You think he beats out Peters? I don't. I see him more as a backup and Bielema needed insurance as all the other QB's on the roster are pure dual-threat QB's.
G
Find me a Head Coach that tells someone, an incoming player, that he has NO shot to play ?......and.....I'll show you a guy selling Insurance or working at Alabama as an "analyst" for Saban hoping somebody on his Assistants Staff get's a job elsewhere soon.
He wasn't promise the job, they have a 6th year grad as their starting QB

Still has to prove he is one.
Has P5 talent, but that hasn't shown up enough to make him one yet.
Just has the type of talent P5 schools recruit
Artur will have to beat out Brandon Peters ( their 2019 starter)
and Isaiah Williams ( RU fans should remember his running from last year's Illinois -RU game)
Don’t see him beating out Peters and Williams has too much athleticism to be on the bench. Art is 3-string now competing to move up.

I thought the same. Then I checked and Monmouth University has had at least 3 tight ends over the years drafted by the NFL — John Nalbone, Neal Sterling, and Hakeem Valles.

You’re lost here buddy. Recruited by many P5 teams and played well for us last year. You don’t have to apologize but no need to double down either. Just know you are wrong. That is all.

Art just never had "it".
He had all the physical attributes, but he was never good under pressure. I really don't expect that to change.
He will be a solid contributor to the QB room at ILL, but I dont see him as their starter.
The IT that kids in college have today is the ability to run which gives you one on one all over the field. Art does not have THAT but he can make throws like not many others. Reading the D develops over time. Throw out his first year because that was on the staff more than him. He played pretty well after that and will continue to develop. He just is not a good fit for what we are doing here now. Illinois is a good fit. I hope he throws 3 INTs all season and all against us.

You must have missed this part of my critique
"Has P5 talent, but that hasn't shown up enough to make him one yet."
( meaning being considered a starting P-5 QB at this time)
Not doubling down, just clarifying an opinion I posted)
As for your saying :"Recruited by many P5 teams"
( that goes with what I stated: "Just has the type of talent P5 schools recruit"

You can also throw out his senior year in HS when Artur left the Old Bridge N.J. HS FB program to play for the IMG Academy in Brandon, Florida.
Seems like he lost the starting QB roll there before the season was out and ended the season on the bench.
Guess a HS program that's supposed to make players better than regular HS programs, failed to do that with Sitklowski, or did a better job with the QB ( ZackAnnexstad) that replaced Artur who wound up starting for Minnesotan as a walk on his freshman season.( though lost it to Tanner Morgan later that year)

Sit might have P-5 talent, but except for a few flashes of it at Rutgers, Sit hasn't proved he have that talent show up on a constant enough bases to be giver the startling role.

Coach Bielema just shortened the QB portion of the Illinois depth chart. Isaiah Williams moved to WR.

If Art is 2nd sting then he will see some action next urar
Another NJ athlete to Illinois, class of 2022, TE Owen Anderson — Montgomery HS, then Hun post grad. 6’4” 235.

IW was moved to WR/Slot after the Spring game, at his request.

Most of the big schools that wanted him out of HS wanted him to go to WR and not QB. Lovie promised him a shot at QB, but not to be.

So Art is clearly the back up to Peters at either 2 or 3 depending on his work at Champaign before the opener. He then can fight it out for the next years.
I might have to rethink my I tail reaction of he wi t see the field.

1. BP is a 6th year senior, no future there.

.2. IW moved to WR, that make Art the backup QB

3. if BP struggle coming out of the gate, coach will probably turn to Art who has 3 years of eligibility

4. if they are out of bowl contention after 7-8 games, you must give your back up the rock. He has 3 years of eligibility, have to find out what he has before the new QB recruit arrived.

5. The more I think about it AS is currently in the better position now then if he had stayed on the Banks.
This will be an interesting year for him

NOBODY is promised the rainbow.

BUT since I follow Illinois (Son 2) , NAVY (Son 3), Syracuse (Me), UCinn (Son 1) and Rutgers (My Dad), I am aware of the QB rooms at both Ill and RU schools.

He is coming into Champaign around June 1 to start summer conditioning. The second string QB from last year, the one that BEAT Rutgers, is moving to WR and so Art will be one sprained ankle away from Starting next fall. if he does what Illinois coaches and I expect him to do; Become # 2 on the depth chart. I should mention that a PWO QB from last year is expected to enter the transfer portal (do walk ons have to enter the portal ), as he wasn't thrilled that the QB Coach and Off Co ord told him he would be better at TE.

it is a pretty common thing.. F.A.M.I.L.Y. though I should note.. when I first heard about it with our team.. I thought it was a joke. Forget About Me, I Love You? I get it.. it worked.. really good TEAMMATE-first dynamic thing.

I will root for Art for all but one game.. unless we need him to fail for some other reason.. if he earns the spot.
I will root for Art.

This is a good move by the head coach. The QB is a 6yr.
player. So in some ways Sit will have experience with the team next year. So Ill
won't have to start from scratch. Sit will be familiar with the team.

Great observations.
Now all Artur and Illinois has to do is harness his talent to be ready if and when he's thrust into the starting role .

Had to do a double take - QB transfers to a team on our schedule? Our cross-division rival that we play every year/basically transferring within the division?? Well something tells me he has something to prove clearly there was some bad blood...

per his twitter:

LOL. I'm sure his new teammates know that can their new 3rd rate QB when the going gets tough. Good riddance.

Kyle Trask never started a game in HS and only started 2 years for Florida and was just drafted in the 2nd round. I guess he found IT.

I’m rooting for Art. He has a shot to make an NFL roster. He has the size and the arm and just needs reps to get better at what he struggled with his true freshman year. Cut back on mistakes and make more plays. He did that the last 2 seasons in a limited role. He just needs to build on that. If he doesn’t that’s okay too. Good luck to him.

Definitely needs new scenery and better coaching when he first came to Rutgers
Artur needed to redshirt his freshman season, not be thrown in and have that season sacrificed .
Same thing happens to the kid who was at Green Bay the last couple of years. U Conn threw him to the wolves his true freshman year. He actually dropped a level and still made the NFL. Same size and arm as Art. I guess he found IT too.

Remember, he still has three years to craft his skills. He improved a pretty good amount from the disaster of his true freshman year, which in all honesty, he was lucky to even survive. I hope he continues to progress (except against RU if he plays). Good luck in Illinois Art.

Art shown improvement, but not enough to win the starting job.
He threw 68 passes in 2019 in 3 games
82 in 2020 playing 4 games
Seems like if Sit had improved enough to have people think he's a lock to succeed as the Fighting Illini QB, the Rutgers job would have been his to lose, not leave because he felt he couldn't earn the starters job .
Wishful thinking made him go to IGM and be benched and wishful;l thinking put jim in the Rutgers starting lineup until Sit proved not ready for prime-time surrounded by not ready for primetime players.

We can wish Artur well, but better not expected it to happen.
Do you really feel the Illinois OC/QB coach Peterson will do a better job with Sitkowsli
than Gleeson could.
Or did Sitkowski jump to a program that he felt he would have a better chance because of that school not having the type of players at the QB spot that would give him the competition Snyder and Simon would this season and Wimsatt would *** in 2022.

Sitkowski left because he wasn't ready for primetime as a Scarlet Knight QB and faced a bigger challenge to prove worthy enough to leave the bench than he will be facing as Fighting Illini QB trying to get off the bench and into the game.

Artur left Old Bridge thinking IGM would be a great place for him, didn't happen.
Sit cam to Rutgers looking to be the man, didn't happen
Now Sitkowski is headed to Illinois to prove he has it, we'll see what happens.
But don't tell me Sit proved he's capable of being a good P-5 QB because of his limited play in 2019 and 2020

Edit: it was pointed out to me I put down the wrong info about the High School Sitkowski played for his senior year.
I put it as IGM when it should have been IMG Academy .
I thank the person who corrected me and apologize for my mistake

Appreciate the lengthy response and dont feel it was out of hatred as the above poster said. Your response was realistic and only time will tell if he snaps the ball on the field and how he will do over the next three years. FYI, IGM = Immunoglobulin M. IMG is where Art played.

In a perfect world, Peters will start every game for Illinois and Noah will do the same for RU.

Neither one has shown that degree of luck/desire so far in their college careers.

Then the next year both programs are back to square 1 with QB's that weren't Starters the previous year tapped into starting.

Which team will have the best Skill position players at OL will determine each QB's success or failure. More likely than not Illinois will have Art, RU may have a true freshman.

He’s definitely good enough to start. I hope he doesn’t against us.

Poster above can’t stop hating. He’s consumed by his hatred of a 21 year old kid. Loserville
Questioning how well Artur will play is not hate, just can't see the greatness being anointed on Sit being justified at this point of his college career.
Until Sitkowski proves worthy of the praise he's getting from some in this thread ,he doesn't deserve that praise in my opinion.
I'm just showing he hasn't done enough in past to feel his success at Illinois is a forgone conclusion like some are implying.

I've seen worse getting PT in colleges.

Going from Old Bridge to IMG is like Monmouth to Da Ohigho Status.

I can gol durn gaunantee that he is better than what is behind Peters on campus at Illinois at this time.

The reason why I think Sitkowski will start against us is because of the improvement in his play, and the fact that Illini's coach saw it and wanted him. Being recruited by a coach is a lot different than being inherited. I think their coaches would love to have Sit play against us, he knows our defense well.
I think the reason why Sitkowski wasn't the starter here is because our coaches want a QB who can run like a deer, not because he wasn't a capable B1G QB. The guys that say Sit can't play good and should drop a level just didn't pay attention to Sitkowski when he was on the field. I will root for Sit except when he plays against Rutgers.

Would you consider Simon and/or Synder better than the Illinois QBs b that's behind Peters now, excluding Sitkowski

You could be right and it was the fit that kept Sit from playing, not the way he played when given a chance.
But he still has to show that the Illinois coaches were right going after him, by playing the way most here seem to feel he will.

Truth is, I won't root for Sit when he gets on the field at any time, unless he's going against a program I don't like and if he plays against Rutgers , let him play worse than he did as a freshman.
All I wish on Sit is stay injury free and get his degree.
How he plays isn't my concern
Illini fans can root for him to play well, I'm not a Fighting Illini fan

No. In a perfect world we find a capable B1G starting QB between now and September.
