Too many bad shots today. Do we have a play to get someone inside for a better shot? We can’t live and die by the 3 and 20 footers if we’re shooting 20%

That was an awful half. As usual particularly glaring on the offensive end which lead to a total collapse. He ought to be administering some very tough love in the locker room.

Pikiell's built up a fair reservoir of good will in his time at RU, but he's inching his way towards a seat next to Ash in fans' hearts with some of the team's recent performances.

The knock on Pike coming out of SB was that he was not a good X&Os guy. So this really shouldn't be that surprising.

Considering where we are as a program I'd say his recruiting is solid/good.

There will be no mulligans for him next year
..none

That's why 2020 recruiting is huge..fail at a strong class and I dont see how he can turn things around

He and Jay Young are good defensive coaches and game planners . However we don’t seem to have anyone who can coach or develop guys offensively . Our offense lacks imagination and obviously having guys who can shoot abs create can help but that’s on the staff then for not developing them. Every team seems to guys who can hit shots but we can’t find or ever develop guys that can . Something is really wrong if this can’t happen on a big ten level

Made me laugh when people pointed to the second half against Maine as a glimmer.

Not sure if you mean me but the only reason I was a bit positive was because the freshmen had good games

My hope for LAST YEAR was no more 20 point losses. Absolutely embarrassing that it's still happening in year 3.

If you aren’t a strong offensive coach, either find one or better be really good at recruiting.

We have 0 point guards on the roster. We add two next year. 4 freshman are key contributors. As mentioned above if this continues on to next year then we have a problem.
I am sick of hearing his post game interview where he keeps saying this is on me and the coaching staff yet apparently they don’t seem to do anything about it

Pike’s the guy who thought that Souf Mensah could play the point. Just think what this year would be like if Pike and his staff had brought in a JuCo last season who could be the starter now? Don’t think that Baker’s shooting would be trash if he was the 2 instead of the 1. ALL on Pike.

Next year will be almost as bad with a frosh point and Baker trying to rebuild his game. On to 2020 when Mulcahy will be a soph and Baker a senior.

We are offensively inept and getting unglued. I don’t care how good Maryland is..we are not this bad. Pike hasn’t made the adjustments we need. On him.
I still like Pike a lot, but I didn't understand why he didn't stay in the 2/3 zone longer. Yes, Cowan or Aiala hit a three there, but it was a long three with the clock winding down. Maryland, as balanced as they are, still has trouble when zone is played against them.

Also, I took a look at their recruiting the last 3 years. Cowan is the veteren as a junior and was a 4 star recruit. All of the other starters are 4 star recruits and Jalen Smith is a 5 star recruit. Today, they lived up to their billing. Our kids look out of sorts and are either inconsistent in shooting from the outside, or don't know when to dribble drive and force the defense into making a stop and getting fouled.

I'm hoping this is growing pains and sooner than later this team will begin to gel. Personally, I like seeing Thiam benched. He has regressed and I don't know why. I think he's just not tough enough and I don't know what can be said to the kid to toughen him up mentally. I think he needs to drive to the basket more to set up his confidence to his some outside shots. And Geo right now looks really off. He's being keyed on as the returning starter and he's not handling it well. I do however, like our kids like McConnell, Mathis, Harper and Johnson. I think as they continue to grow this year, these four can be the nucleus for a winning program in the near future. Right now though, they look really green out there at certain times and our shooting suffers.

Big fan of Pikiell. BUT Coach sure has built up good will with us RU fans, and I’m starting to think he may be too nice. Just like our players, he may lack Killer instinct and toughness on them

We have zero shooters or offensive talent. Basketball is a game of scoring. If guys can’t shoot, it doesn’t matter what you draw up.
