I see a lot of open looks that we brick.Do you see many wide open 3s for us, we are being defended quite well imo.

Sometimes we have two and sometimes three guys do it.I think pretty much every three we took today was a decent look (there may have been a couple bad ones, I don't remember every shot) and I also remember at least three possessions where we passed up open looks from three only to put up something forced or turn it over at the end of the shot clock.
It’s this simple. The way the game is played today, you have to be a threat from 3 to have any chance of being a dangerous team. I think 16-20 is the right number; we just have too many guys who can‘t hit the ocean right now.
I think that all of their shots should be 3 pointers... Heck, RU shot 5-22, 22.7% from 3 point range today. If all of the 55 shots they took today had been 3's, and they continued to make 22.7% of them, they would have made 12 to 13 three point shots, which would be a total of 36 to 39 points from the field, plus the points from their foul shots.... Maryland only scored 68 points, so... Oh wait... Never mind. (wink)
This is the bottom line. We had good looks. We are playing scared. Time for boys to become men. Make a fing shot. I could shoot better than we do and I am 60 years old.Do you think there exists an offensive strategy that would allow this team to win consistently with 23% 3 point shooting? I don't. I think you have to accept that you will lose most of the time you shoot that badly against a competent opponent.

As per the end of my post, I was teasing about wanting them to take all 3's... It's hard to pick a number of 3's per game we'd like the team to shoot when we don't know how badly they'll shoot... We shot even worse today than the horrid 27.6% that we averaged for the previous 12 games... I honestly don't know if the 3 point shooting is going to improve like you predicted it will yesterday in the Overmatched thread. This is a bad shooting team right now and I'll be surprised if our 3 point shooting significantly improves in the remaining games. And your suggestion is? Again, to be successful in today’s college game, 3s are necessary. Hard stop.If you can't make them, you're throwing away possessions by shooting them. After a while, it's on the coach for letting them shoot (and miss) them.
Yes. Early in the shot clock. We hesitate and don't take the open ones that take worse shorts later. Again and again.Do you see many wide open 3s for us, we are being defended quite well imo.

Your comment about working the clock and keeping the score low is spot on.Pikiell knows the team lacks shooters and so he feels the only way to win is with games in the 55-65 point range. The problem with that strategy is most B1G teams have better 3 point shooters and they don't wait until the end of the shot clock to shoot. My concern is that the 8 players getting the most minutes are mostly upper class men and they have shown a downward slide in scoring. This is exactly right. Stop hesitating to take the open shot. If it’s there; take the damn shot. Pike is doing a terrible job causing indecisive behavior in these guys because he wants to work the clock so he can play defense and keep the score low. But you can’t always dictate that and if the shot is available then you take it without hesitation. I really think this is a big part of our shooting woes now. It doesn’t allow for any rhythm and causes over thinking. Harper is a mess now - he’s not even close on most of his shots.
I voted 31-35.
I'm voting for the offense Rutgers as a program should ve striving for.
Regardless of current roster and coaching staff.
That is the problem with this poll. What the current team should do if different then what the program philosophy should be.
Same thing happened in Football during the OC Kill/OC McN era.
"We should be playing faster, throwing more."
"That's not our game. That's not what we practice and recruit for."
Ok - well it's more than time to change "our game" after this season (hiring OC Gleeson).
You can only be 13th in conference 3pt shooting for so long.
