We are in the tournament based on our 2020 performance. ( November/December of 2020 since so many inexplicably thought I meant our 2019/,2020 team) .if you looked at the 2021 edition, there is no way we are in the tournament... Last year's (2019,/2020) team never got outworked or out hustled, this year's team lacks energy and chemistry, mopes around after bad calls and is a horrible shooting team. I don't think the seed matters, I have a tough time seeing us winning a game unless we are somehow playing Indiana...

What is out best win THIS year ( since 1/1/21) I can pick a few games as our worst loss..

Sorry if I seem like THAT guy, but this team is really hard to root for

We deserve to be in the Tournament at exactly where we will be...9/10 line. The overall resume is solid, not spectacular...which is why we'll be on the 9/10 line.

Our November/December resume is excellent. Illinois and Purdue wins. @Maryland. Syracuse.

Our January-March resume is honestly not very good. Only one win against a tourney team...MSU. Loaded up on wins vs the bottom 1/3 of the conference. A few blowout losses.

But again, not to repeat myself...it's why we will be a 9/10 seed and not a top 5 seed like it looked like we'd be until the 5 game skid.

I wouldn't argue with a 10 seed at all, based on resume. 2021 has not been pretty on the whole. But to say the overall resume is not Tourney worthy is wrong.

I wouldn’t say we are not a good team. I would say that we are not as good as last year. I would Not be surprised if we don’t win a game in the NCAA tournament. Last years team had a real good chance of making the sweet 16. We still deserve to be in the tournament this year as a #8-12 seed.

Such a terrible take. You don't make the tournament based on last year results. We beat Illinois, Purdue, Syracuse, Maryland, MSU, Indiana 3X, Minny 2X. We were a 7 seed in the best conference in the country (and maybe best all time). Last year we were an 8 seed. We're a good team. Not great but good.

But tournament teams aren't selected based off quality of performance, they are selected based off resume. I don't think it's fair to say we are not a good team, we won 15 games in the one of the best conferences in recent years. Some very frustrating and embarrassing losses? Yes. Some good and exciting wins? Yes.
Let's just enjoy selection Sunday, first time in 30 years we will have a meaningful selection Sunday.

absolutely

only because the system is broken. Last year's team had oodles of quality wins and a brutally tough road schedule. This year was way more manageable and yet only 2 real quality wins. But this is an NCAA resume. A true bubble team, probably a first four out type since the calendar turned to 2021. But that's not a whole season.

I never said we dont belong in the tournament based on our body of work - I am simply saying that SINCE the Ohio St game, this is not a NCAA team - we are in the tournament based on our very good start -....This team is really hard to root for, we have wasted our talent - some day we will find out what went wrong, but last years team with less talent would easily beat this years team 6/7 out of 10 times

So if we were undefeated and lost the last 3 games of the year, would we not be deserving because they were the last 3? The beginning of the season counts too.

I think in the morning when you wake up read this again and you may not agree with yourself.

We are a good team and deserving of an NCAA bid. What we are NOT is a top 20 caliber team. We just lost badly to a top 3 or 4 team in the country on the road. A team we did beat earlier in the year. Relax and enjoy next Sunday and at least the first round.

People need to realize there are other teams outside of this conference. Our frame of reference is possibly the deepest and maybe best conference ever. I think you’d be surprised at how well we, much less our resume, stacks up with the rest of the country.

Yes, but what if you restrict it to JUST December 20, 2020. Then we're a 1 seed.

yeah, we lost today
but I liked the fight they showed, and maybe this helps break RHJ out
get in the tourney, win a game--I'll take it.

I think many have a reading comprehension problem - not sure where anyone is getting the take that I said we dont belong in the tournament - our body of work gets us in. But we have barely looked like a NIT team for the past 2 months, no good wins, some bad losses, not played Steve Pikiell basketball, it has NOTHING to do with tonight. I know for sure, that if we had lost to Minnesota (we were a Jacob Young steal away from losing) and then lost tonight, half the people thinking I am a DB would be agreeing with my take.

Again, my take is that we are not a good team in 2021, and unless something very different happens in the next week versus what has happened in the past 2 months, all the people worrying about whether or not we are a 8/9 seed or a 10 seed are just kidding themselves

Please stop.... if you think this team is hard too root for don’t root for them, they don’t need “fans” like you. Last years team was not less talented, we are missing a major cog from last years team. We are going to the dance for the first time in 30 years. We lost to one of the favorites to win the National Championship.

We're 8-7 over the past two months, all against B1G teams, with losses coming to Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, and Wisconsin. Those are good to excellent teams. Nebraska was the only bad loss. That isn't NIT? C'mon man.

Most level headed post in a long time. I’ve been a fan since 1989 and you should never take making the NCAAs for granted. We made it and deserve to be in it. Teams have these kind of nights. It just means you played one of the best teams on the nation; which happens frequently in the big 10.

There are two NBA draft picks on that Illinois team. It’s pretty hard to get drafted and they have 2.

what part of THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TONIGHT are you not getting. This has to do with being blown out by Nebraska, needing an epic comeback against Indiana, coming very close to blowing the game against Minnesota (JY saved the season), and no good wins in 2021. We are limping into the tournament with no offensive sets , bad shooting, and more importantly, we are not rebounding or playing good defense which was the staple of last years team. The frustrating part and the reason I am so down is that we HAD the talent to be so much better, if one person can honestly tell me that the 2021 version of this team is exceeding expectations, I am happy to buy you a steak dinner at a restaurant of your choice
