I wonder if these coaches ask for input on players in the portal from their own players.. I would hope they do to give more insight.

Can Geo have a talk with Quinn before the kid goes and commits to Pitt. Didn’t like the way he was talking about Pitt. We need to close on him hard.

Absolutely. We need a player just like Quinn to play against the Purdues and Michigans of the B1G. One trip or rolled ankle by Cliff and we literally have no 5. Bring him home, Pikiell!

He may want to start. Won't start at Rutgers in year 1, he will in Year 2.

The backup Center I hope who enters the Portal is Ryan Young, Jersey guy from Northwestern. Perfect fit. Or, Freemantle, another Jersey guy from Xavier.

Been reading how big of a mess Pitt has become on Twitter. Not sure he would go there.

SG portal - Hammonds numbers look legit, I wouldn’t complain about Sessoms either

Freshman wise - RJ Luis and if the Monteverde 5star wants to come i’ll Be over the moon…think Simpson is gonna be great

Portal (big) Get a big who Protects the rim, and give us the option to put cliff at the four…I think his shot develops and he gets 18-20 ppg game

surprise: one more year of Caleb

that would be a sweet 16 team and a perineal powerhouse…build it too last!

Georgetown is a great school and they will offer a ton of playing time, but he's only got one year left. Not sure he would want to participate in a re-build.

Does Rutgers take both Hammond and Wright if they can get them?

If so, what happens when McConnell returns (my guess). Somones coming off the bench.

Yeah, different positions, different skill sets. And idk, there’s a way we can survive with Caleb/Paul at the four, especially with Wrights rebounding ability making up for lack of size.

Paul won't be playing the 4
Yeah, I don't understand people re: Mulcahy. Guy leads the conference in assists and people want to move him to the wing or, worse yet, the 4. SMH.

Yes, Paul is some limitations on defense, but he became a credible, willing defender this year, and actually got a lot of steals. He's very good at team defense, help defense, and the like, but he does have difficulty guarding the smaller, quicker guards. But he doesn't have to if we have other guards in the game.

Did not know hammonds was from queens. Slater knows his stuff. If he’s got info or a feel for him to RU that makes me feel good.

Now go find a wing and a serviceable backup center to play D (probably juco, a Shaq Carter type would make me happy) and we’re rocking.

My guess is Hammond would provide scoring punch off the bench. Highly highly doubt we land both though.
I think Hammond would be a sure fire starter — team desperately needs a guy that can penetrate / score. Much more likely Wright comes off the bench (though in big minutes).

Mulcahy
Hammond
Caleb
Hyatt
Cliff

Bench
Wright
Simpson
Reiber
Mag
Miller

Would be content with this, though adding another 4 and/or backup 5 would be huge. Will be interesting to see what Woolfolk offers from the jump, but with basketball not being his primary sport til this season, he’ll likely need a year

I don’t think wright is trending our way. Richie & co I believe stated look out for Colorado. I wish we had him.

Hammond Paul Hyatt Mag Cliff would be a more than serviceable starting group. I’m high on Mag and think Hyatt has all the pieces to do it just was playing ahead of his body last year. You saw spurts, excellent on boards, plays D. Has the stroke etc. mag the same but rangier and more athletic.

excited if we land Hammond and then get at minimum a C

You very well might be right. I just think Wright’s a better overall player from an efficiency and rebounding perspective which is why I had him starting.

With the reports that Wright was leaning to Colorado and now the news of Rutgers and Hammond coming out, I think it's fairly safe to assume Rutgers does not think Wright is coming here and has moved on to pursuing Hammond as their next target

1 guard, 1 wing, 1 depth big... that is how I would expect the targets to look like for 3 spots

It's either Hammond or Wright not both, only need one guard, one big. We have enough 2/3s and 3/4s type players, we need 1 1/2type and 1 4/5type, I think Pike holds the 13th for 2023 class

I think we need a younger wing who can score too.

True. But really we need upgrades at every position except 5 where we need a backup.

Paul has gotten better defensively and is a good help defender. The problem is he over helps too much especially when he is guarding a good 3 point shooter where he shouldn't be sagging so far into the lane to help. He will always struggle against anyone who is super quick and can blow by him.

If he tries to add too much weight to guard bigger defenders, it would hurt his quickness. He needs to stay lighter and work on quickness and explosiveness for both offense and defense

You banking and Hyatt finally becoming productive his senior year? I’m sure we’ll gladly take both and let the competition in practice decide who plays.
