They asked how many NBA players are out on the floor.

They named Dsounmu, Cockburn...and maybe Harper.

I think Young is NBA caliber (he's probably faster than 98% of the players in the NBA now) as well Myles- with an outside possibility for Mathis (Defense) /Baker.

Regarding Myles, if Cockburn is a lock, Myles compares very favorably: 8 Less points, 1 more rebound and 3 blocks to 0 for Cockburn: Draw!

Congratulations to the Scarlet Knights, Pike / Assistants!

Disagree. Only Harper and he's not a lock but with his skyrocketing development I agree now it looks much more likely. Young excellent, speedy player but too small, (see the excellent guard from Maryland last year as comparison) Baker..............love him but definitely not and same with Mathis. That being said, our team is so well coached and our players play so well together even though I don't think we have more than one real NBA player on the team (let's see what happens in a few years with Omuruyi) this team could beat any team in the country including Gonzaga. Rutgers could win the National Championship this year. I'm certainly not predicting it, but with how well they play together and how well coached they are, it is plausible.

Remember Calvin Murphy, Mugsy Bogues (sp.?)...both well under 6'0". Just being tall isn't enough.

Young is lightening in / out of the bottle. And he can shoot, score, distribute (assists), play D (disrupt / steal).

And as I said Myles held his own against Kofi / helped the team to a W with his blocks, D, rebounds + scored close to 10 points.

Harper isn't a lock, but he's moving up slowly. Cockburn is a late second rounder right now and Dosunmu is a late first round right now, could move up.

Harper definite pro. Just a matter of 1st or 2nd round..a 15-20 minutes a game player, to add offensive spark..will have a bunch of clutch game winning baskets, maybe even one in the playoffs (a la Robert Horry).. Young has professional athleticism, and can score against some pretty big players, as we have seen. I think he gets in, if its the right fit somewhere..

Admittedly I see things thru Scarlet colored glasses.

But there's no denying RHJ's stats... and if he can improve his FT's he'll be averaging around 25-30 ppg. Add in tough D defender, about to elevate, playing team ball (assists are up) and imo he's got a shot (NPI).

But assume you're correct. This may play out to Rutgers advantage, since Ron will know what it will take to get drafter and work on those things during the off season...then come back for an encore 2021-22: and get selected in the 1st round!

Same may be true for Myles...Geo, Montez and Caleb's coming back next year.

I LOVE THIS TEAM...and want them to be recognized for their work on and off the court (e.g. Myles is head and shoulders above 99% of students / athletes in trying to get Afro-Americans into the sciences: Mazel Tov Myles!).

Some of you don't realize how good you have to be to make the nba.

Myles Powell was an all American and went undrafted. Young Mathis and Johnson have next to no chance to make it, maybe some summer league looks for young. But that's it

I agree and he's moving up boards, Harper is having very good year. Myles won't ever play in the NBA imo. Very good player, but NBA good? No way. Even Kofi Cockburn is a mid to late second rounder, those big / tall centers aren't the wave anymore, especially in the NBA.

Agree Young might get some summer league looks because of his speed and on top of that his brother had some decent NBA years. Now overseas? He could go make some solid $$ playing ball.

Myles isn’t an NBA player. He’s too slow to defend the perimeter and has no outside shot. Kofi isn’t anything more than a role player in the NBA imo. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Illinois again next year trying for that first round draft grade

really depends how much attention this team gets over the next 2 years, but Young will get much more that a Summer League look. Powell was a big scorer, but erratic and injury prone. Young can fit a specific role. best athlete in Big Ten hoops, how does he not get legit NBA consideration?

agree completely. Some people here are clueless about the quality of talent in the NBA. Harper’s meteoric rise this year gives him a chance. Young is super fast but lacks a jumper and is not what I would call a floor general if you’re going to make it at that size. As for Johnson? Traditional big men are a dinosaur in the NBA.

I love all these guys, but let’s enjoy watching them and not put crazy expectations on them.

Sorry to disagree....but waves come....and they go.

IMO Myles has a future as a scientist, lecturer, inventor and human terror (monster) in the NBA!

Love this kid!

I hear ya LOL but this wave isn’t changing. Centers need to be able shoot from just about anywhere now, look at the top five centers in the league rn, all can shoot and some can even dribble!

This was my point above. Excellent players but you look at the players in the past 3 or 4 years that haven't been drafted from the Big that were better then our players......................well there is your answer.

There’s a huge gap between a player with professional potential and an nba player. I think everyone in our top 7 can play professionally, but the only players with any hope of making the nba are Harper and omoruyi. The fact that some of these guys are 22/23 and still in college essentially means they have no shot.

How is there not room for a defensive, rebounding center with a 7-7 wingspan that snatches the ball like he’s picking cherries
In the NBA, that guy needs to be able to shoot threes. Teams spread the floor and the 5 is part of that. The back to the basket low post center can’t play in the NBA today. Cockburn will get drafted but a guy like that won’t stay around long IMO.

I don't watch the NBA anymore. My son Brandon (37) and I used to watch the Lakers. We were just reminiscing about the time Fisher hit a long distance bomb in the Playoffs with .4 second remaining....and our block literally erupted. Also remembered when Kobe went off for 81.

Brandon was the media coordinator for the Lakers in 2011...and met Jeanne Buss, Phil Jackson (who wasn't the coach) and host of others Lakers and celebs (Adam Levine, Jack~~Nickolson)...but his favorite memory was the iconic Kobe!

When Harper and other Rutgers alum populate the league I'll tune.

Until then it's Rutgers....or it's toast!

Don't think Harper is going anywhere unless he gets an agent and feedback that he'll be drafted.
Otherwise I'm guessing Harper comes back and puts up MONSTROUS #'s...and works on the little things that will lead to his first round selection!

Until Myles can hit 2/3 free throws he's not making the league. You can't shoot 38% from the line in the NBA. Harper and Cliff could get drafted that's it. Others guys might be able to make a g league team and work their way up but no way they get drafted.

In order to make the NBA (don’t see it)

Jacob needs to be a much better shooter
Ron needs to be a better defender
Myles needs an offensive game outside 5 feet

A lot of our success is a large part of not relying on a star. The team with 2 NBA players was taken to the woodshed by Rutgers.

Wow,
When players like Powell and Stevens can’t make an NBA team, it’s time to realize your aspirations for the NBA or probably nill, unless your a consensus lottery type pick from day one.
If we’re even discussing whether a player may or may not make the NBA...apparently odds are he won’t.

NBA only has 2 rounds of the draft. 15 man total roster but only 13 man active roster.
There are not many spots to go around, and a lot of quality players. It's extremely difficult to make a roster.

I had a friend that played in Europe and made somewhere around $10-15M for his career. When he retired in his 30's he moved back to NY and is living a good life. There is nothing wrong with playing overseas.
