Gard was the root cause technically, getting physical with Howard and not letting Howard walk away. Howard kept telling him not touch him and he kept it physical. Howard with the big no no obviosuly gonna walk away with the big punishment deservedly so

Didn’t Gard call timeout with 18 secs left and up 14 points? Howard may have objected to that.
I see a parallel to the play Howard had Michigan run on their last possession against RU. McConnell got caught in a hard screen by Dickinson. So it’s ok for his team to play to the buzzer in a game that was out of reach but not ok for Gard to coach his scrubs to the end.

To top it off, Howard escalated the whole thing and his players took his lead. There will be multiple players suspended on Michigan for throwing punches. No way to defend what Howard did.
His players took his lead? Did you watch the recent videos?
Around 20 second mark a kid for Wisconsin and possibly another teammate put some Michigan guys on the floor and then they retaliated. This is not just in Michigan in fact it’s mostly in Wisconsin. The end result is on Howard.

No matter how some try to spin it , Howard acted like a sore loser that was out of control.
Trying to blame someone else for Howard's action just absolves him from being not the type of leader College players can look up to.
Gard did grab Howard a bit, but that doesn't excuse what followed later and the HC being at the end of post game handshake line isn't the usual place HC are at but Howard put himself there from what I could gather
Howard put himself in a position to cause trouble and went out of control the moment Gard made sure he didn't ignore him .
When game is down to the final seconds you don't press, Howard had his team press and Gard made sure his players didn't commit a turnover in the last seconds of game.
No press, ho timeout.

But no one excuses Howard for what he ended up doing so there’s that.

Didn't you post:
"Gard was the root cause technically, getting physical with Howard and not letting Howard walk away. Howard kept telling him not touch him and he kept it physical. Howard with the big no no obviosuly gonna walk away with the big punishment deservedly so "

yes you're not saying Howard isn't going to be punished, but to me it looks like you're implying it wasn't his fault and the slap on that Wisconsin Assistant was an understandable act.

Yes if someone doesn’t want to talk to you and instead you physically stop them to talk, and keep impeding their progress when they try to leave and continually ask you not to touch them, that qualifies.
So wait are you saying that is ok for Howard to slap or punch someone because they "physically" stopped him to talk after Howard started the conversation by saying " I will remember that".

Should Steve Pikiell start slapping or punching other team's AD too? maybe Steve should start with Howard...

I saw three people throw punches. All Michigan. You just can’t do that. Everyone is pushing and grabbing. Those three people (Howard, 14 & 5) are going to get suspended as they should.

edit - I didn’t see it but reading that a Wisconsin player also on video throwing a punch. If so, he needs to be suspended.

That is the worst take of any I heard on this subject. If you have an ounce of class or dignity as a head coach at the highest level of college athletics you shake your opponents hand after they handed your *** to you and you move on and try to get better.

This isn’t “someone doesn’t want to talk to you” this is two head coaches in a post game handshake line, treating it as anything more is just asinine.

Howard lacks class, lacks good sportsmanship, and lacks self control. I have a 2 minute video from my seat at the RAC following Michigan’s loss to RU. They can’t accept defeat with Grace. Howard was posing for photos while Diabate was in a complete melt down being restrained and dragged across the court by 3 staff members. If he was let loose I’m sure he wold have sucker punched someone or swung a chair. Our disabled fan in the wheel chair was nearly trampled. As Diabate left the court he was yelling at the stands “I’m going to fuking kill you.“ I share this because Howard did nothing to control his team. All is OK with this idiot in that situation.

Gard was not the root cause. Attempting to blame Gard is chicken ****. He attempted to speak to Howard and explain why he called the timeout with only seconds on the clock. Howard ‘s past issues will come up and Michigan needs to suspend him tomorrow. The fact that Howard swung at the assistant is simple assault . His team was looking to follow his poor example at leadership. All things aside I would expect a counter claim against Gard by the Michigan AD.

Lightly grabbing a coaches arm in a handshake line is normal. After Howard said don't touch me Gard let go and then Howard aggressively grabbed a handful of Gards shirt right under his neck and waved his finger right in his face.

The coach Howard hit never touched Howard in any way. Not even remotely close

Are you suggesting that Gard physically attacked Howard with intent or ability to inflict physical harm?
