Jesus we have the weakest fans. Guess what guys, we’re the underdog in almost every game from here on out. Seriously, the real fans here don’t need the quitters. Go home. Six games left before the B1G and we have the toughest schedule in the country. This is going to be a rocky road. We may lose a few in a row. But I wouldn’t want it any other way. Seriously, fans are quitting because we lost to OSU?!? We’ll bounce back

OP is SPOT-ON... I honestly think sometimes people around here forget that we have one of the youngest teams in the nation, that we play in the most difficult conference in the nation, with one of the best in conference home records in the nation, of all conferences, I don’t have a roster full of four and five star kids. That effort tonight in the second half, especially the last 10 minutes, was simply amazing.

I’m scared to think of how good this Team can be next year once they get over the road game hump and hopefully that happened sometime this month!!

To be fair, no one's quitting. People are concerned and annoyed. We can say underdog all we want, but the last few minutes of the game tonight proved that we can hang w OSU on the road, and had we not been asleep and way outhustled, esp by that kid Young, we may have won that game...

I've been generally positive after this game...I was not during NW, and for good reason. The team is acting a bit like they've already accomplished all their goals...they need to wake up. I'll be at the game Saturday and hope to get back on track. But yeah, passionate fans get mad and frustrated...being 100 percent positive all the time is a silly litmus test.

1-8 on the road. This is on coaching. Need to get guys to buy in.

I think coaching can help. I do think we can try a little better to draw up an offense to get to the rim a little earlier....but I also think part of it is that the team is young and they are more susceptible to the whims of the emotions in the road and home. Hopefully we mature a bit and can still feed off the RAC but also maintain our game on the road.

It's already happened from last year to this to be honest. We don't start chucking up 3s nonstop when we get down now. The other teams starting so hot has been unfortunate too, and us not getting up to play the insanely intense D we need to at the start of games. A lineup shakeup could help.

Who said they’re quitting? Haven’t seen that on the board anywhere.

To be fair, fans are quitting. I’ve seen quite the number of posts saying “it’s been a nice season” or “we’re not gonna make it.”

LoL quitting is when they stop watching, posting, or going to games. People get frustrated when they are into sports. I never understood the whole " you're not a real fan" argument just because people aren't always looking for the positive after losses.

I have no idea who is quitting. But if you call fans weak cause losing a few in a row...we've just lost 3 of 4 and just barey beating the 2 worst conf teams at home. I guess maybe possibly going 1 and 5 from here....finishing 4 and 9 and finishing 9 /11 (18-14 overall) is cool after being 13 and 5.

That's a real possibility right now how we are playing, who we are playing, and our road woes. I'll root for them big time. and hope for the best. But don't think we suck cause of how things are playing of late given where we were set to be. I'm not one of those Rutgers fans forever making excuses and settling for less. Been doing that sine the early 80's save a couple of years.

Lecture me when you have 40 years in.

People don’t realize how much these guys are feeling it right now

We haven’t danced in 29 years and they carry that on their shoulders to get over the hump

8-6/17-8....is a great record in the best college basketball confrence

Let’s take care of business and get to 9-6/18-8 and leap frog Illinois into 5th place on Saturday

I am getting sick & tired of seeing so many people ripping our team. We have accomplished more than what was expected this year and we still are fighting in every game. We are in the toughest conference in the country and every game is difficult. If you can't support our guys than maybe you should just walk away.

It's fair to criticize post-game new threads/posts that are overly critical (or even new threads started during the game that are critical without even knowing the outcome yet), but the game threads are unfair to criticize heavily. It's the equivalent of yelling at your TV, real time. People are always going to freak out in game threads, because they're emotionally invested fans. Every school in the country has neurotic, psychotic, nutzo game threads. Every one.

Especially the ones who say the team doesn’t play a full 40 minutes. It’s definitely not lack of effort. Execution yes, effort no.
Totally agree with the OP...This is a tough stretch, support the team. period. Having said that, their effort for most of this game on the boards was not as it usually is. Out worked a bit...Hopefully clean that up and play well vs ILL...Let's continue to be loud the ENTIRE game Saturday!!!

The better the team gets the worse the game threads get.
I used to loveee the game threads but they have gotten worse and worse. 2 minutes into the game people declaring its over, everyone sucks, did I mention its over?

Some of the same people lecturing in other threads too

Game threads are awful. I checked in at halftime and postgame and all too predictable. Someone made the comment that the postgame threads are more sane which is probably a valid point. Also notice that the OTB comments are infinitely more reasonable and I don’t really know why that is.

1-8 on the road. This is on coaching. Need to get guys to buy in.

buy in? We are in the middle of what could be best season in Rutgers history since the final four team. To be honest it is probably a top 5 season already. I think the guys have bought in. Need to learn to finish.

No team is facing the pressure that our guys are right now especially knowing that winning on the road is now the elephant in the room...

Iowa has won one game on road in Big Ten i believe. Lost at Nebraska. We are playing 4 sophomores who take dumb shots and leave 3 point shooters open.

I rarely go into game threads even after a winning game. So the emotional posting in that thread aside....... to be fair, I think that the posters being referred to as quitters can be counted on one hand, some of whom are the more annoying and repetative volume posters on this board.

Weakest fans? That’s a bit over the top. Like someone posted above, game threads are the exact same emotional real time responses you’d hear from people sitting next to you In the stands at the RAC, at a bar, or in front of the TV. And I’ll guarantee all the self declared “quitters” will be back living and dying with each shot next game against Illinois. It doesn’t make them less of a fan than you - It’s why fan is short for fanatical. This is one of the most passionate bases in the country IMO.

Your premise is wrong. Fans are not quitting , they get discouraged, big difference

And that will happen with any fan base, they get discouraged when their team looks bad and goes down 20 points

I am happy with our season overall and think we have won more games than expected up to this point.

I also think that the few shortcomings on our team have been exposed and taken advantage of lately, which is why a team like Northwestern gave us so much trouble, and Ohio state had so many wide open threes

I would not be shocked if we don’t make the tourney at this point, but there would be every reason to be optimistic for the future. Which is plenty reason to stay on the bandwagon, go to games and cheer on the team

Guess most of the B1G has trouble with coaching since it has been very hard for the conference to win on the road
Are most teams 1-8? No one is saying it’s easy to win on the road but we clearly look different on the road vs home.

Pike himself said in his post game that we have to play a full 40 minutes and we have to play better. The mindless "support" rather than fair analysis is not productive. As long as people continue to support by going to games, cheering, etc, and give the kids a round of applause after the season no matter what - they are fine.

You are actually patronizing them by acting like they fought so hard but just couldn't match up to big scary ol Ohio State. It's nonsense. We slept through the first half, and when we finally woke up and played to our actual level, which was enough to beat OSU or hang all game, it was too little too late. That can be called out. Pike called them out by benching all the starters to start the second half.

One thing we need to keep in mind: Just about every team in the conference that we have lost to on the road has at least one player who appears on a mock NBA draft board, whether it's first or second round or on the bubble. That continues to be the real elephant in the room IMO. Go RU
