Rick Pitino an option for Seton Hall?

Im hearing its something to keep an eye on. Apparently theres speculation in basketball circles that Willard had feelers put out for Ga Tech and wake forest.

Pitino would be a killer hire for them and being that theyre not tax payer funded they could get away with it without the political bs. Will be an interesting next month or so to see how this all plays out. SHU would be a legitimate powerhouse with him.

Sha seems like the obvious choice but if rick pitino wants the job which everyone knows he would as he wants to coach again and loves this area, u HAVE TO take a serious look at it. St peters is the team I follow closest other than RU. Sha has done a GREAT job there so far and should dance this year with a super young team.

Their facilities and campus are ****. And im not saying this biased but RU is the better option for a recruit/general student, but it comes down to whos recruiting. Pitino would eat pikes lunch head to head. But think about it from a student perspective. Theres veryyyyy few kids who would choose SHU > RU. SHU is a commuter school and a dead campus, RU is just alot better

Every once in awhile I venture over to their board and naturally they have had discussions about Shaheen's success at St. Peters. I believe most thought he needs more time before being ready for the Hall but there was some who did not think he would ever be the Seton Hall HC. Not sure what was or is behind that sentiment.

There is absolutely no way (less than zero) that a school with any background like Seton Hall would hire Rick Pitino. I cannot comment on Georgia Tech being a potential opening but it's been a foregone conclusion that Danny Manning was toast at this time last year and somehow survived. Wake Forest is a dead program under Manning, but they have talent on that roster.

Wouldn't shock me if Willard left after this year and if the money is better elsewhere. He is at his zenith right now with Powell and no way SHU doesn't take a step down next year with Powell; McKnight graduating etc. Leave when you're at your peak and when your safeguard in Powell is gone.

It could take 3 years out to complete those facilities and who knows where the coaching landscape will be. Willard has worked through his growing pains at SHU, so I don't see a scenario anytime soon where he's going to get fired.....he is probably solid for another 5 years without any concerns.

Go to Wake Forest and hope Coach K and Roy Williams eventually retire??...Probably not a safe place at Wake Forest.

Agree on those ACC programs (Cuse/Pitt - falling off) because enough time has passed since realignment that we’re seeing why the ESPN propped up conference is losing its luster in revenue sports (ACC saying thank god for Clemson)

Talking about all ACC teams play second fiddle to Duke/UNC but suddenly SHU wins one conference championship in 25 years and they don’t play second fiddle to Villanova?

Play in a worse conference with far worse practice facility and with a smaller operating budget.
