It depends on what happens with the 4 losses. If RU is competitive with OSU(35-21 or something like that) and PSU then you have to give him strong consideration.

He is not even close to being ready. Not even remotely close. You think that RU is going to spend 10 million dollars on fired coaches salaries to turn around and hire Nunzio? I mean come'on guys
I'm just saying, you have an audition type scenario taking place. Theres got to be some sort of scenario where you would actually have to entertain the idea.

Yes, but I'd imagine the bar is going to pretty high for a coach with his experience. With that said, Hobbs did say he will entertain any coach that will make RU a winner, and if he wins every game possible except PSU and OSU, what you going to do?

Just changing the HC doesn't change reality. We are just not all that good and it is doubtful we will suddenly become better.
The three year plus rebuild under Ash is what we have to work with.

If he beats Ohio State and Penn State and Michigan State? I'd hire him.

I wonder what the odds are...

Not as good as MegaMillions.

But if he beats Liberty, Illinois, Indiana AND Maryland, something not even RutgersAl was contemplating 48 hours ago, you have to think about it.

I wouldn't even think about it. That's not nearly enough to get the type of recruits coming here in the kinds of numbers we need as quickly as we want.

It would be a great show of organizational and motivational skill along with game-day coaching, no doubt. But recruiting is what is needed to become competitive in the Big Ten. And recruits won't look at beating those teams you mentioned and go "RU is the place for me".

His background is Bergen County Parochials. That's an excellent base for recruiting.

Flood started out 7-0, Fuente and Hoke had double digit win seasons in their first years....too hard to say much on such short term results...so just about nothing realistically he could do.

And how many future NFL/CFL players did Flood have on that roster? And Paul James as well. Apples and oranges.

Nunzio goes 500 the rest of the way. Do you retain him?
If it also looks like he can turn those wins into recruiting success, I would say, sure, do it. But it won't happen. How much can a coach realistically do to change the direction of this team in the middle of the season on a few days notice? In fact I think a more realistic result is that things actually get worse for a few weeks and then steady a bit due to the chaos of the change.

No one is going to get those recruits until RU wins(no one coming to RU is going to excite recruits right away, not Schiano, not Jones and RU is not getting Meyer) and if Nunzio wins at least 4 and is competitive in the other games, with what RU has right now, you have to give him a good look. This is a good position to be in as you can try out a coach without having to sign him for any period of time. Now do I think Nunzio is going to win 4+ games, no, but you can't discount anyone right now.

Saban, Meyers and Dabo most likely got lucky breaks and maybe this is Nunzio's lucky break(I am not comparing Nunzio to those 3 but you don't know until given a chance).

I'm not getting sucked into this debate. It's another "who would win in a fight, a monkey or a dog" thing. LOL
Lol, its a message board. What else are we supposed to do? If the team does a complete 180 and starts looking very strong I think it warrants a look. Now I agree, I dont think its going to happen but if by some chance he goes 6-2 and wins a bowl game, You might want to consider it.

Again very unlikely.

Not sure about P5... Uconn? Who else will have openings. If he takes this mess and gets 5 Wins, thats some real magic right there.

Please stop--He's never been a coordinator in college at any level.

Beating Maryland Liberty and perhaps another could occur if the kids go out with no hc.

Keep him and get his brother on staff but the worst thing that could happen is turning this multi million dollar program to someone with no CEO experience.

The job is more than calling on side kicks. It's managing quite a lot, including public perception. He's years from ready.

If Nunzio took over and we won 4 out of the next 5 it would be proof that Ash was the wrong guy and this isn’t such a project as people make it out to be.

He should be hired on the spot if he goes 6-2 and wins a bowl game under those circumstances.

BTW, Dabo Sweeney was never a coordinator before becoming interim head coach in the middle of the season.
