Thought they played their game last night. Cuse has no toughness. Rutgers played for 38 minutes with more toughness than Houston. Steve had a great game plan on defense. Houston can beat anyone left but for the Zags, who I continue to say are the only elite team in the tourney. Houston would force Baylor,if they play into some ugly guard play. I'm rooting for them to meet the Zags.Would engender continual mentions of Rutgers. All good for Rutgers.

The mention of Rutgers blowing a 9 point lead isn't the kind of recognition that Rutgers needs.

Mention of Rutgers as the only team that tested Houston would be quite positive.

Basketball is a game of runs. Teams lose nine point leads all the time. It doesn't take long. Some posters imply that Sunday's game was some sort of epic collapse. It wasn't.

Congrats to the Cougars!

I know us Rutgers fans are still swallowing the bitter pill from last Sunday. However, when it comes to the NCAA tournament, disappointment/heartbreak is the way every team but one exits the Big Dance.

For those of you who don't remember, Houston suffered a devastating heartbreaker in 2018, its first year in the tournament in a while.

Vastly over-rated team. Houston even got an easier draw than we did. 2 seed that should have been about a 6.

Disagree. Houston was 23-3 with a NET ranking of No. 5 on Selection Sunday. The Cougars were seeded exactly where they should have been.

Also, I don't know how you can call them overrated. They are in the Elite Eight... and may advance further.

Houston is very good keeping teams under 60 and loves playing slug it out games that are ugly. As someone stated teams give up 9 point leads all the time. We played Houston tough and our length gave them some fits. Yes we lost the lead over the last few minutes but some of our posters give RU no credit for going head to head with Houston who has shown they are definitely one of the best teams in the nation. Give it a rest already. Some of our fans just look at the negative and love criticizing our players and coaches.

It's not too difficult to understand why Houston was a 2 seed, when you look at how so many other 2, 3, 4 and 5 seeds are no longer in the tournament.

Sometimes you get a couple of breaks and Houston drawing Cuse, was definitely one of them. I still can't figure out how Cuse beat West Virginia, but it is the tournament and there's no guarantee that you will play well....some days, it's not your day.

A six-seed for the No. 8 team in the country?

Of course Rutgers got a tougher draw than Houston. Rutgers was a 10-seed

Oh what could have been. Watching that game last night, just reinforced how heartbreaking that loss was against Houston. We win that game as we should have and right now all of us would be celebrating getting into the Elite Eight. It was right there for us. Right there!

Why are you assuming we would have beaten Syracuse?

68 begin it, one ends it. It was, or will be, "right there" for many of those 67. Not just us.

One of those "right there" teams was Clemson. It works both ways.

I don’t think anyone is saying we would have won the championship, but to say we couldn’t have had a real shot at the final 4 with the draw is silly. Had we made it there and got whipped by Baylor nobody is upset

Why? Because I watched the entire game last night and believe we would have beaten them. We beat them once before. No reason to think we couldn't do it again. Think Indiana. Do I need to prove that to you or anyone? And yes, I fully understand other teams could feel that way. I was making a comment and more concerned about MY TEAM. Is that all right with you?

I would have had an easier time accepting the losing of the lead if we did not have two unforced guard turnovers and the blown dunk
If we had just missed shots in the end, playing normally but not getting anything to fall, that would be easier to accept
Now it feels like we just crumbed under the pressure and did it to ourselves

I wasn’t able to watch our game against Houston live. I read the posts on this board after the game and was left with the distinct impression that we choked and gave the game away. Then someone posted a video of the last 5 minutes and I watched it for the first time. Houston was clutch down the stretch. They hit critical shots, hustled to rebound and played great D. That last turnover by Geo was a hustle play by the Cougars. They earned the win, it didn’t fall into their laps. A very tough and athletic team.

Great points. IMO, we still should have won. Myles missed two easy dunks and that became an 6 point swing right there, and Caleb tried to be a hero and instead of driving to the basket, tried hitting a three, which he's not very good at.

The clutching of pearls by some here I find quite amusing.

Kinda OT but watching Bama-UCLA game and an ALA player going for a slam and got clocked in the head, foul called on UCLA defender. Reminded me of when Young took a shot to the head on a drive and there was another RU player that got hit in the face by Houston but no fouls called.

that’s my point after watching them several times, there is no way that’s a Top 10 team, regardless of the rankings. They would have finished around .500 in also over-rated B1G.
Well, that would just make Rutgers lock to them even worse than it is if they're overrated.

Oregon State has no one crash the offensive boards, 4 guys back, and they got beat on a fast break. they look drugged.

Only caveat with Syracuse is that Buddy B wasn't available
when we played them

It is exactly this - it does feel that much worse, because they really don't seem like they're that great of a team. If they were a clearly better team and we just couldn't manage to beat them, I'd take the loss less hard.... but we outplayed them for most of the game, then let a handful of blunders open the door for them to steal the game back.

With every game they play, it's clear that it was no disgrace
to lose to Houston. EVERY ONE of their players can defend.

It was one dunk and it wasn’t easy. The lob was up high. His momentum carried him too close to the basket and he back rimmed it. The other one was Cliff trying to put back a rebound with a dunk but he never had control. Also not easy. We had very few easy. I let’s against Houston. This team plays great Defense and our great defense along with some pretty good 3 Pt shooting kept us in that game.

While I think we would have carried that into wins against Cuse and Oregon St there is no way we can guarantee those as wins. Again, our D would keep us close and I do think our Offense was pretty efficient the last handful of games. But we cannot say it definitively. That’s why you play the games.
