Among players with at least 10 attempts, somehow Johnson has the second best hit rate at 63.6%. I mean, that's potentially a positive sign that he's improved from last year, but what happened to everybody else?

We’ll never know the answer, but I wonder if the importance of FTs has ever been explained to our players in the context of their own stats? An extra 2-10 ppg individually is huge in terms of their own performance on the stat sheet. Start with the individual accountability and it grows into a team thing.

We are last in the B1G in free throw percentage. It will hurt us in close games. I want Geo with the ball late to shoot or be fouled. I trust him at the line. Myles played a great game last night but will never be a decent foul shooter. Harper should hit a high percentage with his form and talent. PM has to be a strong ft shooter.

Yes, we have not shot free throws well so far, but it is not as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be. We have won every game by double digits. We will definitely get better from the line. There is no way that we will continue to shoot so poorly from the line.

Playing tough Defense is much more important. If we play tough Defense every game, we will be fine the rest of the way.

Of course it is but we lost 2-3 games last year because of poor foul shooting and you can't have that if you want to be a top team as we are good but not that good to overcome that in close games against good teams

You can when you call it "foul" shooting. Our shooting % is FOUL...and needs to improve.

Call it "free" throws and I agree.

If Myles can be a consistent 65% foul shooter, that'd be great. I would take that in a heartbeat.

But we need our guards to be much better than that, especially those like Harper, Mathis, and Young who get to the line frequently. Harper and Mathis have taken the most FTs so far at 18/each (and are #2/3 in FT/40 min) and are 19/36 (52.7%). That number needs to be north of 70%, and really should be north of 75%.

If Johnson could pull himself up to the .650 range or better, that'd be in line with the better bigs we've recently seen in the conference. Right now he's at .636 for the season, but an amazing .398 for his career.

Hate to start another thread but this is literally what is going to cost us from being a top 10 team; You CANNOT shoot 43% from the foul line especially against our next opponent

After the journey this program has taken for the past 3 decades, if this is the only thing from preventing RU from being a Top 10 team, things are looking up.

Let's see how this teams shoots from the line in clutch situations. If they can step up when it matters it will make up for a poor overall percentage
