All the kids were sent home from college and people are working from home, so the retail demand exploded. Add in the fear that people will run out, and the sudden demand in higher-quality toilet paper becomes clearer. The overall demand will reduce once people go back to work since there is currently an oversupply there. Can someone explain why there is a shortage of toilet paper, given that the commercial demand for the product (offices, malls, restaurants, hotels, etc.) has evaporated?
Yea but I'm surprised that it's lasting. I would have thought that would have petered out by now but still seems to be going strong. I think some other high in demand products have gone at least some steps back if not fully back to normal. Don't know why the TP thing still seems to be going strong. Once you have your stock how much can you buy. I suppose the only thing that I can think of is that it's become a vicious cycle creating a "new generation" of hoarders because of the shortage.Hoarding. It's a simple as that.
Some people are insane and panicking. I understand the shortage of hand sanitizer. Not everyone purchases this product, so the need/demand has greatly increased. As for TP, everyone uses it already. The nation produces enough TP for all of the butts in the US. There will never be a shortage if morons were not hoarding. This truly makes no sense. Can someone explain why there is a shortage of toilet paper, given that the commercial demand for the product (offices, malls, restaurants, hotels, etc.) has evaporated?

The answer is simple. There are a lot of asswipes in this world. Can someone explain why there is a shortage of toilet paper, given that the commercial demand for the product (offices, malls, restaurants, hotels, etc.) has evaporated?
The country club that we belong to are selling a "Bonus Household Package" which includes:I haven’t had to try this but I have seen several folks mention that some restaurant supply companies are selling to the general public now. TP may not be the quality you are used to but better than nothing .
My wife hit the Costco in Wayne at 8 this morning and was fortunate to get a 30 pack of toilet paper and 12 pack of paper towels. Their Kirkland vodka is pretty decent too for the price. Surprised they were allowed to sell it at 8am, lol.
A lot of people go to the bathroom at work. Now it all happens at home. It’s more than just hoarding, there is probably double the demand now.
The original hoarding caused a domino effect. It created a fear that if you go out today and buy just a 4 or 6 pack of TP like a normal person, that when you run out, there may not be any left. Thus, the person who never wanted to hoard, is forced to buy all they can when they see it available.
Same thing has happened with gloves and masks. People of supplies of hundreds and hundreds. Now, no one can get any. So, if you were to wonder in somewhere and see 2 boxes of 10, you are going to grab both. It sux but it is the reality
Different supply chain. Residential products and Commercial products don't cross paths. If companies are smart they will speed up with conversion. Can someone explain why there is a shortage of toilet paper, given that the commercial demand for the product (offices, malls, restaurants, hotels, etc.) has evaporated?
There are a few places that have now started to sell their commercial shipments of TP to the public at gauging prices.Different supply chain. Residential products and Commercial products don't cross paths. If companies are smart they will speed up with conversion.
If we are talking about #2 - a lot of MEN go at work.A lot of people go to the bathroom at work. Now it all happens at home. It’s more than just hoarding, there is probably double the demand now.

Was at BJ's last night, TP completely wiped out.
According to wife number one and confirmed by wife 2...women take ***** and do anything and everything else in public bathrooms and very nasty about it. Mens BR's are much much cleaner than most women public bathrooms by far.If we are talking about #2 - a lot of MEN go at work.
I have yet to hear any woman ever admit they did this at work. I'm sure it happens, but it's probably rare and an emergency event. Out of the women in my life (mom/sisters/girlfriends/wife), my limited sample(eww)...I mean observations(uhhh,...well YOU GET THE IDEA)...tells me they are not lying.
Other than hoarding, #1 for women and #2 for men is the tissue issue here.
Coming straight from a guy that worked over 30 years at MSG, the men's rooms were bad after events. The ladies were a complete disaster. Believe it was more about hovering for #1 though.According to wife number one and confirmed by wife 2...women take ***** and do anything and everything else in public bathrooms and very nasty about it. Bet those parents who took their kids TPing around Halloween are regretting it now. :Sly:
Ha! No need and no judgment. This is also on the list of why I'm happy to be a man.You try being drunk and squatting..all I'm saying ..I prefer not to discuss bathroom habits with strangers[roll]
Anybody remember the Johnny Carson toilet paper incident in the early 70's. During a monologue to start the Tonight Show he made a joke about an upcoming toilet paper shortage. Right after, there was a shortage as people stocked up.
