I don’t think we’re bashing Geo. He’s super important to the team and deserves kudos for coming, but let’s not pretend he had a bunch of better options. He got the ball rolling, is a leader, and an ok player. His legacy is sound though. He got us to the tourney. Not a ton of players at RU who can say that. I’d like to think all of our fans appreciate Geo.

2x All Big Ten Honorable Mention, 3rd team All Big Ten his junior year. Coaches who game plan against us seem to think he’s pretty good.

Geo gave us one of the greatest RU sports moments of the last 10 years when he hit that shot vs Nebraska. That was enthralling.

He also exploded onto the scene in the big ten tournament at the garden and was a force, really getting that massive ball rolling for us.

agree 100% some of these newbies weren’t lurking on the boards in 2005 (and way before) and it shows haha
I go back a long ways and I got no problem with new fans . I realize this is the best team this school has had in a lifetime and may go down as the best in last 40 years .
It’s good for the fanbase to have new fans with expectations, other than the garbage teams , players and coaches we have seen over the years .Maybe if fans and administration had that attitude we wouldn’t have had to deal with the garbage of bannon , waters, hill, rice and Jordan . We should expect and deserve more. Now let’s see that bracket and win a game . No excuses . This is a great time to be a fan

his legacy is changing the culture at RU and having a special place in the history books and hearts of RU fans.

His legacy as a player itself stats wise and career wise will be overshadowed by the above. Its not about his stats.
This. I am not the biggest Geo the ball player fan. But I will never deny what a great kid and face of the program he has been (99%of the time lol) or his impact on changing things around here.
I wish him the best and hope he can finish with some magic. It would be good for him and the team and the fans.

Some of you are just brutal. Geo selected us when we were horrendous and took a huge chance. He has made some outstanding shots and has been a real leader. He shocked the world in 2018 at the BIG 10 Tournament at Madison Square garden. I loved GORU2014's quote when he said "Why can't we have the current team with the pre-bandwagon fans?" KnightEd was really off base. Some of our fans just don't realize how much Geo has meant to our team. No one ever said he was an All American but he definitely has been the pioneer for our rise to respect over the last 4 years.

I am very grateful for Geo's time here at RU. He was the first player to buy into Pike's vision and he's been a leader of the two best RU seasons since ... The 1970s (last time we were ranked in top 25).

Doesn't anybody else feel like last year Ayo and Geo were on a similar plane? Both could take over and lead their team to victory... This year Ayo took a step up and Geo regressed imo.

Am I wrong?

Given the lack of senior knight this year I really hope they schedule individual appreciation games for the seniors not returning...

Are these all of Geo’s offers?

If so not sure what it proves other than the fact that he had a number of programs that could have actually probably been better destinations than Rutgers at the time.

Some people quickly forget that we were arguably one of the worst D1 basketball programs in all of college basketball 6 years ago. Just because Rutgers was in the biggest conference doesn’t necessarily mean it was his best offer.

@RUsojo.....

While you're digging the hole to the size of the Grand Canyon on this and are in the Jacob Young Fanboy club, explain which player in the B1G is your ideal combo guard....??

It is very easy to poke holes at a 3-4 year starter.....are there other players or guards around the B1G that you would think RU should have landed, post Eddie Jordan and 2800 at the RAC on weeknights for conference games.....??

It is not so much the constant bashing, it's just wildly out of context. I can't keep track of how many bad takes you had in 1 week alone, but the doozy of all a couple of days ago, was trying to state he was 9th in the team for FG%......which clearly shows little smarts on basketball since guards should shoot a lower percentage.....they take the more difficult or deeper shots against the teams better defenders.

As I have said on multiple times.....it is just much easier to just say you don't like the player.....or you don't like his stance on Player rights or likeness....or you just don't respect an underrated kid developing his game and that you only value kids ranked in the Top 150 nationally.....those are more somewhat rational or at least something that goes towards something you actually may believe in.

I just never quite understood how any fan, spends the majority of their time trying to justify or minimize another person's accomplishments....it's so small time in so many ways.....

Not similar plane skills-wise but similar in terms of importance to their team. Geo definitely affected by injury this year, plus team lost out of gimme OOC games to develop other players & pad stats. Possibly Caleb potentially RS-ing affected the rotation as well. Considering he wasn't a PG when he came here, he's done pretty well being the lead guard for a majority of the last few years.

In the end, he is Pike's Tate George. Someone who led us through tough times & to the Promised Land. Maybe not Sweet 16 or Elite 8, but at least into the Big Dance. Small steps. If not for COVID, this would've been Geo's 2nd Big Dance. Imagine the pressure after being denied last year. I really wish he'd return to enjoy another year, one without so much heaped on his shoulders.

I think Geo is one of the best we have had in the past 30 years, but I wouldn't compare him to Leonard, who turned down major offers to come here, was 1st team all conference 2x before willingly taking a reduced role when Rice arrived because it was better for the team, then left as the all-time scoring leader. He is on the Mount Rushmore of Rutgers football players.

Baker was the captain of the team that broke the streak, had some highlight moments for sure, and will finish in the top 10 of multiple categories for us. That's still really good.

Not bashing Geo. Havent attacked him once. Haven’t said anything wrong. Just talking about his play. His actual play. Incredible this gets more pushback than people who complain about his social media.

It’s amazing how someone can discuss his play and you pivot to “who else should we have gotten”.

Oh “Well he takes the toughest shots based on position” (not true).

I don’t understand how a fan gets so upset when people discuss basketball.

Smoking the same thing as Andy Katz who had Geo on his top ten returning players list on the country 😁. And those folks who selected geo to the preseason all Big 10 team. He said similar plane not the same as.

Arod had better stats than Jeter. But almost all Yankee fans love Jeter over Arod.

sometimes it’s not all about stats.

Geo was a huge cheerleader. He recruited players here. He changed the culture. That is super hard. We should know that.
Arod cheated. End of story.

In the past couple of weeks he went 0-6 from 3 against Nebraska, 1-6 versus Indiana, 1 for 5 against Illinois, and had the embarrassing last two and a half minutes versus Minnesota in regulation when he was 0-3 from the field with a turnover and foul and handed them overtime where he then scored zero points in the Rutgers tournament clinching win. Yet somehow people on this board see him as the single most clutch player in history. Why don't these performances count in your view of Geo as a player?
Seriously he was given one of the most clutch moments in Rutgers history to make. An ISO to lock up an NCAA birth for Rutgers. Even though he had hit zero shots from the field in the second half. He bricked it. But hey, I get it, when the pressure is one, IT'S GEO TIME!!!!
Wow, you really hate our team. Are we even in that position if he and Ron don’t explode vs. IU at home? Big picture. The team has different people step up when needed.

Corey Sanders was the star but let’s not forget that Geo was also big part of that 2018 Big Ten Tournament that really was the start of the rebirth of this program. Stepped in immediately and contributed and looked comfortable from day one as a freshman.
Yes. It was the first signal to the league that things were different at Rutgers.

Love the team. just have always seen Geo as the mediocre player he is. I actually feel bad for his teammates. Geo gets most of the press and almost all of the credit while not being close to the best player on the team. It's not really fair to them.
Young, Johnson, and Harper are more responsible for getting this team where it is at. All have improved since they have gotten here, Geo shows up with the same game every year. Still gets the credit though. Hey remember, he could have chosen to go to Vermont, but he believed. All credit to GEO!!!

I'm not a Geo fan by any means and never was he is a 2 star that overachieved his talent level. Takes alot of bad shots. Makes alot of bad passes and not a good defender.....but he was a great pickup for Pike to help move the needle in the right direction.

Ok my opinion I probably have more basketball knowledge in my pinky than you do in your whole body so thank you for your unintelligent not well thought out response. He was the right player for RU and RU was the right college for him at the right time.. RU needs to recruit better to reach the next level....sorry my man just the truth and the facts. I'm not into participation trophies
