I think we also offered his teammate Marty Curtis, who isn’t necessarily the highest ranked recruit (even though he’s def a decent player from the tape I’ve seen), so I wondered if they are tryna get recruited together. Would be a big get for us, a real big dude with some nice touch and athleticism.

Didn't we offer him long ago? But know, I hate threads advertising top players - that we probably know isn't even considering RU that much

You hate threads letting people know we offered a recruit?

Yes, if he can keep his cool and not implode first. Have you ever heard his language when he coaches?

Another example of the Big East lifeline paying dividends for UConn. Hurley can certainly recruit and he seems to carry himself more like Calhoun than Pikiell does. Not saying that in a derogatory manner toward Steve but just as an observation.

The clearly sacrificed football for basketball. UConn is no longer a threat in anything but basketball in the Northeast.

Just so we are all on the same page Danny Hurley really has not done much of anything as a head coach. We act as if this man walks on water however at Wagner he did not win a championship never even finished in 1st place in the NEC, yes that NEC. At rhode island he did not win a championship and finally was able to get a first place finish in his 6th year. Did have two ncaas in a arguably watered down A-10. Now at UCONN in year 3 he finishes 15-8 in a bad big east yet makes ncaa tournement. UCONN who had a couple bad years still managed two national championships in the last 12 years…. On top of all this he was scared to take the Rutgers job.

Connecticut is not Jersey. They get one or two high level guys a year. So if you are Hurley and UConn, and you have a high level guy like Clingan in your backyard he is a must get. If you don’t get him it is an embarrassment.

Scared to take the Rutgers job or was UConn offering a bigger compensation package and....is UConn willing to look the other way on things RU isn't?

He was scared. I believe he said it would take at least 7 years for RU to become successful. Steve got us to 20 wins in his fourth year and we finished 1919-20 as # 28 in Kenpom but no NCAA Tournament that season because of the pandemic. Steve has done a remarkable job.
