Schiano spent 11 years at Rutgers and never won a conference title. Heck, Flood figured out how to do that. His last three seasons on the banks his best finish was 4th place in the crappy old Big East.
Why do you remember him being as a guy which after more than a decade on the job could only deliver a crappy 4th place in a conference much weaker than the BigTen? And why do you believe he will somehow do better and not be completely outmatched by better game day coaches like he was for 11 years in the old Big East?

He was just let go from a B10 school for being historically bad. We've seen what lower B10 teams can do against his coaching. But the worshippers don't care about being good. They care about their God just being in the stadium

For one. Floods team that “won” the big East was all schiano guys.
Schiano literally took a d1-as program who had been to one bowl in 125 years and got them to be ranked in the top 15 in the final polls within 5 years. He went to 7 bowl games. We have been to a total of 3 bowl games in the 140 years he wasn’t a coach.
he ran a very clean program that was top APR every year.
he recruited at the highest level ever for Rutgers
He built the facilities and stadium expansion.
Very few scandals or arrests.
He was more than a coach to many players and students and alumni. See Legrand
We went from 5k season tickets to a waiting list under him.
HE IS THE REASON WE ARE IN THE BIG!!

there is no candidate right now interested in this job that will better meet our needs then Greg. At the very least he will reunite the fanbase and bring in recruits and get facilities built.

With the whole 'Schiano never won the BE but Flood did' stuff, I always laugh at how NO ONE mentions that WVU wasn't in the league in 2012. Replace WVU with Temple from 2005-2012 and how many potential league titles do we have then?

There are three things you need to know about College Football. Everything else falls into place based on these three things

1) Recruiting
2) Recruiting
3) Recruiting

Greg Schinao can flat out recruit and has all the connections to jump-start the program and give hope where it is desperately needed .

Well for starters look at the other realistic options.... But schiano will bring this program back to respectability. Will we win any championships with him probably not. But we will be a bowl team again and knock off some big teams while he is here and ge will also help heal some high school connections that seem to have dried up. Down the road we will need another guy to bring us to the next level. Before you say why not find that guy now the easy answer is he isnt out there schiano is the absolute best we can do right now.

So basically Flood can "win" a big east title with Greg's players - but Greg could not. He was busy getting blown out by Uconn with those players. Decade of building and the best he could do was Texas bowls and Yankee bowls. And he needed to schedule meac schools + army & navy every yr - just to accomplish that. Hes gotten exposed the moment he no longer had weak schedules to fall back on. Osu couldn't be more improved after letting him go. It's a reason no one else wants him. He's low caliber head coach. It just so happens RU keeps hiring midgets even smaller than him

Yawn. Get lost. So we should hire addazio who is getting fired from BC. Who should we realistically hire instead? And butch jones is out as well along with hafley.
At the very very least with Greg we will get much better talent and better facilities here. But i expect much bigger things.

Ask his former players. They know more about him than virtually everyone on this board. And after Ash, why would anyone trust the AD to select another coach.

To you and all of the Schiano haters (is it fun to be labeled),

1. I love Rutgers, not Greg Schiano.
2. Everything tells me that Schiano is the best choice to lead us out of this hell Rutgers Football has been in! He will hit the ground running, recruit, rebuild the program, recruit and recruit some more.
3. How can you not see this?

A dropped pass away from a conference title in WV and a BCS Bowl berth. Closer than anyone else got us and he was bringing in 4 and 5 start recruits when he left.

We saw him recruit for a decade and still get embarrased by Tulane and Uconn. And give up 69 pts to Butch Davis. And let Fresno st and Maryland both run the ball down his throat for 300 rushing yds a piece. I could go on and on about this fraud continously falling short. He's a fraud

...it's easy to make a point for yourself when you ignore half or more of the data. I remember beating cuse in '99; we were awesome that year.

I love the "Flood won a conference championship and GS didn't" argument. People forget that 4 teams won the championship that year, so it's not as great an accomplishment as you might think.

A dropped pass away?? He got his a** schooled by a freshman back up quarterback. He was lucky Pat White didnt play -- because he would've really schooled Greg. Can't even beat a back up quarterback with a BCS birth on the line smh

Come on. They committed to Greg. And hafley worked for Greg. And for someone that loves people giving yo Rutgers, wallets were much more open under Greg then they ever were. And all that big ten money we got and will get ... can give Greg some credit for that as well.

And Hafley isn’t coming here.
At this point it is either Greg or addazio or that tennis player. That’s what we’re down too. you pick who you want of those 3.

Best realistic coach is Butch. He's won everywhere he's been

he is out. He won’t come after this mess this past week.
And he never built a program at Cincy. He inherited Brian Kelly’s team when Kelly was the hottest coach in football and credit Dantonio too at cincy.

He turned a Tennessee team that was winning only 5 games every yr -- and won 9 games twice. He can build his own rosters up and win

he is out. He won’t come after this mess this past week.

most people wanted him gone on this board as he demonstrated he was not a good game-day coach and spent too much time on the small micro details. This board has a short memory. He is the best short-term option but ultimately will hold the program back long-term if brought back
