Cliff is not 100% but so tall and athletic he can gives us great minutes. We were getting killed on the boards lately without him.

Harper played much tougher today than the PSU game and the last game I watched before OSU which was Iowa. He sat a game then came back and was not himself. Geo was not himself. Cliff was out. JY was playing hurt. I didn’t watch 3 games because I could see the rough patch coming. I’m not a hoops genius. I think this is basically Hoops 101 stuff.

I also think Mathis was lights out for a few games and making really tough shots and of course playing great D. I think he and JY started forcing it a little because the Offense was playing so poorly. I think he had a stretch like this last year and sat a lot and then played well down the stretch iirc. He’s a weapon.

I stand by what I said. If you want to go ball to the walls with 100% effort and hustle on every play, it’s impossible to play More than 30 minutes.

Otherwise, there are times where players on taking off plays.

I know why Harper geo and Paul played 37 min today...and for today and who we were playing...and the style of game they play and what we needed to do it was fine

those type of minutes every night? No way...we will be gassed late in the year. you already get games where the rotation gets messed up due to foul trouble.

I want a rotation where I can put Geo, Ron, Myles, Jacob and one of Caleb/Paul/Montez on the court for the last 8 minutes Of the game and they are fresh and can defend and out work a tired opponent in the end game

With 11:54 left we went up 55-41. Indiana finished with 70 and the pace of the game wasn’t overly fast.

if we had guys in the 30 minute area Id like to think they wouldn’t have gotten 70. At the same time we probably aren’t up 55-41

When we have one guy hold the ball at the top of the key and run the clock down to 10, I’m betting our good shot percentage is close to 10%
Yes.. last year is g the whole clock was worse... I don't want to see that again. When pressure D is used and we are forced into half court O.. take 10 seconds on O for a breather.. but take first open shot.. better yet.. run a play to produce an open look.

Pike said Harper was very vocal all game. Teams as a rule need a leader. Hope he can & will be it.

Those rebounds he got, like great blocks in football, or a great defensive gem with the bases loaded, mean just as much as a point scoring contribution on offense

Harper had some enormous rebounds down the stretch...I dont like that take you just posted, I think you know better
What's really hurt Rutgers during the losing streak is not having second reliable rebounder. And that's why I believe Harper's rebounding is as important, if not more so , than his scoring. If Myles is out of position or blocked there needs a second rebounder for Rutgers. Last year it was Akwasi . And this year it's been Harper on occasion. Rutgers lacks a true Power Forward and Harper needs to fill that gap. Perhaps Pikiell should team Ckiff more with Myles , especially when Rutgers faces off against a physically tough team like OSU and Michigan State.

Yes! Another of my favorite types of threads:
Random numbers thrown out with zero reference or actual research.

Hmm....Harper needs to play 35+ minutes/game.
Lets take a look at that.

Harper Minutes/Game:
Overall (13 games): 33.2 (#4 in Big Ten. Marcus Carr leads the league at 35.9)

Big Ten Games (9 games): 33.4

Harper is already 4th in the Big Ten and only 1 player is above 35m.

My first thought was all the football conversations about "Mid-Majors" playing great for 1 P5 game but would be destroyed over a full P5 schedule.

Sure - play Harper 40min a game.
After 2 games, zero chance he is still effective.
