Amazingly the ACC has 3 schools in the elite 8

But what does that mean considering the middling resume of UNC and poor computer metrics of Miami..hey kenpom how are your predictive metrics now
Pomeroy gave Miami a 5.1% chance of getting this far…is that somehow way off?

Ken’s predictive metrics are as strong as ever.

I feel the pain of anyone who used his predictive metrics to bet the first four rounds of this tournament.

Why? I mean, in most cases the spreads are pretty much in line with Ken’s numbers. But do you have a reason to believe he was bad against the spread (or in some other way) over the past few weeks?

TBH I haven’t gone back and compared results with Kenpom-generated spreads. Maybe you have.

But my sense (FWIW) is that he underperformed (which as a matter of probability admittedly might very well not mean much).

While the Gonzaga reference is fitting, its time to retire the "______ says hello" quip. At this point, its no longer clever and needs to be buried with the "I'll have what you're smoking" quips.

People, we can do better.
In all honesty, trying to raise the bar wrt phraseology on a basketball message board is way down the list for me.

But by all means go for it 😊

ACC with 3 teams in the Elite 8. Big 10 probably the deepest conference in terms of quality depth but lacks the real elite teams capable of going deep in the tournament like Nova, Duke, Kansas, etc.

Like every other sport come playoff time the game speeds up and the BIG10 clearly can't keep up. I can't believe people are still denying it.

BIG10 teams need to change their style and the way they recruit or we will continue to see the same thing.

Both the Big and Big East under performed in this tournament. Don't think saying that is being a trool. The ACC and Big 12 came to play when it mattered. I hate the acc as much as anyone but have to give credit where it is deserved. No denying that.

Just wow, another year of disappointing shows by the B1G teams. Maybe less picked in the future . Don’t want to hear next season how great the league is.,

If you want to excuse the b10 this year for having no top seeds then what’s the excuse for last year? 2 #1 seeds and 2 #2 seeds and only one team made the elite 8. None in the final four. Illinois got dominated by a kid major. Iowa got blown out by a 7 seed. Ohio state lost to oral roberts. Also Purdue a 4 seed lost in the first round. The conference is clearly overrated and has been for many years now. 0 titles in 2 decades while the ACC Big East SEC big 12 have multiple.

Two years in a row the metrics are way off. B1G last two years. PAC 12 last year. ACC this year.

As Bill Parcels said, "you are what your record says you are". All season long there were so many arguments on this board about our OOC. Most thought the objective of playing an OOC was not to play basketball or entertain, but to build a good NET score and optimize the OOC for selection to the NCAA in march. By that logic, the only record that matters is play in the tournament and it doesn't matter what team was a bubble on selection sunday. So if the objective of a MBB program is to make the NCAA and win some games, the only record that matters is play in March. Therfore, BIG is a Fail, ACC is the best so far and SPU is the top team and best coached team in New Jersey.

Who cares if the ACC has 3 in the elite 8? It doesn’t change the fact that half the conference performed terrible all season long.

I don't know about you but I would rather do it when it counts the most. I hate the ACC but they are the winners this year of best conference because they did it on the floor.

3 out of 14 of their teams is hardly representative of “they”. Let’s put in perspective just how bad the rest of their conference was early. Clemson wasn’t even one of their worst teams. We beat them when we were at our rock bottom worst by double digits without Geo (coming off consecutive losses to DePaul, Lafayette and UMass). ND hardly dominated us. They needed double OT to take us down in a buzzer beater. They finished tied for 2nd /3rd in this so called “amazing” league with a total of 5 ACC losses. We finished tied with two other teams for 4th / 5th / 6th with 8 losses. If the ACC was this amazing conference, the logic should follow that ND destroys a team that loses more in a worse conference. BS

And yet they will be taking home the most money from credits for their conference. Also I agree with you that Notre Dame did not dominate you. In fact I watched that game and thought you actually outplayed them but they made some key plays when it counted.

That doesn’t mean they were one of the best conferences and it will have no role in helping more of their teams get in the field in future years.

If they spend that money wisely it should. Only time will tell . I'll agree Big is better top to bottom but what does that really get you.

The Big Ten Has not won a basketball title in over 20 years. Their football teams have a similar record. They are a bunch of
Big state schools who get a lot of publicity but field very mediocre teams. Their teams are constantly overrated. Big time. Their basketball teams and football teams are very similar. Big and very slow. Big and very slow. And constantly overrated. Their biggest asset Is a journalism staff that keeps their teams in the news.
