If I’m picking anyone that I think may be a reslistic choice, that’s my guy.
How many coaches they plan on hiring?graham is hot name for Kansas
Man knows how to pick OCs but have to have some really prohibitive clause in his contract to keep him from jumping after a year or 2.Or Todd Graham
no thanks to MAC coaches. Hes winning due to the QB. They also lost to ARMY.Lance Leipolds Buffalo Bulls are undefeated in the MAC. Rutgers really should talk to him...NOW!!
Based purely on intuition, I think Leipold would be terrible here.Schiano is the best fit for what we need IMO. But whoever it is, they need to have had success at a high level and have name recognition.
The Buffalo coach is very good, but not enough juice to survive here.
Based purely on intuition, I think Leipold would be terrible here.

Zero pressure in Buffalo.I agree. He would be under fire from the moment he walks in. You need someone with some cache in order to weather that storm.
I don't think he would be a great fit either at this time, but there really isn't much pressure here at Rutgers relative to a lot of P5 college football programs. Aside from a few on this board, the fans are not very demanding. They basically want the team to be competitive, Schiano is a god to many fans and he never won an outright conference championships or took us to a major bowl. He just fielded competitive teams that were also entertaining. Moving to the SEC, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, UCLA, etc. that is real pressure. I would like to see Leipold be successful with his next class once the QB graduates before I would seriously consider him for Rutgers.Zero pressure in Buffalo.
All credit to him he found a game changing
6-8 QB.
How about the guy responsible for our entry into the B1G, stadium expansion, bowl games streak, upsets of top 10 teams, ranked 12th in 2006 and the reason we watched NFL level players here for years.
No good?

Relative to those programs I agree.
But all of those schools have instant recruiting credibility... we don’t.
Yet, we’re supposed to compete on that level.
This job is unique given the talent that lies in a 100 mile circle around a B1G Ten university, and we can’t get any of it.
While our fan base is small, they’ve finally had it. We’re looking at an embarrassing ghost town game day atmosphere.
You better get a guy with juice.
There’s only one guy I know with enough arrogance and juice to pull it off immediately
The other thing is if you bring in Schiano he can keep McNulty so we don't have another OC.Relative to those programs I agree.

Although Schiano makes the most sense IMO, there are others. But I don't know if they would come here or if we can afford them.it makes zero sense to hire anyone but schiano because anyone else is going to be a huge risk. hiring schiano and playing a huge buyout makes sense, since the guy has done it here before. but schiano is going to want to get PAID. if we're not going to hire schiano, we're better off sticking with what we have.
And only went 109-6 in 8 seasons. In his first 5 seasons, from 2007-11, he went 72-3 and 4 Div III championships. Meanwhile, Greg, in his 7th-11th seasons, went 38-26. Yeah, different level of play, but Leipold's record speaks for itself.Zero pressure in Buffalo.
All credit to him he found a game changing

Leaving the Buffalo coach out of it, are you aware of how good a season Army is having? Their only losses are to a bowl bound Duke team in the season opener and an OT loss to Oklahoma (both on the road).no thanks to MAC coaches. Hes winning due to the QB. They also lost to ARMY.
You need juice and stain Shifty. And only went 109-6 in 8 seasons. In his first 5 seasons, from 2007-11, he went 72-3 and 4 Div III championships. Meanwhile, Greg, in his 7th-11th seasons, went 38-26. Yeah, different level of play, but Leipold's record speaks for itself.
I agree, but Greg may not have the juice and the stain he had during his first tour. His defense has been underwhelming this year with all of that talent. Also, the track record of 2.0 coaching tenures (Petrino, Edsall) is concerning. I respect everything Greg did here on his first go round. But it was a different time, a different AD and a different conference. Even so, if that is who Rutgers decides on, I will not be against the hire. I would just like to see Rutgers cast a wide net.You need juice and stain Shifty.
This place isn’t The Dakota’s or Buffalo.
I love he’s a winner, but I don’t see enough personality
I had forgot about Edsall. You reminded me...just mentioned the same thing in another post. I can't think of a coach who did as well or better in the 2nd go around as the first go around at the same place. It's either worse or way worse.I agree, but Greg may not have the juice and the stain he had during his first tour. His defense has been underwhelming this year with all of that talent. I think citing the examples of failed returns is fair, but did any of these situations involve a complete deterioration in recruiting and fan support like Rutgers does?I had forgot about Edsall. Petrino/Snyder did okay record wise but not as good as their first stints and one got run out and the other on the verge of it. Same worse or really worse results for Joe Gibbs, Art Shell, Gruden currently (although still early) and Edsall.
Mike Riley at Oregon State maybe is the only one but he didn't really have a "tenure" the first go around as he was there just 2 years before he left.
Forget about competing for B10 success I'm not sure he'd get the same records as before even. Everyone of those coaches I mentioned did worse their 2nd go around compared to the first even the ones whose 2nd go around record wasn't bad. Not one did the same let alone better.I think citing the examples of failed returns is fair, but did any of these situations involve a complete deterioration in recruiting and fan support like Rutgers does?
Schiano doesn’t have to come back and compete for the B1G East to be a success. If Schiano gets us back to being a decent team with good recruiting, and in 4-5 years he leaves and we get a chance to redo the Flood hire with a full B1G share, that is still a success.
no thanks to MAC coaches. Hes winning due to the QB. They also lost to ARMY.
That sounds like an argument that we should be nearly throwing in the towel to slow, but not stop the bleeding. That's basically what RU did when they hired Flood. And I am not comparing Flood and Schiano.I think citing the examples of failed returns is fair, but did any of these situations involve a complete deterioration in recruiting and fan support like Rutgers does?

hes getting all the props due to the QB..Buffalo failed its biggest test when it lost to a solid Indy team..Army.Based purely on intuition, I think Leipold would be terrible here.

I agree but most people think Al Golden is better, smh.Lance Leipolds Buffalo Bulls are undefeated in the MAC. Rutgers really should talk to him...NOW!!
