I think everyone owes him and Pike an apology
Pike is a coach making millions. Yes he did a great job tonight in the second half but his inane subs in the first half killed momentum.
Reiber is a kid who we all thought was low D 1 material. I don’t know that he’ll start in this league but he can be a more than serviceable backup. His D was great and that pass when Cliff went out was a thing of beauty.

Every player has a role and we haven't had a big who can pass and willing to take a set shot....the pass setting up Harper for a layup, was the play of the game for him.

I am not going to say this is a roster full of front line talent, but Pike has carved out a role for Reiber against smaller front lines. You need to have versatility and smarts to play when you don't have elite athletes......

I saw high school tape on him, he is that stretch big you want on your team that you see on Davidson, Wisconsin, Winthrop, Loyola Ill, Belmont, etc. Just needed time to develop and gain confidence.

THIS. I've long thought Reiber had something. I just liked it from the first game he entered and how the guys were reacting to him. He can play ball. He's got the right attitude.

Reiber isn’t flashy, but weirdly makes a big impact. He’s great at angles and has good hands. He’s not the best defender and fouls a lot but he will get better.
I thought his defense was solid today, and in general it’s not that bad. His offense is better than I thought - above average passing and finishes strong, Since last year didn’t count he’s technically only a freshman.

IL Lusciato - I made a post earlier in the season that I liked Reiber's potential, and hoped that he would start playing over Agee, and I think that you were the only one who liked it!

Here's a winning moment for Rieber... he stops Murray on two drives.. the third time.. Rieber just tries to shoot over him and misses. Made Murray SURRENDER.

Palmquist was absolutely brutal. I hate to be so harsh on a kid but he killed us on three straight defensive trips and does zero on offense. He blew an assignment for an easy offensive layup, got pushed to the baseline for another easy basket and then missed a semi easy shot down low. He is not physical or fast enough. Belongs in lower level and can focus on hitting threes and playing against slower players.

I didn't love Reiber as a recruit bc I questioned his size to play the 5 in the B1G and didn't think he was athletic enough for the 4. The upside was he seemed to have a decent shot so hoped he could develop a 3 to stretch the court. He also seemed like a smart player with decent skills and feel for the game so trusted Pike.

Last year I was actually pleasantly surprised and saw a lot of flashes of potential that got my hopes up despite most of the board's opinion and said he was a player with a very good feel for the game. He knew how to play and it showed. Bigs take time to develop but the signs were there

This year he has shown clear improvement. Hitting some outside shots. Sliding to the basket. Decent timing for blocks. He is the better option at the 5, and if it's the right matchup, he can be effective and give us some buckets. Decent backup 5 overall with room for more upside as he gains confidence and develops

The one real concern with Dean is his lack of size to handle the bigger stronger centers. He still stands no chance against guys like Edey and Kofi but not many do. I wish we had Dean plus another 5 with some real size for those specfic types of matchups bc he will continue to have issues there this year butttt we really don't have any other options. Agee can't either. Luke can at least hold his ground but he's slow and wouldn't give us anything offensively. Can't wait to see Dean add some muscle for next season and take another jump in play defensively with that added size

But his game plans won us Purdue and IOWA. We are 5-2 in the b10. 8 wins in last eleven. Imagine without those 3 loses on last shots. I’ll deal with the quirky rotations.

Haha love it! Its probably true, because I really have liked the kid for a while. Glad to see him starting to come on and people recognizing it.

We saw it man.

much better offense with Cliff starting and Reiber the backup than it would have been with Myles mucking up the offense and Cliff the backup, which is why i wanted Myles gone.
I mean we did score less than 50 points lol

We could definitely use Myles although there is something to be said about his lack of offense. His size and length alone we could really use. His defense, shot blocking, and rebounding were all very good
