Think Mag has some upside, can be a stopper on D and maybe a nice wing/6th man as an upside.

I know we didn't see much, but wow, hard to think that the DR and OP can be impact players. Hope I'm wrong. Just didn't see any flashes of B1G level athleticism and/or skill.

Whomever of Reiber, Mag or Palmquist figures out that playing defense in Years 1 and 2 is how you stay in the rotation and on the court, will play.....as much as Eugene was limited to non-existent on offense his freshman year, it doesn't take skill to take a charge, move your feet to stay attached to your man and battle on the glass.

None of these 3 players are going to be a 1st, 2nd or 3rd options to score on a B1G level winning team, but if they can hurt an opponent as the 4th or 5th scoring option, you have a chance to carve out minutes. The longer you stay on the court, the more the ball eventually lands with you and then you have a chance to convert on offense.

It's the same way teams defend Mulcahy on this current roster....it's been RHJ, Geo, JY/Caleb and then either Myles or Mulcahy/Mathis as the open corner 3 guy.....

I think Reiber has the best chance to stick around as a backup 4 or 5 that becomes a good glue guy. Mag and Palmquist to me have less time to make hay, because there are more options at those positions to go to.

I think Mag is our next Montez. Stopper on D. Aggressive on O.

One thing that surprised me was Palmquist willingness to step in and take charges. Shows defensive willingness at least. Another year and hopefully soft early schedule get his 3 ball going. Nice looking shot... just a confidence issue

Too early to tell, but see potential in all. I predict/hope one of these guys (Oskar, Mag, Dean) will emerge about 1/2 way through next season for significant minutes.

The most disappointing thing about this season was the lack of development of Mag, Oskar, and Dean. Mag, and maybe Oskar, should have been regular parts of the rotation considering what seemed to be their skill level coming in. I think this lack of their use by Coach hamstringed his substitution options. I don't know the reason for their lack of use, but don't buy the lack of out of conference games as a cause since Coach could see how they did in practice. Maybe he wanted a shorter bench, or maybe there were other reasons. I have hope that Mag and Oskar can become regular parts of the rotation, and, if Dean works hard in the off-season, perhaps he can earn minutes too.

Yeah his stroke looks very nice. Something about lefties they tend to look very smooth when shooting or swinging a bat. Our best Offensive player had a huge shooting slump so how can we judge Palmquist in his shooting LOL.

Agree with those saying they will earn their minutes by doing the little things. Defense and rebounding help will be needed.

I think Reiber has the potential to be a good player for us. The thing that impressed me the most in his limited minutes was his presence on the court. Didn’t seem intimidated at all. He looks like an athletic big who can shoot based on his film.
Mag looks good. Physical defensive minded player.
Palmquist, not so sure about.
But I agree that with such limited minutes played by each, it’s hard to judge or predict their development.

You just nailed my thought process (about Reiber) which I did t quite get out earlier. Well said!

Very early and would love to see more from both Mag and Reiber.

I can see both as back end rotation guys.

Not sure on Palmquist but less confident he will crack the rotation.

Cause us lefties are smooth like that. 😎

Maybe Palmquist and Reiber can lobby for Pike to play some zone defense. They are Achilles impaired it looks like and they need to develop better footspeed because...BigTen. Reiber has a polished game for a young guy and Palmquist looks like he might become a consistent shooter.
Mag looked impressive and looks like he could be a 7 ppg-close to 5 rebs guy with good defense next year if he gets minutes.

Reiber has some decent basketball instincts from what I saw, he just needs to get stronger. When the ball came to him I felt like he generally knew what to do and played within the system. I thought Palmquist on the other hand would get the ball and decide it was his turn to shoot even if it wasn't in rhythm.
I actually agree with this. Reiber seemed to know what to do.

if any of them prove they can shoot at a high clip, I will love them.

Palmquist just based on my eyes, not results, seems like the best bet. He just looks like a shooter with his stroke. Maybe next year we see that.

Mags, I like his athleticism and defense as most have said. Also looks like he may be able to shoot well enough.

Reiber, I just have a hard time seeing it. What’s his specialty going to be. Hope his is the next EO just hard to see...like EO as a freshman.

Are many here underestimating their potential contributions the next 3-4 seasons? These guys weren’t superstars coming in, we all knew that they were going to need a year or two to develop, but they really didn’t get that this season. Thoughts?
I think both can develop. Rieber is going to surprise. He has tools.
