Nice solid win. But when we were up 30 then we got really sloppy and they started hitting threes to make the score appear closer than the game really was. We need to still finish these types of games and not get so lazy with our sets.

1-0 for the day. Mission accomplished. Won't win in the B1G with the sloppiness at times. Probably had brain freeze from finals, but maybe our academic ratings will rise.

IMO, young should not see the floor. Don’t care about his defense. Give him 5 min if you want for some D otherwise he is horrendous with a capital H. His offense is such a liability it outweighs anything he does defensively. He has no shooting touch and is out of control on almost every offensive possession

There has to be a way for the coaching staff to reign him in. He has to be out there for defense. They need to be very clesr that on the offensive end, he is to play under control and within the offense.

Been watching RU basketball for a long time and haven't seen a big man dominant as much as Johnson today. We have to avoid the BS fouls on MJ for B10 road games.

Very few fouls called and very few foul shots taken. Clock kept running which made it a quick game.

Not really happy on effort over last 10 minutes but it us a W. I think we have to learn how to bury teams and keep them buried even more. No reason that team should have played us even up in the 2nd half. We need to win EVERY half

A handful of experimenting done in the last 12 to 13 minutes of play....saw Mathis running some of Baker stuff at PG, Mulcahy getting run at point and letting Paul either pass to Myles or score.

I would never say a game vs Lafayette is meaningless, when you're able to add a layer of confidence for players like Myles, Mulcahy, you take it.

Even if you are Nebraska and Penn State, you have more things to prepare for on tape, where you just can't focus on Baker, Harper and maybe Yeboah.

Mulcahy with 10 easy points, 5 assists and 4 steals. If you get half of that in B1G play, you take it tomorrow.

Very nice win, with Myles, Geo, Paul and Caleb each having good games. Regarding Young and Mathis, both had bad games, but Young has more upside imo than Mathis. He's a better defender than Mathis and has more offensive tools. Mathis has terrible body language and seems much less energetic than Young. They're both still figuring it out, I guess, and I hope they each get it together, but neither are contributing the way they should at this point. Mulcahy and Caleb may start getting more of their minutes.

I disagree on body language. Young throws his hands in the air and sulks after every turnover. He's a huge baby out there.

Don't you think they have told him this by now? If so, pull him off the court.
I don't think they have been clear. I'd bet they've said something, but I mean you call him into the office and say, "If you can't play under control, you won't play. We need you on defense. Go out there on offense and be a part of the team. Your hero ball is unacceptable."

100% disagree. Mathis is a True Soph and has shown he can step up against better teams. Young has shown nothing besides some decent D.

This deserves its own thread but congrats to Myles for his career high in points today. Monster game and that last dunk pretty much summed up his day. Great stuff, keep it up Myles!

Career high in points, and also tied his career high in rebounds. And in just 24 min. Monster game.

The thing is, Young WAS under control today. He didn’t really have any of those WTF out of control drives. But he STILL had 4 TOs.

I thought if he could reign things in a bit, he would be more effective. But he’s STILL a turnover machine, and he STILL can’t shoot the ball into the ocean on threes.

He’s a HUGE liability on offense. But his on-ball defense is SUPERB, so he needs to play 15-20 mpg.

I know we need Young’s D when we get into the teeth of conference play, but he has got to leave half of his ego on the bench when he steps on the court. The half that controls his offensive mindset.

Early in the 2nd half he took off on one of his coast to coasts, tried to do some crazy move & missed the rim entirely. Right then he should have been yanked out & taken a seat next to Pikel. No explanation. Just let him sit there & stew until he figured it out. And he shouldn't play again until he figures out that this is a team game not a Young game. Only way.

Could not disagree more about Mathis. He plays a huge role for us as a starter. Terrific defender (as is Young).

Not talking about that early in the game. But Pike mentioned after the game how finals week might have contributed to our sloppiness at the end. Maybe just an excuse or too much studying.
