Think it depends if it’s an ncaa approved agent. I believe they can retain eligibility. Seems he wants to play for $. So I’m not expecting to see Mr Jones grade a college floor again.

Triple confirming that with this agent, he is allowed to come back to college. With absolutely zero knowledge of the details of his Rutgers experience to date, I hope he returns.

So how is Rutgers supposed to plan to replace all that he brought to the team if they don't know if he's returning or not ?

NOTHING is final until he signs with a pro team and/or goes to another team

he signed with an "approved" agent. so under NCAA rules, he can return

so, technically - no it's not "final".

all that said...... it's final.

This is correct and Durant is NCAA certified. So the window isn’t technically closed in his return. But from reading the tea leaves, it’s extremely unlikely.

Scouts supposedly rave about him so who knows
I flat out don't get this. What are they raving about? That he's tall and can in theory be a combo guard? You can find ballers that fit that stature at any pickup court in NYC.

He hasn't played at all. It doesn't matter if he looks good in practice and in open runs, can he put in work against peers like OSU, UM, MSU, etc? A lot of players go HAM in open runs and can't buy a bucket in a game situation, especially on the road against a quality opponent.

It's not like NBA teams have never drafted a college kid who didn't play a lot. There's precedent. That said this is a stretch for Jaden. Let's hope he goes through evals, is told he has things to work on, and comes back hungry to improve.

The NBA game is very different from college right now. So when scouts see a young athletic guard that can do it all offensively and doesn’t need to unlearn the college game, they see potential. They’ll have him sign a G League contract, teach him how to play the pro game and have him on a pro roster in a few years.

Just look at all of these mock drafts. The majority of first round picks are projected to be college freshman and sophomores, G League/Overtime Elite guys and international players. Nobody wants a guy that broke through as a junior or senior and shot the lights out against a lot of zone defenses. That doesn’t translate to the pros.

Yeah Kobe Bryant . With due respect to Jones, while he was reasonably highly ranked from HS, he was never a sure fire NBA talent .

His dad said NBA scouts were intrigued. I wonder what intrigued them. This is a deep draft this year, loaded with guys who played a lot more minutes at a high level all season. Unless his HS highlights and RU practice film resembles LeBron's, I don't see how an NBA team would use an actual draft pick on him. Stranger things have happened, though.

Anyone know if he is still going to classes. The answer would be telling.

Doesn’t really matter to be honest. G League will pay him at minimum $7k a month in addition to benefits like insurance and housing during the season.

He will get his shot and it’s totally possible that his game translates to the NBA better than college.

Pretty much this. Everything about look how the NBA has changed and he'll be earning a salary is complete ********. Kid doesn't play in college, unless he's a generational talent he's not going anywhere as a pro.

I fully expect him to withdrawal and seek other options, unless he wants to play in the Serbian 3rd division

You're right. Jaden is money. He's so money, he doesn't even know it. But he does.

Can’t wait for him to win MVP of the G league next year with 22 PPG and see the threads on here. Kyk will have Christmas morning all season long bashing Pike and coaches

Who cares what he does in the G league? Plenty of kids develop after doing nothing their frosh year. It would mean nothing with respect to Pike and Rutgers.

This past season, Jaden couldn’t defend at the D1 level and didn’t shoot well early against weaker teams. That’s how he ended up on the bench. It wasn’t like he wasn’t given opportunities to come in and showcase his talent.

He is not not not not not coming back. Ever. Agent, no agent. He’s either transferring, going to d league. Jalen Miller and probably even Palmquist played a ton more than him, and that’s all we need to know. The writing was on the wall many months ago.
