Had to do a double take - QB transfers to a team on our schedule? Our cross-division rival that we play every year/basically transferring within the division?? Well something tells me he has something to prove clearly there was some bad blood...

Illinois with Bielema looks like they're going pro-style. Big mistake if you ask me. Wisconsin was a system school architected by Alvarez he's got his finger on the pulse of recruiting and how that program is run. What worked at Wisconsin isn't going to work at Illinois.

Don‘t overthink this. A scholarship and an opportunity at a Big Ten program is appealing. And remember that schools have graphic designers who are paid just to make logos like that.

Okay, many ifs here, but I could see it very well working out for Art. I wish him luck except on Rutgers week. If BB can get the OL to block, and a strong running game, Art could be the strong arm game manager type. I know Illinois lost receivers, but if they find a few and Mike Epstein stays healthy they might be alright.

I’m not sure, Bielema can definitely recruit OLs and there tend to be more quality OLs in the Midwest. He will want a run heavy offense. It will probably take some time to put all that together. I don’t think anyone wants a statue at QB anymore , everyone wants someone who can run the zone read and the RPO game.

Then why did he just put Art on scholarship? He has 3 dual-threat QB's on his roster and Art runs like a wounded Giraffe.

The plan didn't work out too well at Arkansas. I guess we will see how it works at Illinois.

Funny how so many said he wasn't a P5 QB
Still has to prove he is one.
Has P5 talent, but that hasn't shown up enough to make him one yet.
Just has the type of talent P5 schools recruit
Artur will have to beat out Brandon Peters ( their 2019 starter)
and Isaiah Williams ( RU fans should remember his running from last year's Illinois -RU game)

IW was moved to WR/Slot after the Spring game, at his request.

Most of the big schools that wanted him out of HS wanted him to go to WR and not QB. Lovie promised him a shot at QB, but not to be.

So Art is clearly the back up to Peters at either 2 or 3 depending on his work at Champaign before the opener. He then can fight it out for the next years.

He had a three year run of 7-6, 8-5, 7-6... in the SEC East when Miss St, Ole Miss, Auburn we’re all red hot. Illinois has had like two winning seasons in 20+ years. I think Illinois fans would be just fine if he replicated that.

I'm thinking somewhere on an Illinois football thread, most of those same words were uttered about Rutgers recently.

You think he beats out Peters? I don't. I see him more as a backup and Bielema needed insurance as all the other QB's on the roster are pure dual-threat QB's.
You don’t transfer to be the backup. Promised the job or at least a good shot at it

per his twitter:

We had a whole slew of transfers from teams on our schedule last season. Schools/ coaches can not prevent transferring to an opponent anymore.
