Ok my opinion I probably have more basketball knowledge in my pinky than you do in your whole body so thank you for your unintelligent not well thought out response. He was the right player for RU and RU was the right college for him at the right time.. RU needs to recruit better to reach the next level....sorry my man just the truth and the facts. I'm not into participation trophies
Like I said....every player who puts that uniform....I am a fan of

Really disappointed in some of our “fans”. They keep trying to suck the joy out of this thing but ef them! They are likely failures in their own lives who transfer their anger here.

Nothing. You and a few others have this weird thing about pitting players and fans against one another.

Yes, I am a sports fan who says some players are better than others on a message board. Very astute observation on your part.

I get it. I do not dislike him at all he was a big find for Pike in the most important position to stabilize team and move it forward. Hes had a really solid 4 yrs it's worked out well for both parties and he has done his job to put team in position to reach the next level. He"s tapped his potential pretty well.

JY 5-7 leading scorer what an effort what a beast will go down as the guy that changed the program!

I think the last bad 30 seconds the other night will be mostly forgotten about when it comes to his legacy. It was a team wide choke job. Geo helped change this program. He also had the game winner in round 1 .
His legacy is safe as a winner with rutgers standards. Time will heal this wound.

@RUsojo.....

While you're digging the hole to the size of the Grand Canyon on this and are in the Jacob Young Fanboy club, explain which player in the B1G is your ideal combo guard....??

It is very easy to poke holes at a 3-4 year starter.....are there other players or guards around the B1G that you would think RU should have landed, post Eddie Jordan and 2800 at the RAC on weeknights for conference games.....??

It is not so much the constant bashing, it's just wildly out of context. I can't keep track of how many bad takes you had in 1 week alone, but the doozy of all a couple of days ago, was trying to state he was 9th in the team for FG%......which clearly shows little smarts on basketball since guards should shoot a lower percentage.....they take the more difficult or deeper shots against the teams better defenders.

As I have said on multiple times.....it is just much easier to just say you don't like the player.....or you don't like his stance on Player rights or likeness....or you just don't respect an underrated kid developing his game and that you only value kids ranked in the Top 150 nationally.....those are more somewhat rational or at least something that goes towards something you actually may believe in.

I just never quite understood how any fan, spends the majority of their time trying to justify or minimize another person's accomplishments....it's so small time in so many ways.....
Perfectly stated. @RUsojo should find a new team

Whole lot of nothing stated in that post. What’s laughable is trying to drag someone for giving props to the best player on the team before anyone else was ready to commit lol

I'm not a Geo fan by any means and never was he is a 2 star that overachieved his talent level. Takes alot of bad shots. Makes alot of bad passes and not a good defender.....but he was a great pickup for Pike to help move the needle in the right direction.

For someone who makes such a bold claim about basketball knowledge - your analysis of Geo was pretty pedestrian. I'm certainly no Bball genius and I can do better.....

  • Geo was recruited in the 400's and performed well above both his star and overall ranking - he jumped in an produced right away as a freshman as an off guard paired with Sanders. Shooting a respectable .360 from the arc as a frosh.
  • His Sophmore year he was converted to a lead guard and played significant minutes out of team need when Sanders chose not to return - this appeared to hurt his efficiency and may have in fact hurt his overall career as he pretty much stayed in this role throughout the rest of his career - but was at his best when paired next to a real PG.
  • While not particularly quick - he has a deceptive change of pace with the ball in his hands and enough athleticism to get to the rim
  • He has worked to improve to become an adequate but not spectacular man-on defender on the perimeter. He appears to be not as good as a team defender - getting lost in space at times.
  • He moves to his right pretty well and can get to the rim against most man-on defenders.
  • He is currently the best player on the team at creating his own shot off the dribble - JY and RHJ are both better at getting to the rim, but both appear to be more comfortable in catch and shoot situations
  • He has a propensity to take/make bad shots from mid-range - his 2pt shooting percentage has increased over time to almost 51%
  • His 3 point shooting has diminished this year to an unacceptable .309.
  • He's been one of the better / most consistent FT shooters on the team over the course of his career
  • He's hit some clutch/game winning memorable end of game shots in his career

Fact is if you asked Rutgers fans where Geo played prior to here... where he is from in the USA ... or how many big offers he held most could not do that. If he’s back ...great... if not best of luck in whatever life brings you.Rutgers now needs more players who today are better than Baker.

Simple. THANK YOU.

ambassador. Culture changer. Recruiter. If he’s not here, Paul isn’t here. Likely others too.

They should pay him AND retire his jersey. The worst of our fans‘ heads would explode. Addition by subtraction as they say.
Are you serious about retiring his jersey?

he has been a clutch performer here. No doubt, but in the league he has played in.....he is below average at his position.

He will be remembered extremely well. Similar to the reason Geoff Billet is remembered more fondly than Rob Hodgson (no slight to Rob) and IMO would've been remembered more fondly than his brother had Todd stayed. If you have an okay team, you're going to find yourself in a lot of close games. And Geo vs having a guy who can't hit the game winner or come up with the big stop (remember Miami his soph year) is worth so much more than his stat line would suggest. Simply scoring the last 5 to bring home RU's first NCAA tournament win in 38 years will be one of his defining moments, even if he didn't have to do anything superhuman.

I agree that geo was the right guy at the right time at the right school. He will not be remember for being a great player, lock down defender or great shooter. Instead he will be remember for being a great individual that worked hard, got better as the program got better and being the leader on the team that got Rutgers back to the tournament.
