Whoooof. Ugly comment. Geo is so far gone and uninformed mentally man. I root for the kid and our players but they have some really toxic views

Honestly not a good look at this point. If you want to be an activist for your cause that’s great . After you graduate if you still don’t like the current system go into politics , education or coaching . Better yet get into administration and change what you don’t feel is fair and is a slave type system” . In today’s college sports he is fortunate to be able to do what other students never will nor have a similar opportunity to express those sentiments in a public forum.

Not just geo, but kids in general in society today throw around terms like slavery and nazi way too liberally. Its sad, truly is. Theyre all looking for a struggle
If you want to take it literally, and purposely miss the valid critiques of his message, then fine. But I bet his teammates respect him for speaking what he believes. Shut up and dribble right?
No one's forcing him to play. If he doesn't want to play he could sit out this season. As far as modern day slavery, again if you think it's that bad, stop playing college basketball and pay for your own school. Or get a job like the rest of us. Irrational comment from just a kid who wants his martyr moment. Plenty of injustice in the world to be upset about, this isn't one of them.
If I recall, slaves didn't have a choice. Its an unpaid internship for the NBA with no guarantee of a job. He has a point on getting paid for apparel with his name on it though. That makes no sense.

Lets be honest, these kids can say anything theyd like to and regardless of how crazy it is their teammates would respect them speaking their mind. They live in echo chambers and the township of instagram

Not every weekend but im much more informed than our players and the youth of society, thats for sure.
theres also nothing wrong with saying geos value to society is nothing more than entertainment right now. Just as my value to society is nothing more than educating people on real estate. Were both entitled to our opinions but our opinions largely mean nothing. For him, it’s shut up and dribble, for me its shut up and teach/sell.

The poster is totally free as we all are to call out Geo’s ridiculous post. Hey buddy we all love Geo but there is also limit on babbling about college sports as “ modern day slavery”. Nice to be an activist but make sure it includes all those students of color who go into debt before spouting off. Geo had a choice 5 years ago and that was to accept a monetary stipend for services worth over 100k . I’m curious and I actually have studied about slavery and the ramifications of it. Did slaves get a salary, were they educated at a prestigious University , and provided with opportunities as most of these current college sports slaves are? NO.... they were not.
Modern day slavery is different than slavery.
I get the arguement that players play for an education and their coaches make $3,000,000.

I am a big fan of Geo’s. He is a leader and intelligent young man.

Exactly. The difference between those 6 years is enormous. Right about my age in particular was the last age to grow up without cell phones being widespread until 8th grade and computers. Also, i never dealt with this social justice warrior **** in college that is so prevalent today.

Since you’re so well versed, you do know modern day slavery means that it’s not the same type of slavery - that it has morphed into a different manner of oppression using new systemic repressions. But instead you’re choosing to fixate on the one word so you can take some moral/intellectual higher ground. How about the essence of his argument? Is an employee not entitled to any rights of their likeness?

Geo is 5 years into a supposed education which will enable him to succeed in this world .he’s over age 12-13 which I believe is still looked upon as the age of reasoning right vs wrong is established. Slavery of 300 years ago is not what he nor the others are claiming . There’s a huge difference. Don’t use the higher , ethical excuses in this issue it is neither. He somehow always manages to insert his spin into where he doesn’t have the complete facts . Geo needs to remember sound bites are great but what about those other Rutgers students of color . Are they in slavery on campus too?
The comparison to slavery is dumb and allows people to dismiss everything else he says, which is spot on IMO.
