Anyone remember Joe Jarldane? Is Reiber our big man version of Souf Mensah?
Reiber is bad but Souf was in a class by himself. Is Reiber our big man version of Souf Mensah?
Yes, we’ve had many ineffective big men. We miss Myles as a rebounder and he got offensive put backs. Agee is simply not big enough to replace Myles. Harrar would have been ideal. What surprised me the most was how the combination of Harper, Geo and Caleb couldn’t help close on a good big man. Maybe it’s because it took Geo and Ron so long to decide if they were coming back? They should have made that decision alot earlier and maybe it would have helped?Anyone remember Joe Jarldane?
I got a Joe Jarldane game jersey on ebay. Not kidding. I think it was part of a Court Club auction once and the winner somehow didn't cherish it enough to hold onto it.Anyone remember Joe Jarldane?
If he ended up at Maine, then everyone missed on him. Not like Pike was the only one.A miss was not getting the guy who played center for Maine. They got him in portal. I don’t think we even looked at him. He made some nice plays against Cliff and has the size.
I was hopeful but I’m at the point of the season where I feel comfortable judging things and don’t think Reiber or Oskar have enough for this level. Mag flashed a little last year so glad he seems to be taking the next step, just haven’t seen it from the other 2 outside of Reiber’s (I think first or second) game action against Garza.I thought that Reiber would have been a factor as a big man this season. Palmquist as well. At least Mag is showing promise. Hope he gets extended minutes today vs CCSU.
If Dean wants minutes only one way to do it--transfer down.I thought that Reiber would have been a factor as a big man this season. Palmquist as well. At least Mag is showing promise. Hope he gets extended minutes today vs CCSU.
Of the group, Myles was the best, but I also liked Biruta's game.We really haven't had a ton of luck with bigs in the last decade plus. Looking at all the guys who've played the 5 (either all C, or a mix of PF/C) since N'Diaye left in 2010 (and their best statistical season at RU). Sorted by pts/g, current players in partial season in bold.
K. Jack (14.3 pts, 6.8 rb, 29.3 min)
C. Omoruyi (11.8 pts, 6.8 rb, 26.9 min)
G. Biruta (9.7 pts, 5.3 rb, 25.5 min)
M. Johnson (8.0 pts, 8.5 rb, 24.7 min)
C. Gettys (7.7 pts, 5.2 rb, 22.0 min)
W. Judge (7.5 pts, 6.2 rb, 22.8 min)
A. Johnson (5.7 pts, 2.5 rb, 17.5 min)
G. Lewis (5.3 pts, 4.5 rb, 23.8 min)
S. Carter (4.5 pts, 3.6 rb, 14.0 min)
S. Doorson (3.7 pts, 4.3 rb, 17.8 min)
I. Diallo (3.6 pts, 3.4 rb, 15.7 min)
C. Sa (3.2 pts, 2.8 rb, 13.5 min)
R. Gonzalez-Agee (3.2 pts, 1.6 rb, 11.2 min)
M. Doucoure (2.8 pts, 3.2 rb, 13.1 min)
D. Randall (2.5 pts, 2.4 rb, 11.3 min)
D. Reiber (0.8 pts, 0.8 rb, 5.8 min)

Pikiell said after the game that Agee was on a airplane returning to New Jersey.Agee not here for Ccsu game
Yeah but he was the only one to get Gonzalez-Agee and Reiber. If he ended up at Maine, then everyone missed on him. Not like Pike was the only one.
There was no one in the portal that could fill a backup center role better than Agee-Gonzales? How about a serviceable backup PG? Recruiting, whether it’s HS or the portal needs to pick up.I am not advocating that Agee is a good B1G caliber post player, but it didn't take much game tape to watch and see Agee was a perimeter big, who is better away from the basket. His San Jose State tape, clearly showed him mostly around the elbow (foul-line), facing the basket.
When a player transitions to a different level of competition AND you then ask the player to do something he has not shown on tape, a consistent game in the low-post, it is hard to then complain about the players performance.
In a comparison, we asked Paul Mulcahy in the 1st 10 games, to be a guard and the results on both ends of the floor were clearly not good....we moved Mulcahy back to more of a wing position against Maine (yes I know it's Maine), but suddenly Paul gets 4 for 4 from 3, knocking down a corner 3 and 3s from the wing.
All of the positions on the floor are connected or impact the other positions to be at their best IF the pieces fit.....because Mulcahy ultimately cannot really be a Point Guard on either end of the court, he is moved to the wing to become effective (which is where Caleb can play, but they've asked Caleb to be more of the other guard position, instead of Mulcahy.......Mulcahy playing the wing, ultimately impacts the playing time of Jones and Hyatt....
Pike has to do a better job carving out roles on the bench, while trying to get the most out of the starters. Agee at really 6'7, isn't a true backup Center....especially if he is not a leaper, who has long arms to be a rebounder/defender.
.....and both have cool namesJust for comparison's sake, so far this year:
Agee:
11.2 min, 3.2 pts (.500 FG%, .583 FT%), 1.5 RB, 0.4 ast, 0.1 stl, 0.2 blk, 1.0 pf
Paulicap:
10.5 min, 3.5 pts (.514 FG%, .588 FT%), 3.6 RB, 0.2 ast, 0.2 stl, 1.0 blk, 1.5 pf
Paulicap working out slightly better at WVU with more rebounds and blocks in a touch fewer minutes.
I’ve been saying from the beginning there’s more behind what is going on with him. Maybe an Antonio brown issuemakes me wonder if there is more to this
classic post....lolReiber is bad but Souf was in a class by himself.
with who?...Agee?...please elaborate....I’ve been saying from the beginning there’s more behind what is going on with him. Maybe an Antonio brown issue

Agreed. I watched Reiber in one of the early games his freshmen year. I do not know what our coaches saw in him. Didn't need to see him do anything more than run and knew he was not going to be an asset. He has one of the most unathletic gaits I have ever seen. What evidence did you see to believe this?
How’s that a douche thing. AB is going through mental issues you never know Agee could be the in the same boat considering the way he seems to not be fully checked in to the game and you can easily see that when he plays on the floor. What has the guy done for you to equate him to Antonio Brown? Starting this type of message board rumor / speculation without any backup is pretty much a douchy thing to do - especially to a college player.
