I have no problem with it at all. Once vaccines are available to all, if someone decides not to get it, that becomes their problem. No one should be forced to get a vaccine. That is their right. But at the same time, the rest of the world is going to move on, and if the knowingly unvaccinated person gets left out in the process, too bad.

Good. They also require students to have an MMR vaccine at Rutgers. And NJ public schools have vaccine requirements as well. This isn't any different and is a no-brainer....except for the ignoramuses out there who continue to think it's a joke.

Are flu shots a mandatory requirement as well? Because COVID is less deadly to these kids than flu and asymptotic spread isn't a real thing.

What happened to my body my choice? I guess killing the unborn is ok, but avoiding a harmless flu is not?

so mandating a non fda approved vaccine to go inside someones body, which by the way does not even give you immunization and remember influenza is a bigger threat to this 18-22 year old age group

I would suspect meningococcal vaccine is required too (although admittedly Im not sure )

yes totally bizarre when those are the actually people at risk and students are not

also what if a student already had covid and has determined they do not need a vaccine
Haha, the COO says the staff is "pretty responsible" as a reason the vaccine isn't mandatory for staff. I'm sure that's the real reason.

If it's mandatory for the students, make it mandatory for staff then. Get everyone's butt on campus for the fall.

assuming they are afraid of the legal challenges from staff and employees and feel they can fight off student lawsuits

Antivaxxers: Stay home, learn via Zoom. Don't endanger public health.
It's crazy. They are so concerned about their 'rights' and being told what to do, even when it is good for them. But at the same time, they take issue when a business wants to exercise its rights to exclude them in the interests of public safety. Again, you don't want to get the vaccine, fine. But STFU about how that decision then limits you going forward.

So what ? A private organization has this right . Much different than a public school
Plenty of companies will request the same. When the vaccine becomes more available I can see airlines requesting the same.

it’s the person choice whether they want to go to college, to work or to fly. They may feel it’s in the public interest to get the vaccine and they doing their part to get people to take the vaccine, of course voluntarily.

I agree with a lot of what you post on these board, but man oh man, your last two sentences are a horrific straw man.

I'm not anti vax. Old and fat people should get it. Young and healthy people have no reason to get it. Go look at the numbers. Flu is more deadly than COVID for college students.

I personally know a relatively young and healthy person who is in a world of **** due to covid. And I am aware of many young people who had severe covid and were hospitalized. Students have a choice to not get vaxed and learn remotely.
