My comment did not state that last year was a success. My point was that if we continue to play AS this year, it would hopefully provide a better opportunity to be more competitive and successful over the next two years versus sitting him this year. I am unwilling to trade that opportunity for a few wins this year with Carter.
that was the same logic that was used last year. in hindsight, gio should have
started, and art should have played in limited action. then red shirted,,,,,only in rutgersland the reverse will happen this season. the fifth year player will start, and sit will see some action, then red shirt....what makes this year different is carter is a better qb than gio. gio to his credit, had guts, and grit, but not the most accurate passer.....if carter starts, we have a shot to win five games, and a possible sixth....crazy am i, your probably right....just remember ,this is rutgers. expect the unexpected...i sure wasn't expecting one win a year ago, after our four wins the year before. well, it seems everyone expects another repeat of last year.....remember gomer pyle surprise, surprise....get ready for a very pleasant surprise this year....shazaam

All I am saying is that your plan is not sustainable and dooms the program for the next few years. Why would we "route" for that?

Here's an idea. We play who gives us a chance to win. If our team shows some signs of life maybe we can recruit some better players and get us the F out of this hell we're in.

No I was really disappointed that one of the best Rutgers QB's of all time got to play despite all the people wanting him to be replaced by a guy who eventually shifted to tight end.

See that's sarcasm.
First statement was better. This is too wordy for sarcasm.

If Sit sits we better hope Snyder and/or Simon or a QB to be named later makes the finals of the talent competition or our lives will continue to be :YesNoon fall Saturdays.

Honestly with all the transfers going on these days it's not as big of a deal as it could be.

You are making he same argument from two years ago when Bolin started at QB. How did that turn out?

Doing the same action over and over and expecting a different result is …..?
Yes, that would be trotting Sitkowski out there again.:Fist: :FistBump:

Look, I don't care who gets the first start, but Ash should not leave Art out there for the whole season like he did last year if he continues to repeat the same mistakes. He should be pulled in the first or second game and see what Carter can do. Preferably, however, give Carter the start under the same guidelines.

You bring up Bolin, but it is not the same situation. Bolin had more game experience and a record of success than Gio going into the 2017 season. In t his instance, Art has more experience, but would be hard pressed to say he has a record of success.

I think the BC game is probably the biggest game of Ash's career at Rutgers.

Agree completely. If he loses to BC and doesn't pull a miracle out against Iowa or Michigan I don't think he makes it to October. FYI::: I am an optimist and hope we are at least 2-1 going into Michigan

Really, both guys should get a chance to play meaningful snaps in games 1 and 2. The schedule actually sets up nicely to allow that to happen, with no one expecting too much on the road at Iowa and either qb should be capable of easily beating UMass.

If Sitkowski is announced as the starter and they don't split time, I for one would be worried about the season outlook. It seems pretty clear that Sitkowski has improved but only incrementally. There is at least a chance that Carter will show some actual flashes of good play and could be a pleasant surprise.

As I stated earlier, I am not opposed to both QB's playing meaningful time. But we also need to know if AS is the QB in the longer term and having him sit is not the answer.

74% of diehard and long time fans choose Carter

LOL... Die Hard fans ??? Half the people on this board voting in the poll are the same ones who have been saying the past few months how they re all giving up their tickets... those arent your die hard fans... those are the band wagon fans and program deserters who spend their days whining to each other on the message boards.

I not a fan of using a graduate transfer. for a couple more wins, then next year have to start all
over - again. I feel Mass is the perfect team to start Sit, see how much he improves, you can always switch to
Carter.

A QB is a leader, able to motivate the Offense, has the ability to move the team into a scoring position, consistently. A QB knows the value of protecting the ball, and is able to do so. A QB has the experience to understand field positions, moments, strengths and weakness of his own Offense, including his. A QB is always able to execute the basics, i.e., snaps, handoffs, playcalling, short passes. A QB is also able to read the Defense, and playcall accordingly. A QB is fearless, but smart. A QB will put his team into a position of success, not failure! The player that can best do all of those things, should be the QB to lead your team! I saw a player last year, I'm hoping for a QB this year. The first game will tell me, who we have behind center, a player, or a QB.....

It's more about Art needing more time to work on his game than anything else. A year learning will actually put him in better position to handle the job in 2020.

A QB can do allmost everything you listed IF he has a line that can block at a power 5 level.
You rebuild a program in the trenches.Blazak was fired for his inability to develop and recruit lineman at power five level.has that been fixed in 6 months?

OL Coach Rossomondo is a No Nonsense, all Business type of coach, teaching very different blocking techniques. Will be interesting to see if there are noticeable improvement in the OLine.
I’m somewhat optimistic.

I’m somewhat optimistic.

I have no opinion on the new OL coach but Blazek was called a future HC and best coach on staff by many around here.

I'll withhold my optimism for now on any coach assessments.
