Speaking of Hank's cards, his 1956 Topps card's action photo is not of him but rather one of Willie Mays.

Fifty bucks a month prevented Aaron and Mays from becoming teammates.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but there are 6 total members in the 500/3000 club. The others are Willie Mays, ARod, Eddie Murray, Palmeiro, and Albert Pujols.
Mays, Arod and Pujols are also in the 600/3000 club.

Barry Bonds retired with 762 career home runs when he overtook Henry Aaron's 755. Aaron nearly returned the favor earlier a month ago when MLB decided to honor stats from the Negro Leagues. Aaron played three months in 1952 for the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro Leagues before being offered contracts by the Milwaukee Braves and New York Giants.

But he only accumulated 5 home runs making his final total 760.

Aaron, by the way, didn't like the nickname "Hammerin Hank" or even Hank. He preferred Henry. And he was ready to sign with the Giants but the Braves' $250 offer was $50 more than the Giants. Otherwise, the Giants would have sported an outfield in the 1950s and 1960s of WIllie Mays and Hank Aaron.

This is sad day for America.
His life and career needs to be celebrated.
Very emotional for me at this time..
RIP Henry.
American Icon, hero and gentlemen.
And for today, he’s the greatest athlete of all time
Zap my condolences. Seeing all these interviews today and I'm very happy as most baseball players are equally talking about him as a great, loving man. In time please share your stories but when you can smile again.

I meant after you remove the home runs he still had over 3000 hits.... I will verify tomorrow, if i am wrong I will retract my statement

I believe you are correct Aaron had 3771 hits and hit 755 home runs.
Do the math and he still had 3016 hits. Without the homers Aaron would have more base hits then Wade Boggs had in his career (3010).
Amazing!!

Yes its new. Im a big fan of The Wire. Season 2 gets a lot grief but I really liked it. Frank Sobotka was a great character IMO
Yep the Docks season was under rated. I think the newspaper season was the worst. But of course still better than every season of most other TV.

Oh boy, you went there.
totally valid

wasn't a fan of Aaron, was not a friendly guy and think he disliked whites. Hope he's in heaven however

I think he's very overrated, avg outfielder, never hit over 40hrs in a year, took what 35-38yrs to amass his numbers? He was good, above avg but not the greatest by any stretch

maybe but half the country can't balance a checkbook so we have that.

a legitimate case can be made he was avg to above avg with longevity on his side.

fk u moron, you think you know everything but you don't.
Here is how stupid you are. He was a beloved player not hated. He hit 40 home runs in 8 seasons not zero. 4 time Home Run Champion. Played 21 full seasons not 38. Was a multiple Gold Glove winner. I may not know everything but I do know that everything you posted about him was 1000% wrong.

One of my favorite trivia question is what pair of brothers who both played in the majors have the most combined career home runs;
Hank and Tommy Aaron

Never hit 50 HR is maybe what you were looking for, but he hit 40+ several times.

If he played 35+ seasons and started at 18, you really think he was playing professional baseball into his 50s? Played 23 seasons (aged 20 to 42)

Good/average/above average? You must believe he's not worthy of being a HOFer by characterizing him as such. LOL if so.

Guy is a clown. Everything he posted about him was so stupidly incorrect. Just a racist with hatred.

I didn’t see the point of the post in a thread reminiscing about someone who just passed away

We have plenty of other threads discussing ball players where criticism even if wrong would not seem so inappropriate

The Giants would have had a murderers row of Aaron, Mays, Cepeda, and McCovey.

He’s definitely a HOFer by a lot. Just more of a compiler as opposed to a dominant player. 700+ HRs before the steroids is nothing to sneeze at. Hank is to HRs what Rose is to hits.

He is easily a top 5 or top 10 player of all time.

Once again you prove you’re too emotional to participate in rational conversation.
Huh. Too emotional? Guy posts complete lies about Henry Aaron. Every single comment was false, yet you think that is ok. Nothing rational about his post! Crazy. He has a history of issues on this board including many off color comments. Maybe you should be shaming him not me. But you won't because you are ok with people posting complete ********. Gotcha.

He’s top 5 player in history.
Best pair of wrists the game has ever seen, and never got hurt.
100 runs scored 100 RBI’s, 300 avg.
Write it down before the season started

Interesting, you would put him ahead of one of Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Joe D. or Willie Mays?
