I will point to this as example A of proper fit and proceed with caution if and when the NBA ever comes looking around in Piscataway for Pikes.

If he wants to continue to coach he will not be without a job for long. Excellent college coach. He flirted with the NBA a couple of times before taking the Cleveland job so I guess he had a curiosity that needed to be filled. Too bad it did not work out. NBA is a players league. Guys like Stevens and Donovan have made the adjustment but it's not easy unless highly adaptable.

He should never have left Michigan for the NBA. I'm sure he realized that very quickly. I too wish him well but hope he doesn't return to the Big 10.

My guess is he will be retiring. Not a spring chicken. I think he had tired of college and competing against teams he felt were cheating to recruit players without ever getting punished and he wanted to take a shot at the NBA and basketball at the highest level without anything to worry about off the court.

Turns out his best skills as a coach are teaching fundamentals and developing young players and not necessarily relating to a bunch of rich professionals and getting the most out of them.

Saw this coming a mile away. He was probably the least NBA type coach of any upper tier college coach out there. Was shocked he took the job and would be shocked if he is ther next year.

Can see Beilein going to:

- Texas should Shaka be canned
- Indiana should Archie be canned
- Northwestern
- Syracuse should Boehrim retire
- Villanova should Jay Wright go NBA

i could see Jay Wright headed to the Knicks and Beilein would be a great fit at Nova

when is Boeheim retiring, man he has become irrelevant.

Who is going to take over at UNC when Roy retires?

IMO, It was always a very strange decision.

When he took the job I said odds are it was a bad move. Older coach who was in a good situation at Michigan. Some on this board debated that he'd be happy because he would no longer have to recruit. I'm sure he wishes he was back out recruiting and dealing with alumni as opposed to being in the NBA.

This is an important point. One reason he got tired of Michigan is that he doesn't want to play the recruiting game. A school like Northwestern would probably be a perfect fit. I see Indiana or Michigan State as much less of a fit.

I think Indiana and others are too soon to start talking about replacing a coach...Archie Miller has been at Indiana since 2017 and has a 7 year contract....Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State are also very early into their tenures.

Beilien probably could land at Minnesota if they wanted to replace Pitino Jr and maybe change how Minnesota plays....I am not sure what type of demand Beilien would have this spring from colleges. It seems like an easier hire to go younger and with a mid major coach that's due.

Well most of the talk from Indiana fans right now is whether the buyout for Miller makes removing him possible. It's not a question of if but when. Frankly, it's hard to disagree with them having no confidence in this guy.

How did a good coach like Miller fail at Indy? That should be a easy situation to win games. Maybe the fan demands post Knight are too high?

Crazy Dayton may have ended up with the best part of the Miller to IU deal

He is recruiting the wrong kind of kids. They literally have no identity and I dont think they play hard

Expectations are high there but no sure they are realistic. Its the 70s anymore. They need to go back to basics

Funny thing is if he only just got the same kind of kids he got at Dayton, they would be a top 15 team. He’s getting higher rates kids and doing less with them. He’s underachieving just like Tom Crean.
