Hyatt has absolutely nothing to do with Wright or Hammond. Neither play the 4.You banking and Hyatt finally becoming productive his senior year? I’m sure we’ll gladly take both and let the competition in practice decide who plays.
He has 2 years left pretty sure but he's older since he redshirted as a freshman then everyone gets the free covid yearHyatt is a junior right?
Hyatt plays the 4? Lol ok.Hyatt has absolutely nothing to do with Wright or Hammond. Neither play the 4.

He subbed in at the 3 and 4. Most of the time, when Harper went out, Hyatt came in.Hyatt plays the 4? Lol ok.
Yup. Did you watch?Hyatt plays the 4? Lol ok.
ThreeberYup. Did you watch?
Once the bench got shortened for the entire second half of the season minimum, he exclusively played the 4. Ron came out and Hyatt came in.
Hyatt is currently the projected starting 4.
This isn't a hot take or anything. He is really the only option at the 4 currently. Mag maybe but he's more suited for a 3. Dean is the backup 5. I guess Oskar maybe?
Who do you have as the 4 then?
Why are we still pretending like positions are labeled 1-2-3-4-5? Those labels died years ago. Harper was much more a perimeter scorer than a post up player. If pike can land Hammond and Wright he will absolutely do so and if Wright is efficient he will take minutes away from Hyatt. Rutgers isn’t going to play Hyatt 30 minutes just because he fits an arbitrary position.Yup. Did you watch?

It's not about labels. Neither Hammond nor Wright have enough size to guard whoever the 4th biggest player is on opposing teams. Doesn't matter what you call or label it. They just simply don't play the same roleWhy are we still pretending like positions are labeled 1-2-3-4-5? Those labels died years ago. Harper was much more a perimeter scorer than a post up player. You may not want to call them PF's or 4's, but, they play the role of a guy that can post up and score if necessary.. The only difference nowadays is that they must have perimeter shooting skills. Harper was the prototype for a college 4 today.....can post up and shoot from outside. He did a lot of work in the post. Why are we still pretending like positions are labeled 1-2-3-4-5? Those positions are generally about who you can defend, not how you score points. A "four" can guard 6-8/235 guys in the post, but also cover the perimeter. Why are we still pretending like positions are labeled 1-2-3-4-5? Those labels died years ago. Teams go small and play to their strengths all the time. Having a bunch of smaller, quicker guys on the court creates mismatches and is done all the time to compensate for lack of bigs. Hyatt’s defense isn’t good enough to guarantee him a spot on the court if he’s not providing offense. Rutgers has put so much time and resources into recruiting both Wright and Hammond, there’s no shot they turn one of them down. If Caleb doesn’t come back they might both be starters.Hammond and Wright are both 6'3 and under 200 pounds. They aren't guarding big wings that Hyatt would match up with.
Think about guys Harper guarded this year... Lidell, Murray, Hawkins etc etc etc. None are people Hammond and Wright are matching up with
I would like a HS or frosh transfer forward too. Klintman would have been really nice. Why is Palm still in the team? Agree we still need a big. Ideal would be Hammond/Wright, Floyd, Big
Baker wasn't a wing. He was a 1/2 guard. And it's not just the scoring, but the distribution, steals, and guard defense.Help me out here. It seems like this thread is all over the place in who is best suited for the team. Don't we need two wing scorers to replace Geo and Ron? They could compete for starting spots with Hyatt and Mag since neither of them have shown consistent offense.
Playing guys like Yeboah Harper Hyatt at the 4 IS going small. They are all 6'6. That's small for a 4.Teams go small and play to their strengths all the time. Yeah, I get Geo's position, but my point is that we need two guys who can score without expecting everything else that Geo and Ron brought. I think we're ok at the 1 and 5 spot, but it'd be nice if we could get two scorers to compete for starter minutes, even if Caleb comes back.Baker wasn't a wing. He was a 1/2 guard. So you’re saying Hyatt is guaranteed 30 minutes a game next year no matter what? Evening if hes shooting 20% from 3 and 30% overall? I’m not saying the small guys play 40 minutes together all game but if they prove to be effective on the offensive end then there are definitely minutes that can be thrown their way. Do you really think pike is spending most of his time going after hammond and Wright with the intention of turning one of them down?Playing guys like Yeboah Harper Hyatt at the 4 IS going small. They are all 6'6. That's small for a 4.
How small are you trying to go? In your scenario, if Hyatt isn't guarding the second biggest player who is? You must have Paul as the defacto 4 then. Can Paul handle that? Will that lead to him getting in foul trouble? Do we get destroyed inside and on the boards?
Hammond and Wright can't guard guys 6'7-6'9. Someone has to
I dont think Hyatt plays 30 min a game next year... pretty much no matter what. Never said or implied that.So you’re saying Hyatt is guaranteed 30 minutes a game next year no matter what? Hyatt’s best strength is actually his rebounding. Would like to see him exclusively play the 4 this yearYup. Did you watch?
