Don’t think I have felt this bad after a loss since the Iowa Weiskamp loss. It was Paul’s game to win or lose. It was because of him we were in that position. Harp could have passed to Paul for the tray at end of game.

im fine if ron took the shot, but not a fan of the specific shot he chose to take. Should have kept driving to the basket...
It was basically an uncontested shot though. Easy step back against a smaller defender. There were 2 NW defenders in the key.

With limited time left you don't know if you get a better opportunity. It was the right shot.

Except that had “charge” written all over it. Our favorite refs were not calling a block if there was contact. Good shot. He just missed it. In a lot of ways that’s mentally a tougher shot than the Purdue shot. No one expected you to make that one.

Leadership wouldn’t allow us to come out flat and uninspired every single game. And that’s on the leadership of our coaches and captains
Amen... I've been stating that all season and have gotten lambasted by some of the Pike loving clowns on this board.

Leadership starts at the top. No accountability in the first half and no adjustments until the 2nd.
You mean HC Pikes responsible for this wreck... Wow many of this board have been calling me a Syracuse lover and a Seton Hall lover because I've been pointing out the obvious since the beginning of the season. There's zero leadership on this team from Pike...zero.

And Ron and Geo can literally take nights off, and they're starting position will never be threatened...almost like they're in a union and Pikes the union boss... No threat of job security

As much as Pike deserves a lot of criticism for the problems of this year's team, Geo and Ron deserve as much blame. They are supposed to be seasoned vets who should be setting the emotional and physical tone night in and night out. I just don't see it with these 2 this year (Geo much more than Ron). As much as I appreciate what these guys have done for the program, as far as this year is concerned, they have been invisible for far too often in many of the games. I think that Geo especially has seem checked out for most of this season.

They get away with murder because Pike is way too loyal to them and needs to treat each of them as 1 of 12 players on the team....Geo should not start next game, but guaranteed he will....

because of Pike's horrific recruiting, you are exactly right, they are guaranteed to be starting because they know there is no one else
Bac do you have my back these days, as I'm pretty sure you were one of the pike lovers who were giving me **** for criticizing him up until now... Anyway that's all in the past. Boys we're in a deep load of s*** moving forward as it cupboard is completely bare for next year

It was off a rebound, not some set play to Harper. He sprinted down the court and took the shot. Why do you people need to find some overarching reason for every single bad thing that happens. Sometimes you just lose man.
There was enough time to get the ball to the hot hand. Ron simply wanted to be the hero.

not starting geo…. Not gonna happen and I don’t blame pike for continuing to give geo a starting spot for the rest of his senior year

However - totally agree that pike needs to pull him / bench him in the same way we would any other player (McConnell) . Imho THAT is a legit criticism of pikes handling of geo

I don't know why I even read here in the hours after a loss. Or any other time, really.

I unfortunately missed the first half and was watching the second half on a phone while out to dinner. Was Geo making mental errors or playing outside the team concept? Did he play bad defensively? I saw that one bad pass near the end of the game and was shocked to see he had 0 points.

I feel if he is just missing shots he shouldn’t be pulled.

oh you need to watch the first half to see the full effect. It snowballed from just the normal bad start to total breakdown on all levels from players to coaches. I was not surprised and you probably arent either. I know you dont believe in the concept of effort but it wasnt there.

I believe in the concept. I just don’t believe it’s likely that we weren’t trying in the first half and the first couple minutes of the second half and then for some reason decided to start trying for the rest of the game.

But that question was about Geo specifically.

Geo did his typical no show, you have seen it before, clanking shots, I think maybe he was 0-4. I dont think he was any particular worse than anyone else as Harper was brutal. Only Paul and Cliff bothered to show up. Our defense was horrendous across the board and the mistakes multiplied as they did in the Maryland game both times. The bench as usual provided nothing and Pikiell was not able to push any of the right buttons.

its that there is no poise, if you think not going for loose balls or rebounds doesnt involve effort I dont know what to tell uyou

But that question was about Geo specifically.

The whole team was awful across the board in the first half (aside from Paul and Cliff).

2nd half it was basically Paul, Cliff, Reiber and and to a slight extent Ron providing any offense.

Baker was bad, but almost non-existent at points. Which cannot happen when you play 38 minutes. Zero points in 38 minutes is inexcusable. Mag also only had 2 points in 22 minutes. Hard to win with that.

The problem tonight also was that McConnell was dreadful and got benched for Mag and Hyatt also looked horrible for the 2 minutes he played. Miller and Palmquist are nonexistent on offense.

Baker had probably the worst game of his career considering the minutes he logged and that last pass of his but we also didn’t have many other options, which is a reflection on recruiting.
