It has long appeared that Pike has given shooting green lights to almost all who are on the floor. Yes there is some positive to that, but the wasted possessions outweigh that. Time to expect some modicum of judicious shot selection from the players. In particular:
Harper--Should refrain from almost all 3s unless wide wide wide open. Good slashing and should do that and pull ups.
Issa--What can be said. Again he LIKES to shoot the three, but no proof he is good at it. Defends well at times with length and runs the floor. Should have limits also of only wide wide wwide open 3.
Geo--Waaaay too many super deep 3s. He should be told to shot the open 3 but have some shot selection consideration.
Mathis--same as Geo. Open 3s but no bombs or forces.
Caleb--Open 3s but for a pg too much shoot first. Good energy but shot selection should be a focus.
Pike at this point needs to work on shot selection as that clearly has not been a focus.
With such an O deficiency you just cant waste possessions. Agree with transition as much as we can but wasting possessions seems to have not been a concern and perhaps the long leash needs to be tightened a little and players forced to focus on what they do best such as Mathis and Harper taking it to the hole and developing mid range games.
