Can’t complain about the lineup when you scored 93 points. Can’t complain about his offense either when he scored 5 points in 2 minutes in the game. Find something else to complain about, for example any thread on the Nebraska board currently probably !

The box score shows he played 4 minutes.

So if he played the full game we're talking a 50 point game!

But when you blow the other team out of the water by 28 ....you can afford to mess with the basketball gods.

Seriously, figure Jones will be used big time next year with Caleb, Harper Jr and Geo gone.

Hopefully the veterans are still embracing Jones as much as the guys that were in today's rotation and helping him work on what he needs to do to help the TEAM. As others have said, I think Jones has the talent and just needs to find his footing.

There was a good contingent of people who were ready to move on from Baker, McConnell and Mulcahy and adamant their minutes needed replaced by Hyatt and Jones.

The past 5-6 games have brought some of this fanbase back to reality.

We have an experienced team that has fairly high potential but struggled a bit early in the season. We also have some younger talent that has potential, but might not be quite ready yet.

I like the way Pikiell has managed the rotation this year. Some of this fanbase needs to have a little more patience and trust, that’s all.

Hyatt has all the tools to be good on both ends of the court. He is surprisingly looking lost on D but I think he comes around and is a key contributor

I watched Jaden carefully on D (my seats are in section 105). I watched his face, body language on D. He looked more engaged. He is being coached to improve his hustling, rebounding and his overall D, and I saw improvement in the 4 minutes on D in this game.

Jaden has so much potential. This year is about him learning how to be a confident, energetic, reliable, complete player, so he can develop into a strong starter next season. I am rooting hard for him to do just that, and I am going to enjoy his development process.

Agree on Jones. Making 2 shots in garbage time isn’t moving the needle either. He needs to show development on defense. So far he just doesn’t seem ready to defend BIG level perimeter players.

I disagree with your take on Hyatt not being ready to defend at this level as he was an above average defender at LSU. Seems to me that for him there’s been a learning curve adjusting to the RU defense as opposed to the pace of the game at the high major level itself.

Jones has not been bad....his stat line, pairs or lines up or exceeds a lot of recent frosh at RU.....kid is maybe 19 years old and looks wildly different than he did in a few garbage time minutes last spring.

He has a good looking shot and can get his own offense off the dribble at 6'8".....those types of offensive players are few and far between, if you're expecting them to light up the scoreboard as a frosh.

The McGowens kid for Nebraska who has about 15 or so, is a 5* player and he is uber-talented....it's very difficult to stand out unless you play on a bad team and get a green light to shoot.

This has been my issue with his play. Lack of energy, intensity, rebounding, etc

I seriously believe the coaching staff is working to improve Jaden’s D/rebounding intensity right now. Jaden is too critical to this team to not be focused on this right now, not this summer, as this kind of development doesn’t happen overnight.

Those two buckets will do wonders for his confidence, because he has been bricking so much…I feel he was more relaxed in garbage time, no pressure, so hopefully can carry over if he needs extended minutes down tge road. But for now he’s #9 or 10 off bench

Relax on he's been bad stuff.....he's not all B1G, he's a frosh and has tons of upside

First it was Caleb isn't good....

Then it was Hyatt isn't good.....

Then it was Mag isn't a B1G caliber recruit

Let's the kids develop at their own speed and give it time.....Jones is a legit and complete offensive player....another year in weight room and dialing in on defense, RU has another piece to the puzzle.

I agree with your comments about Jones having the physical tools but question his intensity and passion level . On the other hand I couldn't agree more with what you said about Jalen Miller in the BAC thread. I hadn't read your comments when I posted mine that I thought the overall team intensity level and passion on defense increased when Pike removed Miller's redshirt and started playing him. Tough defense can be contagious and Miller's fearless intensity has really sparked overall play.

I have seen a lot of the same as you. For example, in the Michigan game, he lost the ball and JOGGED back. The player who stole the ball was very catchable (that a word?) but he didn't put in the effort to catch him and try and disrupt the play.

Its just one example,, but you'll never get extended minutes on a Pike team doing that.

Today, the effort on both ends was there. He had some key rebounds, and he reallllllllly helped us on offense today,

Glad you posted this. There are moments when Jaden passes the eye test, where he seems physically and mentally engaged on D. It’s only glimpses right now, but once it clicks for him, we’ll see him on the floor a lot more.

I believe in the system that Pike has created, that “the D will set you free.” Look no further than the PT Miller has been earning, and now we’re starting to see him mix it up more on offense as well. It’s just a matter of time before Jaden’s full potential is unleashed.

Not sure how....maybe since LSU was good and he didn't score it was assumed he must be a good defensive player.
