I’ve been tough on both. But this is the first game since last season that Reiber showed me something - and he was a huge part of the win today. Can he build on this is the question and be a legit backup 5?
I’m all for that. If they respect his outside shot it helps open up things. D wasn’t bad today.Reiber will continue to struggle on D against much of the B10 competition. He always had an outside game and can be effective that way if he applies himself.

This. He doesn't have the strength to handle the bigger meatier 5's but can hold his own against othersHes a good helpside defender.
He has no chance against guys like Cockburn, I think he could fare decent against Jackson-Davis.
Basically any one strong he has no shot
You’re tough on everybody.I’ve been tough on both. But this is the first game since last season that Reiber showed me something - and he was a huge part of the win today. Can he build on this is the question and be a legit backup 5?
The weight room is huge for Dean. Hopefully next season he adds a few lbs of muscle and is more equipped to bangYou're going to see a much different Reiber as he continues to put time in the weight room. He'll be a better post defender and rebounder. He's getting more confident offensively and he'll continue to be coached up to improve his footwork and body control down low. I also liked the little I saw from Agee today. He seemed less hesitant.

This this this.I posted a couple of weeks ago after seeing Agee flounder as a 5th senior making freshman mistakes that all of Agee’s minutes should go to Dean. I’m glad they now are! The kid is a project, but with freshman eligibility he’s definitely worth the investment!
If he gives up points in the paint and hits threes in the flow that's fine by me. Just have the other guy work for it.It was nice to see Reiber make some plays offensively but I think the real need is for him to play some defense and rebound. Unfortunately those are still big question marks with his game.
to be fair, I don't see Cliff stopping the bigger big 10 centers from backing into the basket for a short shot..... our centers try like hell, and we just cannot do it....Reiber will continue to struggle on D against much of the B10 competition. He always had an outside game and can be effective that way if he applies himself.
Agree. In this scenario, he at least holds his own while in the game… which is as much, or even more, than you can expect from a backup. If he gives up points in the paint and hits threes in the flow that's fine by me. Just have the other guy work for it.
Who has a chance against Cockburn ?Hes a good helpside defender.

Not many and I am talking not just the big ten have a chance against him but if we did what we did against Purdue and take three’s away and give his share we can beat Illinois alsoHes a good helpside defender.

Myles Johnson did a decent jobWho has a chance against Cockburn ?
Reiber looks to have a decent wingspan to meReiber needs 15lbs of muscle to have a chamce defensively. He looks 6'8" and doesn't have a long wingspan. Hopefully he can continue to develop his offensive game while putting on much needed size.
Nathan probably stands the best chance bc hes the only one with enough size to hold his ground. Reiber and Agee stand no chanceWho has a chance against Cockburn ?
Actually, he struggled quite a bit vs Cockburn in the B1G playoff game last year. Myles got into foul trouble very early in the game trying to guard Cockburn, and fouled out after playing only 17 minutes.Myles Johnson did a decent job
That was a stretch by Pike. But he needed a body. He's a puppy and a larger guy. They always take long to develop. Agee needs his minutes cut. He has not impressed me at all at any point.
I'm happy for him. He needed a confidence builder of a game. Obviously I don't know him personally but his general demeanor appears timid. That could be just the way he carries himself but he plays intelligently. With confidence, he's a contributor in the rotation.Let Reiber play himself out of the backup center spot. He ran the floor quite well yesterday and teammates were looking to feed him though I think Dean wasn’t ready for the ball at times. I think yesterday’s game gave him confidence. Against PSU however Agee may be a better match up against Harrar.
I just think Dean needs confidence when the lights come on. Per the comments of Pike and his teammates - he plays well in practice. Now just translate it to game day - which he did yesterday - and we have an adequate back up 5.I'm happy for him. He needed a confidence builder of a game. Ya and as hitting those shots is more likely than him getting strong enough to handle the bigger bigs in the B1G, I'm wary of him hitting the weight room too much.If he gives up points in the paint and hits threes in the flow that's fine by me. Just have the other guy work for it.
