I’m here thinking… why the short rotation?
Then I realized… no JJ all game

He's been bad. Nice couple buckets though. Hopefully he builds on it. He has a ton of potential

Relax on he's been bad stuff.....he's not all B1G, he's a frosh and has tons of upside

First it was Caleb isn't good....

Then it was Hyatt isn't good.....

Then it was Mag isn't a B1G caliber recruit

Let's the kids develop at their own speed and give it time.....Jones is a legit and complete offensive player....another year in weight room and dialing in on defense, RU has another piece to the puzzle.

Can’t complain about the lineup when you scored 93 points. Can’t complain about his offense either when he scored 5 points in 2 minutes in the game. Find something else to complain about, for example any thread on the Nebraska board currently probably !

He has been bad. I'm not saying he stinks. He has a ton of potential and is a freshman but his play has been very poor lately. Can't deny it

I was the leader of the Caleb bandwagon from before he even stepped foot on campus and said he would be fine.

I loved the Hyatt transfer

I was extremely high on Mag

Don't put words in my mouth and make inferences that weren't there

Great win, GREAT to see Jones come in and knock a couple down, but let's be honest: he HAS struggled so far this season. Just as others did - Caleb unexpectedly - early on. It IS okay to criticize. We're fans, it's allowed, it's been done for centuries and all around the world.

Exactly you can say he has been playing poor lately. It's obvious. Pike clearly saw it too with the reduced minutes.

That has NOTHING to do with thinking he won't still be an awesome player for us. Doesn't mean we have to just pretend he wasn't struggling

Jones has not been bad....his stat line, pairs or lines up or exceeds a lot of recent frosh at RU.....kid is maybe 19 years old and looks wildly different than he did in a few garbage time minutes last spring.

He has a good looking shot and can get his own offense off the dribble at 6'8".....those types of offensive players are few and far between, if you're expecting them to light up the scoreboard as a frosh.

The McGowens kid for Nebraska who has about 15 or so, is a 5* player and he is uber-talented....it's very difficult to stand out unless you play on a bad team and get a green light to shoot.

Thanks for admitting the obvious. Agree with everything you said here. Never said anything to contradict that though

Your coach looks like he is building a culture of playing TEAM basketball and he is willing to sacrifice talent for it.

Thats how I read into this too. Jaden's body language and defense in some of those early games were not acceptable.

In this era, of easy transfers being rampant, I worry about young players like this getting fustrated and discouraged. But right now our team has a TON of experienced guys at his position. He has to continue to learn and earn his way into the rotation. And if the other guys continue to play well, that might not happen meaningfully this season. But he's definitely a player we need around for the future and he will play a big role.

I just wanted to highlight that this post is getting a lot of LIKES for a good reason...

"Let's the kids develop at their own speed and give it time"

When that giant sucking sound was centered in Piscataway in November we were all searching for heroes to come rescue the season and put a lot of expectations on Jones' shoulders. Maybe it is like how in football many want Wimsatt to be the instant hero at QB.

I loved seeing Agee and Jones get time this game and I expect Pike will balance development, rewarding players for good practices, etc.. the team is playing great team basketball even with subs in. Things are going well now... hope the coaches and players can keep things rolling.

Let’s not forget the viruses that had been going around the team. Seems like Hyatt and Jones play has been off since they were sick. Sometimes it takes a while to recover. Hyatt has looked much better these last two games. Hopefully Jones is feeling 100% and his shooting gets back on track. Today his shot looked better.

Hyatt’s play has rewarded him serious minutes of late. He played 20 today. He is seen as a key reserve. Let Jones get some games under his belt and more confidence and hopefully see the same in the future. As stated he is a freshman

He’s a year older than Gavin Wimsatt and competing in the best MBB conference in the country.

Are you already sharpening your knives for GW next Fall?

For some who were the superstar of their high school teams, it hard to accept as a freshman that the competition, size and talent at the college level is so much greater. He has a lot going for him and needs to be patient with learning from the coaches, have a positive attitude and do his strength and conditioning. How many over the last 2 years said Paul was not B1G caliber. This year has been a breakout year for him. I look forward to people in 2 years comparing Jones to Douby. Wouldn’t that be great.

Why is it so difficult for some to hold 2 seperate thoughts at the same time?

1. Jones has played poor lately

2. Jones has tons of potential and will be a star

People are seeing posters say 1... which is hard to dispute... then using the ole straw man of 2

No one here is unfairly bashing Jones

First you are arguing with someone that virtually never criticizes a player and I’ve been on this board for decades. You Gavin comment is just stupid.

go back and check him out running up court on both offense and defense. The lack of hustle just gives off a bad vibe. Maybe he’s pissed he’s buried on the bench, IDK. Nothing he can’t correct in a nanosecond.

I was happy to see the 2 baskets today. Rooting for him to untap that potential.
We really haven't had a tall long wing that can score from all 3 levels the way Jones can. With those long strides he can get to the lane and with his long arms and body control he can finish from all sorts of angles.

Jones has been bad. PERIOD!

End of discussion.

So has Hyatt. Played better offensively today. Mag will take his minutes when healthy. Hyatt just isn’t ready to defend at this level.

Body language for Jones, Agee and Reiber all good today. Early in the year they looked tense and played tense. Today they looked loose. Agee didn’t play much but his body language tells me he is getting comfortable.

This is a TEAM for sure. Chemistry looking good right now.

Good point. Look at Jonathan Davis with the Badgers. He played a lot more than Jones last year and looked totally average with 7 ppg. This year he is arguably the MVP of the league. I’m not saying Jaden is Davis, but the point is valid. Some kids take longer to develop and Jones has got some very senior players ahead of him, so not many minutes available.
