Coach’s call, of course, but there is no doubt Quinerly is thriving at Alabama and his team plays at a high level. Good player, terrific (Top-10) team.

He inquired about a transfer to Rutgers and we told him he had to sit a year. Same C with Luther Mohammed . They both went where they could be eligible immediately. Luther had been injured and did sit a year with Bobby Hurley.

Quinerly sat out the 2019-2020 season because he didn't get a waiver.

Did Alabama coach Nate Oats succeed Bobby Hurley at Buffalo? That’s probably the Hudson Catholic/Jersey City link for Oats/Quinerly. Though Alabama assistant Bryan Hodgson, a Jamestown NY native, is a heck of a recruiter.

The fact pikiell basically told him no thanks is still mind blowing to me. Same with luther. This isnt speculation on my part these are cold hard facts

As a fan, you’d like to think that the staff does all it can to land the most talented and skilled basketball players it can land, then it’s on the coaches to find a way to make things work on the court and in the locker room. It doesn’t work that way — it’s not that simple, as we are learning.

Javon Quinerly doing well at Alabama. He took a lot of hits on this board. Am I misreading his individual stats? Could he really be shooting 3’s at 47-106 (44.3%)?

I saw an interesting article about Oats at Alabama. He runs a "key or three" offense. Quinerly went there as a mid-range jump shooter. Oats cured him of that habit by showing him the math. Now he's making threes at a high rate.

Quinerly is quite a talent. What a shame he’s not playing at Rutgers and Villanova. Whatever the Alabama staff is doing, works for the team and Quinerly.

We couldve had him too after he left nova. His first call was RU. Huge miss by pike

There was a lot of talk at the time over JQ's character, maturity, and work ethic. The "win at all costs" crowd was all over him, but most people on the board seemed to feel he would be a team chemistry problem.

Do we know why assuming Pike said no thanks? That would be of interest to me before I get out the pitch fork.

Stop. this is silly. Your telling me Pikiell took Yaboah, Getty, Jacob, Carter, Kiss, and souf as transfers but refused New Jersey product Quinery after we heavily recruited him in high school AND we were Quinery's first call?

22 year old RS Sophomore.....quickness, 1 on 1 talent, as seen tonight losing to UCLA, way too much 1 on 1 and didn't distribute the ball and get his better shooters, more opportunities.

If I am Quinerly, I declare for the NBA draft and move on with his basketball career, while he has some G League or draft potential. Definitely a kid that has a game that is really not suited for college basketball.

A backcourt of Quinerly, Young, Baker among others makes absolutely zero sense from a balance perspective and team perspective.....we could barely get Young to pass the ball and you're asking for another ballhog like Quinerly?? Harper, Myles or others would've never seen the basketball.....

Having overlapping talent at the same position isn't going to win games against better competition. Losing to UCLA should seal this conversation up on Quinerly. Very solid season off their bench, not the 2nd half or OT type of lead guard play and distribution, that wins basketball games against well coached teams.

Just to confirm, Pike said he’d take him but told him he wouldn’t get time until his second season at RU? Sounds to me like Pike said yes but was honest with him about the roster situation. He wanted to play the kids that spent years developing in the program and earned the time ahead of a talented transfer. He didn’t flat out say no. Same with Luther Muhammad. Some are trying to lead us to believe Pike refused to give either player an opportunity at Rutgers. It sounds like he’s loyal to his recruits and doesn’t BS anybody about their role if they came to play at RU.

Get talented players first and foremost. Coach ‘em up. Having too much talent is a problem a coach and staff have to love. There are lots of ways to play the game and win. Usually it starts with having talented players. We can’t shoot 3’s and we stink at the charity stripe. Hard to sustain success with those albatrosses. Not adding Quinerly to the roster is a blunder.

Young lead the team in assists/100...

Quinerly lead Alabama in assists/100...

This is a horrible post. Quinerly took Bama to victory down the stretch last week and overall he’s an offensive beast

He took 22 shots......22 is a LOT of shots from your point guard.....it's not like Alabama doesn't have shooting, they have players everywhere

Reese, the shooter who drained the 3 to tie the game at the buzzer, only got 2 shots for the entire game.

The next closest person with shot attempts, is the Co-SEC player of the year, Petty Jr....he took 15 shots.....

For all of his 1 on 1, he only had 3 assists.....

It all depends on what you expect from your point guard....that's not winning basketball and they lost to what many believe is a good opponent, but UCLA really isn't on a level with Alabama. Comes down to PG play....one team had one and got others involved and won, the other PG, didn't and lost......

Individual 1 on 1 talent....?? Absolutely

Good for the rest of your teammates.......???Eh.....Nah....nada.....

I think he took 3 underhanded layups that were blocked away before he figured out not to do it. Did not distribute the ball late in the game but he’s a very talented player and quick as hell with the ball.

Watching UCLA and USC tonight and wondering which one of them Myles will wind up on next year. I’m not buying into to the Stanford story yet. My bet is UCLA.

Smh. Having inside info on JQ I can tell you that he got caught smoking weed at nova and was late to class a few times. Lol, some of us act like we never went to college

1) he didnt put any reasonable effort into JQ
2) he told lou that hed take him only if he agreed to sit a year. It just shows how soft our guys were that pike was afraid to upset them by upgrading the roster. When u tell a kid “sit out”, it basically is telling them go scratch

He was never coming to Rutgers no matter what. Quinerly comes with a lot of baggage called family. His mom is the worst. She thinks anything (Hackensack High & Rutgers) is beneath her son's ability and potential. What's the saying, anywhere but Rutgers.
