Our best 2 and worst 2 vs theirs. You picked our two worst games to their two best games, it is not an apples to apples comparison.

Campus has made major upgrades. South Orange up and coming town. Don't have to take a bus to class. Not a commuter school anymore. More than half the students live on campus.Prudential Center is head and shoulders above the RAC Shack. You can sit in a seat in a nice arena, have a beer with your client and watch good basketball.Nah, they dont have much history or tradition. They made the final 4 in 89 and had a nice season in ‘91. Theres not much history and tradition. Ive never admitted this on here before today but I was an enormous seton hall fan until I enrolled at RU in 2010. It honestly really took me until like 2014 to fully convert. Few followed SHU bball as close as me from about ‘98 to 2014.
I honestly dont know how theyre attracting talent to South Orange. The campus is a disaster and it’s dead, it is truly a commuter school. I was a huge seton hall and wouldnt even apply to the school. Their facilities suck, they play at the rock, their fanbase is kinda weak, the school academically aint great, they have had ONE dude drafted since 2001 and that was a 2nd rounder in Whitehead so its not like theyre an nba breeding ground. I dont get it

Would any of Columbia's players been recruited by Big10 or Big East schools?Willard is a better coach than most people...I'm not talking just Rutgers fans either...give him credit for. Having said that, out coaching Mark Turgeon isn't too difficult.
One player might help you beat Wisconsin considering how we played against them. A guy like Powell probably prevents a long scoring drought. And yes, having one top flight scorer makes a big difference. Do you not watch basketballWrong. We played Columbia today. Shouldn’t need all the 3s to win. Compared to Columbia and Fordham, We don’t need “one player”.
I get Powell is a difference maker but SHU otherwise lost most of last years starters.
Is coaching better?
We lose to Fordham and struggle at home to beat Columbia.
SHU goes on the road to knock off Maryland.
The Pirates most likely go to the NCAA tourney again this season and we talk about maybe
going to the NIT in the next two years.
27 years and counting...
Frustrating!
I’ll try one last time. One player can make a big difference. BUT, you shouldn’t need that one player against Fordham and Columbia.....because RU should win by 15 pts in both games. Do you get it yet? When you lose to a much much lesser team, it’s on the coach. One player might help you beat Wisconsin considering how we played against them. In my opinion, every on campus arena is head and shoulders above every off campus arena.

My initial comments had absolutely nothing to do with Fordham and Columbia. I was talking about the makeup of the team and how a guy like Powell makes a difference. We can talk coaching all day, but Pike has to get a big time scorer. Getting a scorer like Powell helps you beat Wisconsin and MSU. The difference between SHU and RU is not coaching. Hell, we beat them last year with much lesser talent.I’ll try one last time. One player can make a big difference. This. Willard is better than he is given credit for. Turgeon is probably the worst game coach in the B1G. His ability to recruit masks his inability to coach.
I just don’t know how you can talk about beating Wisc and MSU when we can’t beat Fordham and need OT to beat Columbia (at home). My initial comments had absolutely nothing to do with Fordham and Columbia. Their coach is a Pitino disciple. Shady recruiting practices is probably what enables them to get these players. It's not the school. It's not the campus. It's not the coaches. Remember the Jerome WhiteheadAs much as it kills to say, their program is leaps and bounds better than ours. More history. More tradition.
Hence they’re more attractive to better players.
All about recruiting talent.
Are you a Maryland fan? I'm curious because our fans say this too...just wow if you're a Rutgers can saying this.
I'm not critcizing you, I'm just saying if this is what Rutgers fans think of our coach !@#$!@ ^!$#$!@#$!@ we suck.
That’s irrelevant! Did you watch the the Wisconsin and MSU game? A player like Powell for RU would make a huge difference in those games. RU’s biggest problem in those types of games has been scoring droughts. They lost by five against Wisconsin. A game they had control of in the first half but hit a wall. Do you really think having a guy like Powell, who is one of the best scorers in college, wouldn’t help us beat Wisconsin or MSU?I just don’t know how you can talk about beating Wisc and MSU when we can’t beat Fordham and need OT to beat Columbia (at home).
I am usually not a critic of other schools but come on man . Seton Hall is a second or third rate Catholic School. There is a reason you offer RU rates if you have a B or better grades. Who would go there otherwise? Every Rutgers NB student would get into SH if wanted and the opposite is not even close. As for the Pru, it is a Pro arena, of course it is nice. Ever been to Cameron? It is a dump but one of the best places to watch a game. But I still remember the after game press conference last year and a reporter asked one of your players what they thought of crowd noise, and he said something like the Pru gets like that once in a while. Powell looked over at him and laughed.
You have a very nice BBall team, leave at that and do not even try to compare SH to RU academically.

recruiting stories? Where there is smoke. . .
We have all heard the brown paper bag stories and the hiring of AAU coaches. Rutgers is not going to play that game and that's a good thing.
The thread was intended to discuss reasons for SHU's success on the court compared to our what seems never ending quest to achieve your level of competitiveness. Academics clearly is not the answer. Some ( though far from all) of the posts in this thread do not lend credence to the academic superiority of Rutgers.
Ill play you 1 on 1 for $10k. Horse for $50kPlease stop embarrassing yourself. You’re a complete tool.

It’s coaching. They outperform and we underperform.

A tool with money.
The funny thing is Rutgers stopped recruiting him once we landed Corey Sanders. He wanted to come hereI get Powell is a difference maker but SHU otherwise lost most of last years starters.

Is that really the best you can do? Your own posters are embarrassed for you.Ill play you 1 on 1 for $10k. Horse for $50k

Correct me if I’m wrong, but What does this even mean? That because we’re Rutgers fans, we’re automatically morons when it comes to basketball because our team usually sucks?
Did you go to SHU? Dead *** place offers nothing. All my friends who went to SHU who were homebodys whk visited me at RU on weekends they wanted to go out.Is that really the best you can do? Your own posters are embarrassed for you.
I'm not fully familiar with their roster, but they have a team with more Division I game experience than RU and they have some high IQ players. When a younger team, that is already struggling, runs into a more experienced team you can end up with a struggle win. Or worse, a loss.Would any of Columbia's players been recruited by Big10 or Big East schools?
Talent wise we should be better.
So either we do not play to potential or coaching is part of the problem.
