Politics aside nice to have a Governor who strongly supports Rutgers.
We R with U. Not bad gov.

[RU82]

Yeah. I’m not a big fan of his politics but Murphy has undeniably been a solid supporter of RU.

Agreed. We have to be the only state where our Governor's have never vocally supported the state school and in some cases, worked against it. Murphy was instrumental in getting Greg back and had been a huge hoops fan since taking office. Maybe past Governors were worried about how Seton Hall fans would feel, but I am sure states like Indiana, Illinois and Michigan have handled similar issues

Its the State University. Period.

I agree, and I am sure past Governors of Indiana don't outwardly root for private schools like Notre Dame or Purdue over the Hoosiers. But I can't remember any Governor in the last 40 years being so vocal and involved with Rutgers sports unless they were declining or speaking out against out subsidies I guess Christie gets an assist for pissing Greg off so much with his private plane comments that it forced him back to the negotiating table, but I will never forgive him or Corzine for what they did to Tim and Mulcahy

FYI... Purdue is a public land-grant research university.

Well said. I don't care what party the Gov is, that person ought to support the State University both as an entity and in sports, as that is so visible (even if they didn't go to RU, they ought to adopt RU as their "second" school and pay homage). Most of the previous Gov's on both sides have sucked at this. Murphy has been great at it.

Reported! As a really good post, lol...

Murphy went to Harvard for his bachelor's degree and to the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School for his MBA.

Not too shabby . But he really learned to scheme on Wall Street and Trenton.
