that must be the guy in the Sourland Mountains I saw report on americanwx...because its actually half of the for the rest of us in Belle Mead/Hillsborough
Yes it is the guy from the Sourlands.....he says he is up to 17 inches now...elevation counts...when he had 12 he said just down the mountain there was only 6

In NW Essex County. Just spent 2 hours outside with an over matched snowblower, snow just too heavy and wet for this medium sized $500 snowblower without self propel. Finally gave up and used a shovel, even my wifey came out with the other shovel.
Will probably repeat tomorrow morning. If some teens came around I'd definitely pay them , but haven't seen any in years.
Guessing about 14 inches of wet, heavy , drifting snow. Almost white out conditions at times.

A power wire I wouldnt smack. Is the wire going to your meter? If not its not your incoming service. My calbe wire was hanging about 8' off the ground a hour ago and I brushed it off with a broom.

On a utility pole the bottom level wires are phone/cable etc. The power wires are the highest level. Lower wires hit by trucks in street etc are usually the tv/phone/internet

Just crazy, it couldn't have been more than 1.5 inches on the deck and 3/4 of an inch on the driveway at 3 and now the deck is probably around 7 and the driveway maybe 5 or so at least and then a bunch of branches all came down at that time period too from nothing before.

Just got in from shoveling - holy crap that's some dense snow, give the sleet and rain we had in the middle. As of 5 pm, we're up to 6.25": that's 5.5" of new snow (1.5" in the last hour), plus 3/4" we had in the morning. And it's coming down close to heavily right now, so hoping we can tack on another 2-4" before it's done.
Very unlikely to get to a foot and probably won't make 10" unless we get hit by the pivoting bands - just didn't get the heavy bands that people got west of us (hearing 10-18" in parts of Somerset/Hunterdon/Morris/Warren), plus we probably lost 2" of the heaviest snow when we turned to sleet/rain for 90 minutes. Oh well, still an outrageous storm, even including thundersnow. Have heard a few big cracks of branches breaking, too, so be careful out there. ...

That's someone who has no idea how to measure. I probably also have 3-4" on paved surfaces, but on my snowboard, as of 5 pm I had about 5.5" and I had 3/4" this morning, which does count, so 6.25". Been snowing heavily for last 40 minutes, so probably have close to 2" more and might get to 10" or more at this rate.
You are right grilling season is a year round SPORT (if nascar is a sport so is grilling!) ! But right now we have 16 f'in inches of f'in snow on our balcony. We brought our grill in to save it so we will have to wait until this f'in crap melts down to about 8 inches before we can grill to our little hearts desire. I HATE WINTER! Who said this storm is a bust?
It looks like it pounded Lower Bucks, then skipped upper Bucks and the ABE area, then started up again in the Poconos.
Yea really don't look forward to driving around side roads getting to driveways. Never know where a line is down or a tree branch falls on the truck. Matter of fact a customer called today saying her cable line in laying across the driveway so I may never had seen that if she didn't call.
Eh, what's a little snow to get in the way of grilling? Clean it off, shovel it out, put on a Hawaiian shirt, pour a scotch and fire it up!
Absolutely as I just posted. 5.5" on the ground as of 5 pm and about to go measure - pouring snow for the last hour now - should be up to at least 7" (and had 3/4" this morning).
Try that on the bottom of your sled or saucer there Clark and send your kid down the hill on their merry way.
one thing is for sure, Metuchen going to come up small in the snowglobe competition for this storm
