Yep the GSK vaccine is significantly better, sad to say. I was going to get the vaccine a few months ago, when, oddly enough, I came down with shingles. I had just seen shingles knock somebody in my group out for weeks (and seen my mom get it pretty badly too) and had made the appointment for the vaccine, when I noticed a small rash on my cheek. I immediately (like within an hour) went to my dermatologist and she said it was great that I noticed it early, as the anti-virals (I took Valtrex) work much better when started early. I ended up with one of the mildest cases of shingles my doc had ever seen. All I had was a little itching, with no other rashes.
