We still have 3 open scholarships. I know Pike likes to leave one open. That still leaves 2 spots. Apparently he is saving one for Caleb, but that's still one spot. We haven't heard much about any targets besides guards since Quinn early before Cliff declared he was coming back.

A high upside target with multiple years left makes sense with one slot

I don't think Pike is going to leave a Scholly open purposely to put a walk on on scholarship. If he can land a kid who's good he will use that last scholarship

Steve has repeatedly said that is hard to keep 13 scholarship guys happy. It is not to put a walk on a scholarship.

Ideally - the last one would be used on a big who comes in just wanting to play for a decent high major. Maybe a kid who is interested in an RU graduate program. We could use another back up big - if only for the practice squad. Nathan was a veteran. And we’re losing Agee too.

I hear Mamadou Doucoure is in the portal.

We could use another big to actually contribute too
We kind of run into the same problem at every position now: Anyone we can bring in that would be an upgrade is going to want more playing time than we would be offering.

Caleb’s shouldn’t count either. Same with Geo last year

Teams get better by recruiting players that upgrade needs .Status quo strategy depending on player development is hard to sustain when the best scorers leave in the same season. The transfer portal is meant to fill immediate needs which includes bench scoring.

That may have been a one year thing. Does anyone know for sure?

I don't think it's been officially ruled on, but expectation at the time was that it'd be a 1-year thing. They'd still get their 6th year of eligibility, but in 2022 and beyond it would count against the scholarship limit.

It was said yesterday that since we took Spencer; we were not going to take Hammond and yet Hammond was supposedly visiting yesterday and today?

Did Hammond's visit get cut short right after Spencer committed?
