I know the kid and his family.
The post has nothing to do with family. I know the kid, not his parents though. His post was about JQ not being a good teammate lol. Hes 182nd in America in assist rate, and shot 43% from 3 this year (both would be highest on RU). But someones saying he shoots too much and doesnt pass LOL. Cant make it up

Some sh*t went down with the mother at Hackensack and that was one if the reason he went to Hudson Catholic. The mother sent her younger son to Old Tappan after the incident. She is living through her kids looking for a meal ticket.

He is averaging only 3.2 assists per game. Today he didn't even start and still took 22 shots. He made 2 layups in OT in the last minute. Several times in the last 2 minutes he didn't even look to pass to anyone. He did ball hog much of the time and he turned 22 I think on Nov 25th. That means he turned 19 on Nov 25th of his senior year in high school. He must have just barely qualified to play his senior year in high school according to NJSIAA regulations. The kid hardly played at Villanova where he must have been in the doghouse. He is a good player but as Hawk said he probably should move on already although he could wind up playing a few more years. He could be 25 when he finishes at Alabama.

1) he didnt put any reasonable effort into JQ
2) he told lou that hed take him only if he agreed to sit a year. It just shows how soft our guys were that pike was afraid to upset them by upgrading the roster. When u tell a kid “sit out”, it basically is telling them go scratch
1) I wouldn’t either. Have known this kid is a problem since high school and know people connected to Villanova who said he never bought in or changed. He looked lost on the court and pouted when he was on the bench. The cryptic social media posts only made it worse.
2) If Luther wanted Rutgers that badly, he would’ve accepted that. More coaches should show loyalty to their guys like Pike. Plus, everybody knew his shoulder was an issue. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Smh. Having inside info on JQ I can tell you that he got caught smoking weed at nova and was late to class a few times. Lol, some of us act like we never went to college

Jay Wright didnt like him as a person, had nothing to do with the player he was. Jahvons not your upstanding citizen type. Hes the type whos late to class and smokes weed.

This u?

1. We went from "first call had him in the bag if we wanted him" to "pikiell didnt blow him enough" very quickly.
2. Pikiell wanted him to sit out to not piss of players which was a problem for him yet he goes to alabama and ???????? Sits out?

Maybe just maybe pikiell spoke to jay wright and wright said it wasnt worth it. Maybe pikiell didnt want a second chance kid dictating terms. Maybe pikiell didnt want to deal with his family and be locked into having his bro on the team as well. Maybe pikiell was happy with his core guys and figured the risk wasnt worth it Maybe Quinerly wanted more than pikiell could give. Alot of things may have happened but the "first call" and "sit out a year" are BS talking points.

The sit out to not piss off players is probably the dumbest of all because Cliff started from day one. Montez got swapped midway through the year. If pikiell didnt want to piss players off why would he do that?

Why the hell would we want someone who is not an upstanding citizen?

1) the sit out thing was for lou, not jq
2) why would we want someone who is not an upstanding citizen? To win games. He smoked weed and came to class late, wah wah wah. Who cares

Yes and the posts both say the same thing. That hes not your typical nova white collar player. He smoked weed and was late to class

"Jahvons not your upstanding citizen type."

And this is from someone purportedly on his side. So why do you feel he would have been Pike's type?

Chemistry and culture are important. It's not a matter of just plugging in guys with the best stats - sometimes the whole is less than the sum of its parts.

Clearly Pike found success anyway, with tournament-level teams for the last two years.

22 year old RS Sophomore.....quickness, 1 on 1 talent, as seen tonight losing to UCLA, way too much 1 on 1 and didn't distribute the ball and get his better shooters, more opportunities.

If I am Quinerly, I declare for the NBA draft and move on with his basketball career, while he has some G League or draft potential. Definitely a kid that has a game that is really not suited for college basketball.

A backcourt of Quinerly, Young, Baker among others makes absolutely zero sense from a balance perspective and team perspective.....we could barely get Young to pass the ball and you're asking for another ballhog like Quinerly?? Harper, Myles or others would've never seen the basketball.....

Having overlapping talent at the same position isn't going to win games against better competition. Losing to UCLA should seal this conversation up on Quinerly. Very solid season off their bench, not the 2nd half or OT type of lead guard play and distribution, that wins basketball games against well coached teams.
he had 11 assists in previous game . efficiency numbers have been off the charts. look at his game logs.

He is a really talented player and has craftiness to go along with his quickness. He has been playing great for a few weeks and played very well most of the game yesterday. But his hero ball the last 10 minutes and in overtime cost them the game imo. I was surprised the coach didn't pull him out.

Watching UCLA and USC tonight and wondering which one of them Myles will wind up on next year. I’m not buying into to the Stanford story yet. My bet is UCLA.
Probably UCLA, unless a couple of the USC bigs leave early Myles may not be a starter there. But honestly I think he would have a much better chance at becoming a focal point offensively if he stayed at RU, though I know pro ball isn't his priority.

I get to some being late to communication class and smoking weed makes you evil but i couldnt care less if you help us win games.
Hey...I've been late to more than my fair share of classes. And I've smoked more than my share of weed.
But if you think things like that don't matter to Rutgers, you're rooting for the wrong school.

We couldve had him too after he left nova. His first call was RU. Huge miss by pike
Possible involvement in Arizona recruiting scandal, and then problems at Villanova... Maybe there were some risks/costs that Pike preferred to avoid...

Lol at saying that is not a “winning style of basketball” after losing in overtime in the sweet 16.

Or maybe our players are babies who have their feelings hurt way too easily 🤷‍♂️

Bottom line, I doubt he would fit into what is expected of a Rutgers basketball player. Let him try pro ball.

Some people don't understand our program and what has led us from where we were to where we are. How many years did we fail doing the wrong thing recruiting the wrong people.
There is no certainty that recruiting primarily 3 star players will produce sustained success in the B1G.Rutgers margin for error in most league games was very small because of the inconsistent scoring.

Quinerly seems like the type of kid who would not have panned out playing close to home at Rutgers.

He was immature and had some baggage when we had to opportunity to go after him. I think Pikiell wasn’t interested because he could have been a cancer to the locker room or not bought into the program....not because he could have hurt kids feelings.

It seems like he may have matured a bit at Bama and being away from home probably helped that. No issues with Pikiell not brining him in.

How do you explain not going after lou then? I dont think many realize how sensitive some of the kids we have on our team are. Sensitive to the point where when your best player is quiet he gets thrown on the bench because the coach thinks he wont start **** in the locker room

You're just totally making **** up now. It's obvious Quinerly wasn't pursued because of his baggage. and i know you will argue this till the cows come home but LM wasn't any better than what we had in an already crowded backcourt. No reason to bring him in.

Move on already.

No explanation on Lou - didn’t follow him or his situation closely to have an opinion.

Young lead the team in assists/100...

Quinerly lead Alabama in assists/100...

This is a horrible post. Quinerly took Bama to victory down the stretch last week and overall he’s an offensive beast
Jacob led the team with 94 Assists....and 83 turnovers.
I appreciated what Jacob did for the team, but that
Assist/Turnover ratio is abysmal. We need a true point
guard. Ask Michigan how valuable Smith has been to
them this season.

Quinerly played 32 games this season and had 96 assists not 100. He only averaged 3.2 assists per game and had 69 turnovers which is not the greatest numbers. I myself think it was best we didn't take him. He may be the next Rip Van Winkle.

We need to land real talent. Quinerly is a player who has it. We have players who can’t shoot 3’s and can’t shoot fouls. Two basic skills. If Quinerly came to Rutgers, the roster would look different, and play a different style.
