Rutgers vs St John’s / Game Thread

[BOCA93]

SJU is a very frustrating matchup. They don’t really have any real offense. It’s simply 3 guards passing the ball back and forth behind the arc. The BTN commentator accurately characterized it as organized street ball. It amazes me they’re getting so many open looks at this point

[RU206]

Make FT and this is a game

[RU_fan435]

Get baker invoked! The team goes as he does

[BillyC80]

We’re shooting one and one already. Good sign.

Amazing, St. John’s has no big man so naturally they just shoot the 3 and we refuse to guard them out there.

On the offensive end they just pass around the perimeter. They live and die by the 3. Tonight theyre living

Not that easy. They can beat every defender off the dribble.

[zebnatto]

They are getting very clean looks from 3. We cannot guard them man to man.

[ScarletLongIsland_rivals]

Absolute sloppiness in so many aspects of the game....regroup and reset for next game

[BillyC80]

I hate playing against lefties.

[JQRU91]

14, atm... need to start waking up

St. John's has been really impressive from outside.

This is an awful matchup for us

[RUTrack94]

Crushed at home! At least wrestling won.

[rufeelinit]

If we not going to feed Johnson or Doorson in the post we might be better going small. I liked the coaching match up coming in but sju has dictated the way this game has been played.

[bac2therac]

Sju may win the big east

[ScarletDave]

New plan. We need to light up RIGHT NOW

[miketd1]

Need to hire Kevin Bannon as a free throw shooting coach.

[RUChoppin]

St. John's has been really impressive from outside.

As I said, they're heating up. We're asleep.

[Scangg]

This is an awful matchup for us

We didn't take advantage of our size

[rufeelinit]

We leave our feet too easily on head fakes. Very correctable

[Proud NJ Sports Fan]

When you play a good shooting team, you must hit free throws and not turn over the ball.

Rutgers didn't go either well and the game got away from them.

They got schooled tonight

[miketd1]

They are a dribble drive team. You can get away with that because of Pond. He’s such a threat to slice the lane.

[Mr. Magoo1]

We didn't take advantage of our size

They doubled Eugene right away and he took too long to decide what to do. Passing the ball into Doorson does nothing.

[JQRU91]

St. John's shooting better from three than for the game.

[FrankZ_RU93]

Deflating game / effort

[RU206]

Rutgers isn't a good basketball team.

[RUChoppin]

I think it's been four threes because our big didn't close out on a shooter on a rotation.

[BillyC80]

This is a huge wake up call for our team.

[Proud NJ Sports Fan]

Eugene has had a rough game

No one can shoot either

Not ready for primetime yet

Young team, but the game was there to stay close in the first half of they hit their FTs and hit a few shots

[whofrewdatmataRU13]

run a small lineup against them if you arent going to pass it inside

[RU82]

They can’t miss tonight.

[78CollegeAve]

This is a huge wake up call for our team.

No, for our fans. I think Pikiell knows it’s going to be another long year. Rebuild is aimed at 2020-21.

[BillyC80]

Now I know how FDU and Drexel felt against us.

[TheKidFromRahway]

Lazy effort. No attempt to close out on shooters

[Proud NJ Sports Fan]

SJU can shoot the ball

Ponds, Transfers and Junior College guys

[RUChoppin]

run a small lineup against them if you arent going to pass it inside

Might as well play two bigs at this point. Three point defense can't get any worse

[BillyC80]

Crazy shooting by SJU.

[bethlehemfan]

Are you watching????? No not at all

Are they good yet in your opinion?

[bac2therac]

An absolute **** kicking..rutgers was never going to win this game

[Proud NJ Sports Fan]

They can’t miss tonight.

They will win a lot of games

I still like this RU team

It's young, first big game for many players

[zebnatto]

This is an awful matchup for us

Which is why we must play zone. IMO, it’s on Pike.
