Agreed and don't even mind having Dean as the back up the only games where you need Myles size and 5 fouls are Purdue and Illinois other than that we are just fine!!

+ and - for each player. Myles post D and boards are missed. Love seeing Cliff finish and controlling the paint. This team is really built for more zone D.

Cliff could be a 20 point contributor next year and a better defender who doesn’t get in foul trouble as easy as Myles
This is key. Cliff isn’t in foul trouble very often. Myles always was in foul trouble. Myles was amazing defensively particularly in his 4th year in the program. Cliff is in year 2.

If you're asking me which guy I'd rather have on my team for four years, it's Cliff. But I'm fairly confident in saying that a lot of those early season losses that have us on the outside looking in would have been wins if Myles Johnson had stayed.

"Don't even mind" is effusive praise from Rich

If Young had stayed

Pure metrics......
Myles last year.....vs Cliff this year
13.3% OREB % vs 9.8%
25.3% DREB% vs. 22.5%
10.5% BLK% vs 5.5%

No doubt Cliff is more explosive offensively and fouls 75% less. Cliff is still improving and will probably end up net net better than Myles when all is said and done

I do not know the numbers, but would be curious to see Cliff's numbers in the last 10 or so games vs the whole season.

I suspect his numbers at getting tangibly better but not catching Myles yet

Cliff no brainer.

Honestly have no idea how it took this long to make utilizing cliff in pnr a huge part of our offense when you consider the relentless effort to try and post Myles Johnson all the time. But I’m glad we got there eventually. It was a concerted effort not to involve cliff too much but can’t keep that monster silent no matter what.

As Cliff actually has a decent mid range jumper, question, against a big center like Cockburn assuming they play man, do you have Cliff go away from the basket? Challenge Cockburn to defend 12-15 ft jumper? Hoping you free up the lane for penetration for Geo/Paul/Ron?

rebounding metrics are constant....block % last 10 is high 8s which puts him closer to Myles 10.5%. To the eye he appears to be improving in that area too.

I will say there were a few possessions where he went for a block unsuccessfully and was out of position for a rebound. The blocks are overrated crowd had ammunition last night when we were getting torched on the defensive glass.

our upside with Cliff is actually so much more. He has replaced Myles totally because he is a complete player. Myles was a slow unathletic big who had trouble making foul shots and was inefficient offensively when he got the ball
He wasnt unathletic and he was a much better and willing passer than Cliff. Can't debate the foul shooting.
