉.

To clarify I took the nap while watching the St Jude on the Saturday. US AM was great today. Great crowd and great course. So cool being able to walk the course and get close to the action.

The attendance at the BMW was non existent. Embarrassing. Please stop with this being a playoff spectacular. Nobody cares. In an area that loves golf

I watched the US Am on tv today. Great final day 36 hole match that went down to the final hole. Both Bennett and Carr get to play in the 2023 US Open.

These kids really hit the ball and also played successfully out of Ridgewoods 5 inch rough. Easy to root for them in the future.

Of all the courses I’ve ever played, Ridgewood by far has the toughest rough. It’s always at least 4”.

I’ve never been a fan of the playoffs. Just like in NASCAR, it’s contrived. Even they know it’s a failure since it’s only 3 events now. East Lake is always a success and they should just have a season ending event there.

It’s in Delaware. Enough said. St Jude was well attended and East Lake also draw crowds.

Delaware and Southeast PA is huge golf fan areas. East Lake was well attended?? Compared to the Korn Ferry Tour maybe. The playoff spot that they have to keep is Liberty National. Big crowds great view on course and on TV. The last two weeks had no TV appeal

East Lake is next week. St Jude was well attended. Crowd looked good on TV. I don’t get the draw of Delaware. Agree that these events should be closer to bigger markets.

It's the Philly market. Huge golf fanbase. US Open at Merion was a record breaking event. Before the playoffs crap BMW was a huge draw. As someone said you change things like Nascar you lose fans. People at today's event didn't see a winner. It just eliminated players. Golf isn't setup for a 3 week playoffs. You play, you win or not. It's a sport that thrives on a weekly winner. Not in the playoffs

But BMW was at a different location last year, which proves the point that location/markets matter. How do you get to Wilmington from Philly? Amtrak?

The BMW hasn't been in the same place for years which has become a problem of loyal fans. Was in Baltimore last year. A few years ago it was was at Aroinmink and crushed it literally without parking within 25 miles so 40 min shuttle rides. It was 100 degrees on that Friday and they still packed the place. Wilmington CC is a lot easier to get to

Wilmington CC parking situation was also a disaster. Shuttles 20-30 mins away, no purchasing parking when you arrived but also couldn't purchase parking online on the day of the round.

Fun course to be at and good crowds on Thursday and Friday when I was there but definitely a few quirks with the place that should be addressed if they ever go back there for a tournament.

Cantlay was really good yesterday. I thought Schauffele would make a run but he just couldn't get anything going on the back 9.

In LIV news, seems like Pat Perez has now taken his name off the anti-trust lawsuit against the PGA saying that in hindsight it was a bad decision and that he doesn't want to be involved in legal battles against guys he likes and a tour that gave him a chance to play golf for a living. Ortiz dropped out weeks ago. Now there are 9 left suing the tour.

Pat Perez would like the option of playing on the PGA senior tour in the future. No sense in burning his bridges with the PGA Tour right now.

And if the LIV ceases operations in a year or more, then where does that leave the players who want to return to the Tour?

Who knows. I guess in theory they'd likely have to serve some sort of suspension period? I don't think LIV is going away anytime soon. I think at the end of the day, there eventually will be some sort of compromise between the two.

I don't think anything is going to happen until late 2023, as that's apparently when the lawsuit against the PGA Tour gets it's day in court. The DOJ is also sniffing around but who knows if and when they will find anything.

What are the odds that LIV gets a tv contract for next season? That would be a tipping point for them, since both groups will be playing in the same tv time slots. And LIV will have name recognition with golf fans.
