OT: Potential Winter Storm on 3/7-8

Yeah I'm smelling 2 inches of slush in CNJ as a final result.
Back and forth between rain and snow here.
Is Meteorology the other Astrology of the sciences?

Just measured on my balcony and we now have 5 inches that has fallen since about 9 last night. Easy to measure because there is no wind.

For our area. WeatherWorks holding at 5-10 inches:
Midday Update...Varying intensity of snow and rain this morning is rapidly giving way to a band of heavy snow that is in the process of moving into CNJ (it will reach everyone 1130a-1245p). This is the beginning ofwhat should be persistent periods of very heavy snow through the afternoon and a good amount of the time will feature 1-2" per hour rates. This intensity enables pavements to cover and accumulate during the aft'n. The heavy banding of snow should end by 6-8p and snow completely stops not long after. Once any lingering snow ends this evening, we begin to clear out and remain breezy overnight. Due to the heavy, wet snow expected combined with gusty winds (up to 25 - 35 mph), downed limbs, a few trees and power lines can result. In addition, watch for some freezing of slush/wet surfaces as temps cool to or below freezing.

Totally off topic, but Stevie may be one of the funniest characters on tv. Some of his one liners had me crying they were so hilarious. (George Washington line during Power's Giving Back Charity is one of my favorite)
So it's 28° here and we've got about 4 inches down on the ground so far. It's been snowing steadily and it's starting to get heavier.
Sounds a heck of a lot like Wayne.
Yep, that's my recollection too - rarely did they call off a day if there was light snow in the morning.
Kind of meaningless now as companies expect you to VPN in to your office and work.
Just something to throw out there....The HRRR model at 10-1 already had 3.3 at Trenton and 2.7 in New Brunswick at noon so you could see what we have lost to melting and or taint and how the models may have overdone things and even on Kuchera
Make no mistake its coming and we are on the doorstep but some of the large amounts thrown about can already shave off 2-3 inches just on what was lost alone

The "official" measurements are when the storm is over, right? I think we covered this in another thread. It's not the sum of snowfall per hour. You have to take into account melting?
Holy crap, the wall of snow has finally arrived! Strap in folks, going to be a crazy 8 hours. Hope nobody is stuck on the road in this as it's going to get really bad really fast. Already accumulating on everything quickly here. At 11:45 I said to the wife, I'm going to take a shower and if it's not snowing heavily in 15 minutes, I'll eat your hat (she has one of those huge Kentucky Derby hats). Stepped out of the shower at noon and the flakes just started pouring. Perfect timing.
Edit: just came back in from a walk - extremely heavy snow, with 1" on the ground on all surfaces (as I keep harping on, with great enough rates, surface temps and surface albedo and daylight simply don't matter - now things will accumulate easily on top of 32F snow) in 25 minutes, which is a little over 2" per hour (did that math in my head, lol).
Edit: just came back in from a walk - extremely heavy snow, with 1" on the ground on all surfaces (as I keep harping on, with great enough rates, surface temps and surface albedo and daylight simply don't matter - now things will accumulate easily on top of 32F snow) in 25 minutes, which is a little over 2" per hour (did that math in my head, lol).

Yup really hard now and coating on everything to set the stage for it to actually stick now.
Just walked home from my office. Not too cold, not windy at all, snow not sticking to pavement..staring to accumulate on grass), but that is some of the wettest damn snow I’ve ever dealt with in my life. My jacket was soaked a couple blocks in!

Pretty intense hail going on in northern ocean county at the beach. In the last 30 minutes it went from raining and windy with some gusting to the hail. Not really big, maybe twice the size of kosher salt, but enough of it that my grass is turning white in places. Hard surfaces are just wet.
in New Providence the intensity has just ratcheted up big time... Just now starting to stick on the roads
Here in Howell we now have ice or hail or whatever the hell you want to call it. I'm with @scarlet89 I have no idea what you classify this as. But it's accumulating on my deck.
